Sometimes I live in the town

Sometimes I get a great notion

To jump into the river an’ drown

I haven't uploaded much lately. After shooting a wedding a couple of weeks ago I've had to sell all my gear. New stuff will be arriving soon however and I'll see how far I can go with this 365 before the end of the year.

Broken stained-glass windows, the fragments ramble on

Tales of broken souls, an eternity's been won

As critics scorn the thoughts and works of mortal man

My eyes are drawn to you in awe once again...

I have about two hours of Jars of Clay music that I've been playing all day.

I'm starting to mind the cold a little less. A little I say now!

Day 235 of 365

Ever so often you have a street portrait encounter that is kinda bizarre yet enjoyable, meeting Lu was one of these.

I spotted this background with a wall leading into a side street and there was some awesome bright tagging - yellow and pink. I figured it wouldn't be long before a complimentary colour wearing street portrait came by and BINGO within seconds this guy strolls up with buds in his ears wearing a perfect match top!

I approached him motioning for him to remove the earbuds so he could hear me and I explained that I was taking street portraits and would love a shot of him round the corner by this wall. He followed along and posed for a few shots. I then began to direct him to angle his head in and waited for the street behind to clear (the pink bus was distracting although another great colour match) and there were a number of passers bye.

I continued working with Lu to adjust his head angle and get the shot I had wanted, then after a few minutes he asked me what I was doing, I'm not sure if he was asking why I was photographing him or if he had (like sometimes happens) just come along doing as he was asked without stopping to think..hang on a minute! I explained that again my purpose and the use of the shot and he seemed okay with it, he then asked if I had done this before and seemed reassure when I told him I had taken a few hundred such portraits!

Lu was kind to stop and I enjoyed working with the pink colours. He is a Business Studies student in the nearbye uni.

Thanks Lu - hope you find the shot and like it!

It alwyas makes me smile when halfway thorugh a shoot soemoen stops to ask why I'm takign the picture as people don't often register immediately when they agree!

ART CAN KILL

You are what you read. The sentence, written with dog food, was displayed on the white wall of an art gallery. Close to that wall, an abandoned and diseased street dog was left tied to a rope and a wire string. An incense burner was placed nearby where, allegedly, crack and cannabis was burnt during the inauguration. Without food and water, the animal died in the gallery during the next day.

It happened in Nicaragua. It was an “installation” by "artist" Guillermo Habacuc Vargas, known as Habacuc. The situation, documented with several images, received a lot of attention on the web and originated an online petition against this "artist". Art cannot be the umbrella for the vandalism and, consistently, would not have that to guarantee the impunity.

Art is not cruelty!

When you are barely 5 feet, 9 yards is a lot :) Watching her battle folding sarees is fun!

Thought I'd leave the colours untouched here - just a little crop.

Updated: Crop suggested by Lost in Colors and Chitra and dad says she is barely 4 feet - not 5 :D

Two months ago this feral kitten walked across my patio. Today he lives in my house and my heart. How did this happen, I ask myself? I have never had a house cat, never wanted one. Now I have a new feline friend and I am addicted. He has a chip implanted and if he ever gets away, he might find his way home. He still lives outdoors part of the time and he comes in when he chooses. More and more he wants to stay in the house, no surprise there!

My wife seems to think I have cameras on the brain. I have no idea what she is talking about. =D

Probably the last upload until Sunday night or Monday. We're heading out of town again right after work tomorrow. So, have a great weekend all.
