The Pronghorn herd ran to put some distance between us after I walked into the field. Then they doubled back. Curiosity. They've done this many times in my presence, more so than deer or bison, other herd animals that - once they start - tend to keep running.
Morning light. Expansive views. Close encounters are always fun, and initially I was much, much closer, but sometimes showing wildlife in its habitat can work well, too.
I often see these animals while driving to the national park just down the road, and they always kick-start my outing nicely.

Any day that begins with a herd of Pronghorn is a pretty good day... and even better when the light is rich and warm! There's a stretch of 2-lane country highway between my home and the national park where I often see Pronghorn, especially in winter: they feed well on spilled grain in the wheat fields.
When they are close to the road, shooting from the car works best, but if they're a little farther away I may get out and try to approach them on foot. They're curious animals. Sometimes they'll walk toward me, cautiously, or trot by as this group is doing. High stepping elegance matched with blazing speed when they decide to shift into high gear. Amazing critters!

In het paasweekend van 2022 zat er een FLIRT in de omloop van de Sprinterserie 7000. Helaas was de FLIRT zaterdag al omgeruild met een SNG, dus was het nog de vraag of de FLIRT terug zou keren. Gelukkig kwam de FLIRT nog terug en kon ik zo nog de nodige foto's maken. NSR 2201 staat te pauzeren op station Apeldoorn om straks als SPR 7079 naar Almelo te gaan.

Aspects of Penarth. The former Penarth Dock, once a large scale exporter of coal, until this activity came to an end in 1936. The dock reopened in 1943 as a US training base, finally being closed in 1963. It is now a marina for pleasure craft, surrounded by quite varied modern housing.

Op woensdag 16 juli reed de opvallende 2201 van Lineas een lege keteltrein vanuit Bad Bentheim naar de Rotterdamse Havens.
De locomotief draagt nog altijd restanten van de huisstijl van Trainsupport, daar reed de loc onder het nummer TG-105. Nadat de locomotief bij IRP terechtkwam veranderde er weinig aan de kleurstelling, de locomotief heeft nog wel een tijdje als ProRail “Wegsleeploc” gefungeerd. Afijn, de loc rijdt dus al enige tijd voor Lineas in een kleurstelling van een bedrijf dat al ruim 10 jaar niet meer bestaat en is daarmee een leuke verschijning op het Nederlandse spoor. Te Woerden kon de fotograaf dan ook voldaan klikken toen het geheel in een lekker zomerzonnetje passeerde.
Om in de dieselsferen te blijven een foto van de zonnige 9 juli 2025. Op deze dag zien we de ex IRP 2201, nu in dienst bij Lineas met een sleepje ketelwagens (vermoedelijk fenol) onderweg naar Sittard aan de twee aanwezige fotografen passeren ter hoogte van Dordrecht.
Voici la première rame en provenance du Luxembourg, lors de son acheminement sur le technicentre de Saint Pierre des Corps. Elle est aperçue sous les premiers rayons du soleil, entre Etampes et Orléans, sous la marche 786105: Valenton - Saint Pierre des Corps. 06 mai 2022
Vandaag was het weer extreem depressief grijs weer maar gelukkig was het begin van de maand wel zonnig. Op 1 oktober 2025 had ik voldoende energie om met de trein naar Gilze-Rijen te gaan en van daar uit met een OV-fiets naar Hulten, De reden was dat dit de laatste dag van de ongeplande afsluiting van Emmerich zou zijn en mijn verwachting was dat er wel wat leuke omgeleide extra cargo zou passeren. Daar kan ik kort over zijn; er was niet veel te beleven helaas. Daarnaast kwam er in de loop van de dag ook steeds meer sluierbewolking op zetten dus ik was helaas niet erg succesvol. Gelukkig scheen de zon wel stevig toen ik was aangekomen en niet lang na aankomst (en na diverse uitgevallen treinen) zien we weer een diesellok. In dit geval de (ex-IRP) en nu LINEAS 2201 met een sleepje ketelwagens vanaf Sittard onderweg richting de Rotterdamse haven hier bij de passage van Hulten.
