A fairly new train led by UP # 4850 runs as AASIH-22 from Alton Southern to Indiana Harbor in rural Walshville, IL on 4-22-2013.

Route 22 is being revised completely as phase of phase three of Surrey CC's bus review.

It will no longer service Guildford, Shalford, Chilworth, Albury, Shere or Gomshall (except the latter two on school journeys). It also won't serve Brockham or Strood Green, the 'new' Metrobus 22 will go Chart Downs way on its journeys that extend to Leigh & Newdigate.

Seen here on the last ever journey to go the full length from Guildford to Newdigate, and surely therefore the last time "Newdigate" will ever be seen on the front of a bus in Guildford for the rest of time, is Arriva Guildford & West Surrey Dart 3202 (P202 LKJ), it's loading here at Millbrook, Guildford, on the 1720 service ex-Guildford bus station.

Ford Motor Company Fund returned as sole sponsor of the NAACP Hollywood Bureau Symposium, marking its 10th year with the title “Moving Forward: The State of the Industry.” The annual event was held Thursday, Feb. 20, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Museum of Tolerance in Los Angeles. The event was free to the public.

A portion of Ford’s sponsorship will be directed to support community programs, including a $10,000 grant to Duke Media Foundation.

Last year, the film entertainment industry set a record with box office receipts totaling $11 billion. Black filmmakers, including an increased number of black film directors and actors starring in lead roles, as well as gripping feature films and moving historical pieces all played a role in this unprecedented success.

“Ford is proud to be working again with the NAACP Hollywood Bureau Symposium to showcase a renaissance in black film at all levels,” said Pamela Alexander, director of community development, Ford Motor Company Fund. “We congratulate the award-winning Bill Duke and Duke Media Foundation for their work in developing media and financial literacy programs to prepare inner-city and gifted high school students for the new digital media age.”

The event focused on whether this newfound success was due to a broader industry trend or the achievement of a new stronghold for blacks in the film industry. More than 300 people including Hollywood entertainers, NAACP board members, members of the NAACP Image Awards’ committee and television academy, as well as film and television students from local colleges and universities convened for this event. They also engaged in the question and answer session by directly addressing the panel participants with various inquiries. All panelists encourage aspiring artists to persevere and learn to perfect their craft.

Panel participants included humanitarian/activist/director Bill Duke, CAA agent Cameron Mitchell, senior vice president of production for Columbia Tristar Pictures Devon Franklin, and author and producer Flo McAfee. Ramsey Jay Jr., nationally renowned writer, interviewer and producer, served as panel moderator.

The Hollywood Bureau Symposium was one of several popular events held during Image Awards week. The 45th NAACP Image Awards aired Saturday, Feb. 22, from 9 to 11 p.m. on TV One. Check local listings for encore broadcasts.

Tam Makers hosted an exhibit at Marinovators 2017 -- a free event that showcases young makers in Marin County. We presented some of the cool projects our members created in our makerspace: elegant boxes, wooden bowls, robot arms, interactive art and gadgets.

This year’s featured exhibit was a Time Machine created by our Maker Art class at the Lycée Français in Sausalito. Our 4th and 5th graders were on hand all day to demonstrate this innovative after-school project, which combines art, technology and storytelling -- using Arduino, motors, lights and sounds.

We also invited visitors to make their own Tam Makers badges with LEDs, laser cut shapes, and color markers. They created some ingenious badges, and wore them proudly at the show. Everyone seemed to enjoy their experience with Tam Makers: children, parents, makers and woodworkers all had a wonderful time making art together and learning from each other.

It was a great way to celebrate art and science and encourage children to build a better world.

Marinovators took place on Saturday, April 22, from 10am to 3pm, at the College of Marin in Kentfield. Our Tam Makers booth was in Room #245 in the new Academic Center.

Very nice set up, of the hotel's whirl pool. Dimmed down the light a little bit, better to match the original atmosphere. Even it's a hotel pool, it can be completely private, and closed by two glass doors. Light is best dimmed down, or replaced by candle light. Not visible is the aritficial sky with some 250 lights (fiber optics) on top of the pool.

Fast hand held shot with an ultra wide angle lens, 10 - 22 from canon set to 10 mm.

As it can be seen, the build in flash and a lens hood don't go together very well. Should have brought a tripod my flash with diffuser, and made the picture with the pool filled with hot steaming water, and may a pretty girl. But since this was holiday, was more focused at the whirl pool then to take the technical perfect picture.

