Quand on fait de la photo de paysage, un des grands plaisirs est de s’informer de la météo et de sortir au moment propice. Après un orage. Un matin brumeux. Une fin de soirée chaude. Un matin de verglas etc. On se promène, on note des lieux dans notre tête ou dans un calepin en sachant que LE jour où il y aura du verglas, ou une tempête de neige ou
un brouillard épais, c’est LÀ et nulle part ailleurs qu’on ira. Puis on attend en vérifiant la météo. Et la veille d’un brouillard ou pendant l’orage, on se prépare. On sait ce que l’on va photographier. Ou du moins ce que l’on veut photographier. Puis, le moment arrivé, on part à la chasse à l’image. À la beauté. À la poésie.
Depuis que je fais ma photo quotidienne, il m’est rarement arrivé d’avoir le temps de faire tout ça. D’abord, je travaille, puis, j’ai fiston, puis j’ai ma vie, puis j’ai mon chum. Et ma famille, mes amis, mes loisirs... Et puis surtout, c’est « une par jour » de photo. Pas, « une quand la météo sera à mon avantage ».
Mais ce matin. Ce matin... Je me suis levée et j’ai vu que dehors… je ne voyais rien. Brouillard épais à ne pas voir les voisins. Ni ceux d’en face ni ceux d’à côté ni ceux de derrière. Toute de suite, j’ai paqueté mon sac photo, ai laissé les hommes ensemble devant leurs céréales et je suis allée, avant de me rendre au boulot, passer une heure à photographier le brouillard dans les rangs. Ah! Un pur bonheur comme ça faisait longtemps que je n’en avais pas vécu. Et je vous en partage un bout. Un bout de beauté; de poésie.

"Portrait 215"
Having shot a tomato like a human, I guess I've now shot a human like a tomato. Thank you, human!!! As was the case with yesterday's tomato, today's tomato was shot with four lights. The key is my Light Blaster with a yellow gel at camera-left. There is a strip box with a green gel working on the back of her right shoulder. There was a little light leak, and we both liked it....so we kept it. Next, there is a small softbox with a magenta gel behind, her over her left shoulder. Lastly, there is a blue-gelled strobe hitting the white background. I typically detest a piece of light hitting the nose from behind, but in this case, I thought it worked. I guess the difference in color makes it acceptable. Oh, the hard shadow on our lovely model's head was caused by the hard edge of the yellow lights modifier. It was not intended, but if you ask me, it was intentional. Thanks for dropping in!!

Went to my parents for dinner and noticed this fellow on the wooden wall on the path to my parents' apartment. I believe this is a skink.
I took an IR shot of me standing near a tree.
Camera info:
There was an Opteka R-72 IR filter on a Canon XTi, using Canon’s f/1.4 50mm lens, on manual focus setting. Autofocus needs to be off.
This image was a 5 second exposure, the widest aperture, set at f/1.4, and ISO at 1600, the highest ISO setting that the XTi can do. I prefer capturing IR shots in color versus black/white mode or sepia because I prefer to remove the color using photoshop, rather than relying on the camera’s automatic color removal. I mess with photoshop’s vibrance and saturation settings, along with other settings, to selectively and moderately desaturate the color.

Harrison Police unit 215, one of four 2015 Ford Police Interceptor Utilities HPD once owned. Both 115 and 215 were given the new livery in 2020 and were assigned to School Resource Officers. However 315 and 415 were decommissioned by the end of 2019. One of these vehicles, along with a 2016 Ford Police Interceptor Sedan, were sold to the German Township Police Department of Clark County, Ohio. Both 115 and 215 remain in service as of 2024.
