Monk Parakeets are endemic to the lowlands of southern South America, but they have carved out a place for themselves in areas of Florida and beyond. They are larger (11.5", 29cm), louder and more aggressive than the familiar caged pet "budgies" (7", 18cm) which are native to Australia.
An earlier post (also shown in the first comment below) shows four of the colony of Monk Parakeets at Cape Coral, Florida.

Literally the first shot of the day. I like to get Fridays off and hike trails that Darling Tonia can't do, but I can't get a Friday off (10 hours today) so with begged permission as I'm losing the flowers and summer I headed out to find Gobbler's Knob Lookout. The camera bag is in my backpack because I'm hoofin' it baby, gotta get back to spend time with the Mrs. and then there was this, and the next meadow, and the elk, and the next meadow, lake, tower, lake, monument....I got home from this amazing trail at 6:00 exhausted and elated. Completely socked in and never saw Rainier, but the trail was scrumptious. :-)
This really must be blown up to enjoy, puts you right there.
Nachdem ich gestern Morgen den Sonderzug mit der 110 350 in Lüneburg langzeitbelichtete, blieb ich erstmal wach und überlegte, ob ich den Vormittag noch in Bardowick verbringen sollte. Denn der Himmel blieb entgegen der Vorhersage klar und es gab auch keinen Nebel. Die Luft war lediglich etwas diesig. Als dann gegen 10 Uhr die Meldung kam, dass der Rübenzug durch Dammtor Richtung Hbf gefahren war, wurde klar, dass ich noch losfahren sollte! Denn ich hatte die Hoffnung eigentlich schon aufgegeben den Rübenzug in der diesjährigen Saison zu knipsen, da dieser in der Regel immer nachts fährt bzw. fuhr.
So begab ich mich flott aufs Rad und radelte nach Bardowick.
Etwa 50Min später rollte der EGP Rübenzug dann mit der 248 997 durch zum Uelzener Hafen.

Bei Pankofen war 248 021 mit einer Leistung von Dispo-Tf, welche in Deggendorf Hafen begann, Richtung Plattling unterwegs.
Momentan sind wir voll in den Umzugsvorbereitungen. Viele Schränke haben wir bereits ausmistet und uns von Dingen getrennt. Am Samstag war aber ab Nachmittag mal wieder etwas Zeit zum Fotografieren, denn das Wetter spielte endlich auch mal wieder mit. Nachdem ich meine Freundin in Ratingen auf einer Betriebsfeier abgesetzt hatte, ging es auf die Autobahn Richtung Sauerland. Ziel dabei war Sundern im Sauerland. Dort wollte ich mir mal die Holzverladung anschauen und hoffte vielleicht einen Holzzug auf der eingleisigen Nebenbahn zwischen Sundern und Neheim aufnehmen zu können. In Sundern angekommen war der Bahnhof natürlich leer. Aber so konnte ich mir alles vor Ort mal ansehen und auf dem Weg dahin sind mir bereits zwei Fotostellen aufgefallen. Ein kurzer Blick auf das Handy verriet mir dann, dass an dem Tag tatsächlich ein Holzzug von Sundern nach Schwerte gefahren war, nur halt ca. 2-3 Stunden vor meiner Ankunft. Lichttechnisch hätte es sowieso noch nicht geklappt, denn so früh ist das Licht an keinen Punkt zwischen Sundern und Neheim rum.
Danach beschloss ich nach Neubeckum, an die Strecke zwischen Bielefeld und Hamm, zu fahren. Dort angekommen wurde ein weiterer netter Fotograf angetroffen. Gemeinsam verharrten wir über zwei Stunden an der Strecke. Neben dem Masken ICE kam auch noch 162.005 von Hectorrail Lz im schönen Abendlicht daher. Dann kam eine Meldung rein, dass ein Dual Vectron mit Res-Wagen durch Bielefeld Richtung Hamm gerollt ist. Sehr schön dachte ich mir, denn einen Dual Mode Vectron hatte ich bisher noch nicht aufnehmen können. Nach ein wenig Wartezeit bog dann der Siemens 248 004 mit einigen Res-Wagen, die beladen mit Schotter waren, um die Ecke. Der Samstagabendausflug hatte sich somit gelohnt. Nach dem Schotterzug folgte noch Lineas mit der 186 181-4, welche mittlerweile auch große Lineas-Logos an der Seite hat. Aber natürlich waren die Containertragwagen hinter der Lok alle leer, weshalb dieses Foto eher was für das Archiv ist. Als Tagesabschluss kam noch die TRI 110 469-4 Lz auf dem Weg von Dessau nach Köln daher. Das Bild ist aber leider dem aufziehenden Schlonz am Himmel zum Opfer gefallen.
