SÜDAFRIKA( South-Africa), Rund um den Hluhluwe - Imfolozi- Nationalpark, Trotz miserablem Wetter treffen wir doch noch auf ein Breitmaulnashorn.
Das Breitmaulnashorn (Ceratotherium simum) oder Breitlippennashorn ist ein Säugetier aus der Familie der Nashörner. Die teilweise gebrauchte Bezeichnung Weißes Nashorn leitet sich vom englischen Trivialnamen White rhinoceros ab. Die Art lebt in den Grassavannen Afrikas und stellt den einzigen noch lebenden Vertreter der Gattung Ceratotherium dar. Zudem ist das Breitmaulnashorn die größte rezente Nashornart. Der Verbreitungsschwerpunkt liegt heute im südlichen Afrika.

The white rhinoceros (Ceratotherium simum) or broad-lipped rhinoceros is a mammal of the rhinoceros family. The sometimes used name white rhinoceros is derived from the English trivial name White rhinoceros. The species lives in the grass savannahs of Africa and is the only living representative of the genus Ceratotherium. In addition, the white rhino is the largest extant rhino species. The focus of distribution is now in southern Africa.
Ulmer Fahrzeuge sind nicht unbedingt für ihren herausragenden Pflegezustand bekannt. Sehr erfreut war der Fotograf daher, dass die RAB gleich zwei ihrer Vorzeigefahrzeuge als RE 22316 nach Sigmaringen schickte. Angeführt wurde der Zug an jenem 2. Juni 2020 vom neuen Star aus der mitunter recht bunten ulmer Fahrzeugsammlung: 628 673/486 "Maria", die noch ihre minttürkise/lichtgraue Farbgebung aus Westfrankenbahn-Zeiten trägt.
Das zweite Fahrzeug des Zuges ist 629 005, der mindestens gut gewaschen wurde.

W&LE 6347, 3048, 6985, and 2662 pull the 214 east by Canal Road outside of Zoar on the afternoon of 2/23/16. Some brush cutting for a gas line recently opened up this shot. I was standing on the back edge of the Zoar Golf Course.
The koala or, inaccurately, koala bear (Phascolarctos cinereus) is an arboreal herbivorous marsupial native to Australia. It is the only extant representative of the family Phascolarctidae and its closest living relatives are the wombats, which comprise the family Vombatidae. The koala is found in coastal areas of the mainland's eastern and southern regions, inhabiting Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, and South Australia. It is easily recognisable by its stout, tailless body and large head with round, fluffy ears and large, spoon-shaped nose. The koala has a body length of 60–85 cm and weighs 4–15 kg. Fur colour ranges from silver grey to chocolate brown. Koalas from the northern populations are typically smaller and lighter in colour than their counterparts further south. These populations possibly are separate subspecies, but this is disputed. Koalas typically inhabit open eucalypt woodlands, and the leaves of these trees make up most of their diet. Because this eucalypt diet has limited nutritional and caloric content, koalas are largely sedentary and sleep up to 20 hours a day. They are asocial animals, and bonding exists only between mothers and dependent offspring. Adult males communicate with loud bellows that intimidate rivals and attract mates. Males mark their presence with secretions from scent glands located on their chests. Being marsupials, koalas give birth to underdeveloped young that crawl into their mothers' pouches, where they stay for the first six to seven months of their lives. These young koalas, known as joeys, are fully weaned around a year old. Koalas have few natural predators and parasites, but are threatened by various pathogens, such as Chlamydiaceae bacteria and the koala retrovirus. R_22316
Na Talissieu fietste ik nog even verder naar Béon. Het was me helaas nog niet gelukt om een Nez-Cassé op deze fraaie locatie te fotograferen, dus moest een laatste poging voordat we de volgende morgen weer zouden vertrekken uit Artemare, maar de gewenste plaat opleveren...
En die mazzel bleek ik te hebben, want de enige kans die ik nog had, TER 96510, bleek met een fraaie Nez-Cassé voorop te rijden! De En Voyage BB 22316, die ook nog eens voorzien is van een stadswapen (van de gemeente Lomme), is op 11 augustus 2019 met een Corail-stam onderweg vanuit Lyon Part Dieu naar Genève Cornavin.
La BB 22316 assure un TER Annecy - Valence. Le train est vu ici sur la voie unique Aix les Bains - Annecy entre Rumilly et l'évitement de Bloye.

I ran across this old factory building in 2009 when it was under reconstruction as "The Discovery History and Science Museum." It appeared that a lot of work on the old and deteriorating building was well under way and might provide a connection to the past for the city by repurposing the brick structure. I took some photos and did a little research on what the developers envisioned for it but didn't check the site for another ten years. I was surprised to not be able to find the huge structure and figured my memory on its location had failed me. In its place, on the banks of the Elkhart River right in the city of Ligonier, was a new apartment building and no sign of the old structure. Apparently the vision for a museum of this sort did not pan out and instead of repurposing it as an apartment building or something of daily usefulness for the city, it was torn down.
The vision at the time for the former Wirk Garment Factory building was a combination of "museum, day-care center, history exhibit, Bible story exhibition and banquet hall." For more information:

Since the product that was produced in the factory days here was work clothing, I wonder if the term 'Wirk' is a play on 'work?'