Awesome! For the second day in a row, the HMX-1 V-22 from the presidential fleet made a flyover near my apartment. So awesome to see this thing in action!

Nebraska-Kearney tied a school record with 17 3-point field goals as the Lopers upset Metro State 77-75 on Saturday afternoon in Denver. The loss dropped the Roadrunners to 19-6 overall and 12-5 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, while UNK improved to 12-13 overall and 7-10 in the RMAC.

UNK buried a stunning 17-of-22 from the outside, hitting 77.3 percent beyond the arc, and 25-of-37 from the floor, a 67.6 percent clip. Akeem Morissaint also tied a school record with nine 3-pointers as he hit 9-of-11 from the outside and scored a career-high 29 points off the bench to lead all scorers.

Reggie Evans scores on a putback dunk early in the second half.

Nebraska-Kearney’s 17 3-pointers tied a record set on Jan. 3, 2004, against New Mexico Highlands. Morissaint tied Mike Hancock’s record of nine 3-pointers on Feb. 27, 1998, against Fort Hays State.

Metro State had plenty of opportunities to win or tie the game in the closing minute. The Roadrunners led by as much as 13 points in the first half and held a 43-34 edge at halftime. Morissaint hit 6-of-7 from the outside in the first half for 20 points.

UNK chipped away and tied the game at 53-53 with 11:50 remaining in the second half after hitting 3-pointers on four out of six possessions.

The Lopers then built a seven-point lead with 2:31 left at 73-66 on Michael Vandahl 3-pointer, UNK’s 17th of the game.

Nebraska-Kearney led by six with under a minute to play, but Brian Minor’s layup and free throw cut the lead to 75-72 with 35 seconds left. After Vandahl hit a pair of free throws on the other end, Donte Nicholas drilled his only 3-pointer of the game to cut Kearney’s lead to two with 24 seconds left.

Minor stole the inbounds pass, but A.J. Flournoy missed on two free throw attempts with nine seconds left that would have tied the game. However, Max Froehlich missed the front end of a 1-and-1 for the Lopers, leaving Metro State with a chance to tie the game. Minor was denied a cut to the basket as he dished out to the right wing to Josh Turner. The freshman found Minor on the baseline, but he missed a 10-foot fadeway with three seconds left. Reggie Evans’ tip-in at the buzzer rimmed out as UNK held on for the win.

Evans led the Roadrunners with 21 points. Nicholas had 18 points and 12 rebounds, his sixth double-double of the season. However he made just 6-of-18 from the floor and 5-of-8 at the line. Minor filled up the stat sheet with 11 points, a career-high eight assists, six rebounds and five steals. Jonathan Morse also scored 11 and had seven rebounds and a career-high four assists.

Metro State dominated the Lopers in every category other than shooting, forcing 20 turnovers and committing just nine. Metro State also held a 35-24 rebounding edge. The Roadrunners hit 43.1 percent from the floor, but just 3-of-13 from the outside and 16-of-25 at the line.

The two teams played in front of Metro State’s largest home crowd in over a year as 1,534 fans were in attendance.

Metro State will host Regis on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. game. Both the men's and women's games will be broadcast live on Mile High Sports Radio at 1510 AM.

The William and Mary men’s basketball team led from start to finish and pushed its home-court winning streak to 14 games with a 77-58 victory over Elon on Wednesday night at Kaplan Arena. W&M shot 49 percent from the floor, knocked down ten 3-pointers and connected on 17-of-20 from the free throw line in outdistancing Elon. W&M remained in first place in the CAA at 10-3 in league and 16-8 overall, while Elon dropped to 11-15 on the year and 3-10 in CAA play.

Omar Prewitt led the Tribe, scoring 18 of his game-high 19 points in the first half to go with seven rebounds, four assists and two blocked shots. Sean Sheldon picked up his first career double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, while Marcus Thornton finished with 17 points and three assists.

The Tribe jumped out to an early advantage thanks in large part to the play of Prewitt and Sheldon. They combined for 24 of the Tribe’s opening 28 points as the Green and Gold opened up a double-digit advantage. W&M scored 11 of game’s first 13 points as four straight from Sheldon, including a pair of free throws, gave W&M the nine-point cushion.

