Dahlia 'American Beauty' 23W32 Dahlia V1- (SWI 2008) Red Decorative Dahlia, Mature plant size: 4.5ft., B-ID-DR Class(2107) Awards(), USDA Hardiness Zone 8, Michigan Bloom Week ISO WW32, In Garden Bed V1 for 88 DAYS (Swan). Planted in 2023.
Introduced by Swan Island in 2008. 6-8” deep velvet red petals that slightly ruffle. No awards listed by ADS as of 2014. My guess is that this dahlia is not a dahlia show favorite. However, it is a knockout in the garden. First planted 2011. Strong stems. Large tubers. Planted with Skywalker.
2021 note: still one of my all time favorites. Great color on a great bloom. Easy divide, average to large tubers.

Hemerocallis 'Sand Witch' 23W32 Daylily D4- (Reed, 2012) gold Daylily , Mature plant size: 34in., ruffled and recurved bloom glows with a golden beach sand color, blending caramel tan, gold, and peach pink., USDA Hardiness Zone 3, Michigan Bloom Week ISO WW31, In Garden Bed D4 for 23 MONTHS (Murphy). Planted in 2021.
(Reed, 2012) 34" M 6" dormant, diploid.
This wickedly ruffled and recurved bloom glows with a golden beach sand color, blending caramel tan, gold, and peach pink. Following in the footsteps of Brown Witch, Grey Witch, and Third Witch, Sand Witch has great plant habits and more graceful form. It has 3-way branching with lots of buds. It was planned to be white (see parentage - all whites) but sometimes one can't pass up the spell of the moment. It is out of (Margo Reed Indeed x Ice Water) x Scandinavia.
Probably should have been mid-late; blooms heavily into August (2016)

Tomato 'BLACK KRIM' 23W32 Tomato G2- (Tomato) Tomato, Mature plant size: 69day, BLACK red, USDA Hardiness Zone Veg, Michigan Bloom Week ISO WW31, In Garden Bed G2 for 140 DAYS (Pinetree). Planted in 2023.
69 day HEIRLOOM Ukraine. Indeterminate. The deep red fruits appear to be a shiny black while the interior is a reddish green. Surprisingly, this very old, very sweet, fairly large tomato is also very early. Started 4/12/14
Bakers Creek: 80 days. Dark red-purple fruit, rich sweet flavor. One of the best. It always places high in tomato taste trials. It’s very juicy. An heirloom from Russia with very unique looking, large fruit. The wonderful flavor is popular at many markets on the West Coast; also a favorite of many fine chefs. The top tomato in our 2014 nutritional study and voted best tasting.
2023 note: Quick to germinate, strong seedlings.

Baker Creek: 80 day Indeterminate. This Brad Gates introduction was selected from a cross between ‘Beauty King’ and a blue tomato. Fruit is modest beefsteak-type slicer, weighing up to 8 ounces, and the flavor is as good as its outstanding antioxidant content! Deep blue-black shoulders make this unique among slicing types. Sunburn and crack resistant.

Reed: (Reed, 07) 56" L 5.5" dormant, diploid
Quite tall, like pink turtles blooming on the top of 4-way deeply branched scapes (24 buds). Out of LOLA BRANHAM, this one blooms late and long. The blooms are not large, but recurved pink blend shells with darker pink stippling above a green throat. Its garden name was "Pink Towers". Fertile both ways. I am using it to bring pink colors into the tall cultivars. It was registered when I knew it would be an introduction, but it didn't get lined out for introduction until this year, because it blooms so late in the season. It has been a good parent.

Hemerocallis 'Tree Turtles' 23W32 Daylily D4- (Reed, 2007) Tall Pink Daylily , Mature plant size: 56in., Quite tall, like pink turtles blooming on the top of 4-way deeply branched scapes (24 buds)., USDA Hardiness Zone 4, Michigan Bloom Month 7a, In Garden Bed D4 for 23 MONTHS (Murphy). Planted in 2021.
