Over twenty years ago, my daughter spotted this tiny succulent in a store and wanted it... she named it Harold... for years it lived in her room on the windowsill and when she went off to college, I took over the care of him...
20+ years later and living happily in the sun-room, it's still going strong!!
I wonder, if we ever think of each other at the same time ..

Minou ist jetzt 20 Jahre alt und wie ich heute erfahren haben, sind das 95 Jahre in einem Menschenleben.
Sein Leben ist vielfach von schlafen und essen bestimmt. Aber er macht auch noch seine Runden durch den Garten und die Jüngeren aus der Nachbarschaft haben immer noch Respekt vor ihm.
Ich lieben ihn sehr und ich denke gerne an unsere gemeinsame Zeit.
Seit Freitag habe ich nun Sam aus Spanien bei mir aufgenommen. Er ist noch sehr scheu und total gestresst. Drückt mir die Daumen, dass er sich an uns "drei" gewöhnt und hier ein schönes Katzenleben haben kann.

He's almost lost all his winter hair, you can still see a bit of it on the side of his neck. Soon his coat will look like a shiny copper penny. Love this guy!

After a huge Weeping Willow, that had grown in the southwest corner of our garden fell over from a storm, I slowly transformed the space to include a variety of flowering plants, some of which were shared with me by two neighbors, and by allowing native plants to settle in. My goal was to slowly create a habitat that would attract a variety of wildlife.
I had the honor of having the top left photo used in a 2022 publication by a Swedish student working on her Master's degree thesis at Sverigens lantbruksuniversitet, Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences.
Her name is Hannah Holmberg. Her 96-page thesis, "Herbaceous Vegetation for Traffic Islands, A Design proposal in Bromma" is thoroughly researched, well written, and beautifully illustrated with her design plans and many photos.
In short, her proposal was about how to design both small and large traffic islands with perennial plants that would provide both aesthetic and ecological value to the public who walk, bike, or drive by day after day. Her hope was to inspire those passersby, and especially municipalities and other professionals to embrace these types of flora into the urban landscape. This particular plant, Hylotelephium, is slow growing, green all year round, produces flower stalks which attract beneficial insects and remain as dried clusters during the autumn, hence the name "Autumn Joy."

*Update to this photo on December 21, 2022, the beginning of winter solstice. The plant, which is highlighted in the center collage photo, is now approximately 22 years old. This was a transplant from my beloved neighbor, Pat's garden after she had moved away.

I cannot remember much about this photo. I know for that I took it with my Nikon FG camera a long long long time ago. I know for that I took this photograph somewhere in Macomb County in the state of Michigan. I have no way in which to be really sure about the date for when I took this. The location and I am venturing to hazard a guess here was at some kind of local park somewhere for within the area of what I beleive might have been Dogde Park road and 16 mile area somewhere amid Sterling Heights. My camera was positioned on a triopod for when I was like 20 years old way way way back in like what I guess might have been the warm summer nights of June 01st of the year of 1988. I was attempting to do some night photography by keeping the shutter lense open. I know so much more now about 20 years later on how to shoot incredible photos at night without flash for than I did all the way back in 1988 for when I was 20 years old. I am sure this photo was taken late at night.

Yeah, it really is Janis Joplin.
She actually looks fairly attractive here, which, she was not known for being.
This is a very good likeness to that particular photograph, believe that or not. :) (The soft rose color may may enhance her femininity, it seems to)
I remember that when I saw the photograph that I used for reference that it didn't look like the Janis that I know.
Unfortunately I no longer have that (printed image) photograph to show.
Recently I looked all over Google Images for this image, I never found it, but, I did find some that were very similar.
So, there are photographs of her being nice looking, especially before she got famous, I saw videos of her and she didn't look that 'rough', if you know what I mean.
So, from what I saw while searching, she was more than likely about 20 when this was taken.
Anyway, done in pencil from a small picture that I found in a T.V. guide.

We went to see our daughter at Queens for her 20th birthday. One of her gifts was a refurbished furniture with a turntable, CD player, and radio. Vinyl has made a niche comeback, stirring up memories, and brining back a nostalgic sound. The album covers artwork are so powerful, and bring back many memories. I find it interesting that the younger generation is connecting with that medium. It's like a yearning for the tactile vs the digital.
After brunch at Pan Chancho we went to the old record store on Princess Street, and picked up one Def Leppard, Pyromania, and, Abby Road from the Beatles. A great day was had by all. Several more in the comments.