Five straight from Elon closed the gap to 11-7 at the 13:51 mark, but W&M responded with and 8-2 run, including six from Prewitt. His 3-pointer from the left side extended the Tribe lead to 19-9. The Tribe lead remained in double digits, jumping to 30-15 on a Thornton setback jumper with four and a half minutes left in the half. The margin was 11 points following an Elijah Bryant jumper at the 3:20 mark, before the home team ripped off a 12-2 run to push its advantage over 20.

Connor Burchfield provided W&M with a huge lift off the bench, hitting back-to-back 3-pointers. A steal and fast break bucket from Thornton gave W&M a 17-point advantage and forced an Elon timeout. The Green and Gold run continued on a tough finish inside from Sheldon and a pair of Prewitt free throws, extending the lead to 42-21 with a minute left in the first half. W&M led by 19 at the intermission after shooting 51.7 percent (15-of-29), while limiting Elon to 36 percent (9-of-25) in the opening 20 minutes.

The visiting Phoenix scored eight of first 11 in the second half to draw within 14 points. Hamilton scored six straight points for Elon, including a steal and fast break lay-up to close the visitors to within 45-31 with 16:45 left.

After failing to hit a 3-pointer in the opening 20 minutes, Thornton knocked down back-to-back triples, including one of the step-back variety, to push the lead back to 18, 51-33, and the Phoenix never got closer than 15 points the rest of the way. His fast break lay-up off a Sheldon defensive rebound and look-ahead pass gave W&M a 60-40 lead with just under eight minutes remaining.

The cushion reached as many as 23 on a pair of occasions, including on Thornton’s third 3-pointer of the second half with 2:50 to play. From there, both teams emptied the bench and W&M picked up a 77-58 win, its 16th of the season. The 16 wins rank 10th in program history.

In a stark contrast from the earlier meeting this season, W&M limited Elon to just 3-of-22 (13.6 percent) from 3-point range, including only 1-of-14 from its top two scorers in Bryant and Tanner Samson. The Phoenix duo was 12-of-22 from long range and combined for 45 points in their home win over the Tribe in January. Elon finished the game shooting 40.3 percent (25-of-62) from the floor. Bryant led Elon with 15 points and 10 rebounds, but was just 5-of-15 from the field and 1-of-4 from 3-point range. Samson, who had 20 in the first meeting, finished with just two points and was 0-of-10 from 3-point range. Hamilton added 13 points, while Christian Hairston tallied 10 off the bench.

Playing without the services of guard Daniel Dixon, who was out due to injury, the Tribe received a number of contributions, especially from its freshman class. Rookie Oliver Tot garnered his first career start, finishing with three rebounds and two assists in a strong floor game. Greg Malinowski added six points, knocking down a pair of 3-pointers, to go along with two assists and fellow classmate Burchfield poured in six points on two 3-pointers. Tom Schalk added six points, four rebounds and a career-high three blocked shots off the bench.

W&M shot 49 percent (25-of-51) on the night, including a 10-of-24 (41.7 percent) effort from 3-point range. The Green and Gold continued its strong free throw shooting, connecting on 85 percent (17-of-20) from the charity stripe. The Tribe out rebounded Elon, 36-30, and dished out 14 assists on its 25 made field goals.

First day of a new month, and 1st March 2024 saw me covering the afternoon 22 from The Suthers School to Coddington. As I was heading out to cover a round trip on service 37/77 afterwards to allow a colleague to finish earlier, I opted to use OP86 on my 22 so that I could keep the same bus all afternoon rather than swapping it at Newark. It is seen at Coddington prior to me running empty into Newark to start my next bit.

Using Eq. 21 from mathworld.wolfram.com/RiemannZetaFunction.html (shown in the inset at upper left) it can be shown graphically that the Euler-Mascheroni constant (gamma) is the real part of the Riemann zeta function at s = 1 + it as t approaches 0.

This can easily be proved by letting s = 1 + it in eq. 22 from mathworld.wolfram.com/RiemannZetaFunction.html , then taking the real part of the result and letting x ~ sin(x) for small x. The result is eq. 56 from mathworld.wolfram.com/Euler-MascheroniConstant.html

After a great deal of effort and many, many hours of driving, riding motorcycles and walking, Lafcadio and Laurel found standing natural forest on peatlands. In the end, we were guided there by an illegal logger and as we stood at this spot chainsaws could be heard roaring in the near distance.

