Chassis: MAN 14.440

Body: Alexander Dennis Enviro 300

Reg: FX09 DDX

Notes:

It's not that common, nor that rare, seeing these MANs do the full length 2 from Boothferry to North Bransholme, you usually see them do the short 2s from Interchange to Boothferry, interworking into a 1. The 1s and 2s timetable isn't the easiest to understand. Certain journeys go into the Interchange, certain journeys cut down Carr Lane. If an enthusiast can't understand certain changes, how the hell is a member of the public supposed to know?

Seen on Bransholme operating a 2 to Boothferry Estate is 22799, a 2009 MAN E300 new to Stagecoach Hull. It was transferred out to Mansfield for Pronto services 2012 before returning home in 2015.

The Pronto is a shared service between Stagecoach and Trent Barton, offering buses up to every 15 minutes Monday to Saturday daytimes between Nottingham, Ravenshead and Mansfield, continuing every 30 minutes through to Chesterfield via Pleasley and Holmewood.

612, 22800 and 22799 all sit on the dead lane in the snow at Mansfield Bus Station.

An old style with a new style....

22799 came from Hull in 2012 along with 22797, 22798 and also 22800 and 22831 from Lincoln when Stagecoach went to war with Trent over Pronto, initially running five minutes in front of their journeys, but then finding common ground again in 2013, with Trent and Stagecoach working together to offer a 10 minute headway between Nottingham and Mansfield, working through to Chesterfield every 30 minutes.

22775 was brand new to Mansfield in 2009 in the batch 22772-8, which were purchased to oust the aging R---LSO ALX200 bodied Darts from Pronto, which also saw the frequency increase from every 20 minutes to every 15 on the busiest stretch.

The batch from Hull/Lincoln are on borrowed time, as a recent batch of 64 plate E300s has been introduced to replace them, which will make the Pronto line-up a fully leather seated service. These will all be returning to Hull once repaints of 22772-7 have finished.

22799 leads 22775 through Sherwood towards Mansfield and Chesterfield on Pronto.

I really don't have much to say here. This used to be a Pronto bus in its earlier life. The new Hull blinds are also a bit naff, aren't they?

Seen at Staveley Road is E300, 22799, on a service 3 back to Orchard Park.

The Simplibus network in Hull saw most services in the City renumbered to low numbers in a bid to simplify it, all services under the brand running at least every 15 minutes Monday to Saturday daytimes.

As far as I know, the only ones which weren't renumbered were the 1 and 2??

22799 sits at Alfred Gelder Street with a 4 to Orchard Park via Sculcoates and Newland.

Today's very brief spotting journey today also saw me end up at somewhere that... honestly, gives me the creeps. The Falkland Road bus turnaround is the most south-east you can go in Hull, and around here... Hull just ends. It doesn't flow into a neat bit of countryside... it ends. For some reason, that slightly unnerves me. And if you want an even better example of Hull just ending, look on Street View for Bamford Avenue just a short walk up from here. The road ends with just a fence seperating city and county, fields as far as the eye can see. I don't know about you, but it honestly is quite creepy for me. I've never known any other city in this country to just... well, end.

Ah, but at least they cover it up with a bit of shrubbery here. Regardless of creepiness, the turnaround is a spot that I've always wanted to take advantage of, as this is where the 14, like Hull, ends. And so providing a good example, Stagecoach in Hull's 22799, a 2009 MAN ADL Enviro 300 that was actually new to Hull before being transferred up to Mansfield and being put on the Pronto for a while, coming back home in 2015, is seen here at rest between duties on the 14 with its driver taking a phone call in the passenger area before their scheduled departure from Falkland Road back to Hull Interchange.
