Bijna 40 jaar na dato rijdt de SSN 23 023 de Hoogoven Express naar Beverwijk en de voormalige Koninklijke Nederlandse Hoogovens en Staalfabrieken, het huidige Tata Steel.
De maidentrip van de 23 023, die de afgelopen jaren geheel opnieuw is opgebouwd, begon in Rotterdam met opstapplaatsen in Gouda en Woerden om vervolgens via Haarlem en de Velserspoortunnel uit te komen in Beverwijk.
Alle passagiers stapten uit in Beverwijk en gingen per museumbus naar het Hoogoventerrein, alwaar zij een excursie kregen in de stoomtrein van de Hoogovens.
De 23 023 had vervolgens de wagons naar Uitgeest gebracht en kwam terug naar Beverwijk om water te halen.
Hier is de 23 023 te zien na water gehaald te hebben. Op weg naar Uitgeest om daar de lege wagons op te halen. Vervolgens zouden alle passagiers na hun excursie op het Hoogoventerrein op station Beverwijk weer instappen. De terugweg naar Rotterdam ging via Zaandam en een fotostop op Amsterdam Centraal.

Niels Peter Clemmensen, looking back in time…..
Niels Peter Clemmensen passed away in 1931.
As a young man he was conscripted into the Danish armed forces and fought in the Danish/Prussian war of 1864. (1. Feb – 30. Oct. 1864)
I would like to thank Niels Peter’s Great-Grandson Kjeld for granting me access to the family’s treasure-trove of letters, paintings and photographs that form the basis of my photo-series, and for his permission to publicize my subsequent artwork.
This short-photo series, (which includes some of Niels Peter’s letters sent to his parents from the trenches in Southern Jutland), will also form an introduction to the family’s own private genealogical research. My sincere thanks for the trust in being able to contribute to the extensive digitalization of these letters, paintings and photographs.