RAN Forest Campaigner Lafcadio Cortesi and Communications Manager Laurel Sutherlin traveled to Indonesia in July of 2011 to meet with and interview an extensive network of allies involved in the movement to resist the rampant deforestation and human rights abuses occurring there. They conducted site visits to remote villages of Siabu, Muara Merang and Tanjung Alam, each impacted in different ways by Indonesia's forest crisis.

First flown with the Boeing test registration N1786B, this aircraft was delivered to Hapag-Lloyd Airlines as D-AHFW in Jan-01. It was fitted with blended winglets in 2002.

In Nov-05, Hapag-Lloyd was renamed Hapagfly.com and a year later, in Nov-06 it became TUIfly.com. The aircraft was leased to Air-Berlin in Nov-09 and returned to TUIfly in Jun-12.

It was returned to the lessor in Oct-17 and was leased to Andes Lineas Aereas (Argentina) as LV-HKZ in Dec-17. It didn't stay in Argentina for long and returned to the lessor as OE-IGC in Nov-18. It was stored at Goodyear, AZ, USA.

In Apr-19 the aircraft was leased to ASL Airlines - France as F-GZTV. It was withdrawn from service and stored at Belgrade, Serbia in Nov-20. It was returned to the lessor in May-21 and leased to a new Croatian airline, ETF Airways, as 9A-LAB the following day.

The aircraft was immediately wet-leased to another new name in the airline business, MyWings, a 'virtual airline' based in Pristina, Kosovo. It returned to ETF Airways in late Sep-22.

From Oct-22 the aircraft was operated on some of ETF's own flights and operated many short-term leases for other airlines. In Apr-23 it was wet-leased to Transavia - Holland for the summer season, returning to ETF Airways at the end of Oct-23.

The aircraft was leased to Jet2 .com in late Mar-24 for the summer season. Updated 24-Mar-24.

I haven't posted many photos lately because I was busy crafting this F-22 from foam poster board. As soon as we have a calm day I will see if it will fly.

A superb sunny and warm summer's afternoon sees London General's RML 2371 looking immaculate after its 'facelift' following London General retaining the TfL contract to operate route 14 for another 5 years in early 2002 with the vehicle heading west along the iconic King's Road in Chelsea approaching the crossroads with Beaufort Street on the course of its journey on route 22 from Piccadilly Circus down to Putney Common with a London General Volvo B7TL PVL-class vehicle on route 11 along with a Travel London Dennis Trident on route 211 following in the distance.

This photo was taken on a Saturday afternoon which accounts for the PVL operating as an OPO vehicle on route 11 as back then route 11 was operated as a crew-operated route with Routemasters on weekdays, with route 11 not converting to OPO until 1st November 2003. Up until the late 1980s this busy road junction with King's Road and Beaufort Street still had a set of the old 1940s SGE traffic lights still in use prior to these SGE traffic lights being replaced by a set of modern 'Mellor' traffic lights as seen here.

I finally got one. This one started life in 1936 as a model III but somewhere along the way it was sent back to the factory for the IIIa upgrade. It could use a good CLA and the Elmar 3.5, but it works well as it is. I have an Industar-22 from my Zorki 2 on it for a little while.

030903-N-0435H-003 Pearl Harbor, Hawaii (Sept. 03, 2003)--USS Greeneville (SSN 772) departed for deployment Sept. 1, 2003, as part of Expeditionary Strike Group One, which set sail Aug. 22 from Naval Station San Diego for what would be the maiden voyage for the Navy's first ESG. The group, consisting of USS Peleliu (LHA 5), USS Germantown (LSD 42), USS Ogden (LPD 5), USS Jarrett (FFG 33) and USS Decatur (DDG 73), as well as the Marines of the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable), departed homeport following a compressed and rigorous training cycle. USS Greeneville recently completed sea testing for the Advanced SEAL Delivery System (ASDS). ASDS is an 65-foot mini-submarine, which has increased range, speed, and capacity over the current SEAL Delivery Vehicle which is an open, wet submersible, that transports SEALs in scuba gear, exposing them longer to the elements. The ASDS mini-submarine is operated by a crew of two and can carry eight SEAL team members. The vessel is connected to the host ship via a watertight hatch, and has sophisticated sonar and a hyper baric recompression chamber. U.S. Navy photo by Photographer's Mate 2nd Class Tracy R.
