Totnes Hail & Ride service 'Bob The Bus' runs many services around Totnes town and neighbouring areas. Tuesdays & Fridays only it operates the 1S service to Stoke Gabriel. Pictured passing through the country lanes and the heavily laden Apple Trees beside Longcombe Farm is the newest vehicle of the fleet, an EVM bodied Mercedes minibus, RF16EHH, bound for Stoke Gabriel where it would then pick up a handful of passengers to take into Totnes for the morning.

A Cold April Morning
Up at 4.30am to see what the morning would bring. I was hoping for some more cold conditions, or perhaps a colourful sunrise. I headed towards Alston again and ended up at a location I found a couple of weeks ago with a comp I really liked, the mine area around Nenthead.

Nog tot en met november van dit jaar vinden er op verschillende locaties langs de Rechte Rheinstrecke werkzaamheden plaats. Het reizigersverkeer heeft nauwelijks last van deze werkzaamheden, maar voor het goederenvervoer zijn overdag slechts enkele paden beschikbaar. Hierdoor zullen zo’n honderd goederentreinen per dag gebruik moeten maken van een omleidingsroute. Een van de weinige treinen die wél gebruik maakt van de route langs de rechter Rijnoever is containertrein 40041 van SBB Cargo. Deze trein rijdt wekelijks tussen de DUSS Terminal in Keulen Eifeltor en Segrate, gelegen onder de rook van Milaan. Op woensdag 17 augustus werd de tractie voor deze trein geleverd door de 482 028 en de 482 003. We zien de trein ter hoogte van Assmannshausen.

Here is another shot from our wine tour last summer. The photo depicts the iconic Blue Mountain Vineyard from a different angle from previous posts. The conditions were hot and bright. If you look in the upper left hand corner at the lower slopes, you can see how dry the valley can get during the summer months. This is one of my favourite vineyards in the valley. The views and wines are marvellous. The photo was taken in August 2016, with my trusty Olympus digital camera. Enjoy.

This was captured on our recent trip to Etosha, Namibia. We had come across the hyenas at the waterhole all wanting a piece of the kill from the previous evening. This hyena seems to feel that this part of the kill is all his. He soon finds out that he is going to have to share along with other hyenas and jackals. It was an amazing morning and one we will remember always.

This copse of trees caught my eye from the top of the hill, so I took a walk around the fields in order to get a closer image of it. I loved the lines leading towards the trees and the Autumnal colours.

it's been a year or two since i bombed a hill but it was awesome to play with my new longboard
note to self though learn how to stop. i rode out the speed wobbles but there was no way i could power slide or drag a foot so i had to wait for a gap in the heather and try and step off going about 15-20 miles an hour. luckily for me i found a nice soft landing of a tiny strip of grass at the side of the road. not a graceful land but better than sliding across the tarmac :)

The Siskiyou Mountains encompass some of the most complex soils, geology, landscape, and plant communities in the Pacific Northwest. This is a country of narrow canyons and high, steep ridges. Elevations range from near sea level at the coast, to 7,533 ft (2235 m).
Someone with a sense of humor must have placed a few "coastal route" signs along the way just to make sure we were paying attention.
The thirteenth day of our May Road Trip took us through this remote and rugged area as we moved inland for the last few days of the journey.

Lavender fields in Provence are an awesome photographic subject, mainly because those coloured rows provide excellent leading lines. A lot of photographers go there before the harvest and I can now easily understand why. It was the first time for me in Provence and I was impressed on how many sources of inspiration I got while on the fields.
Apart from the "classical" photos during the day, I wanted to take a night pano since this area has a "fair" dark sky in the night (even if you can see a lot of light pollution near the centre of the surrounding villages). On my last day I found this spot thanks to my friend Antonio Gaudencio and I was lucky it was properly exposed for the Milky Way.
It wasn't a great night, because Italy lost against Germany in the Euro 2016 quarter of final... but a clear sky in a dark place like this brought finally some relief! :-)

When you are at the south-eastern hillsides of the Lake Iseo, you can be sure that you will enjoy a really beautiful view - the most iconic view of the lake. And at sunset you will be unavoidably enraptured by the southern part of the lake - the sky vibrant with the last fires of the day, the peaceful expanse of water bathed in golden light, the hills, the streetlights of the lakeside towns, and the charming village of Peschiera Maraglio just in front of you, nestled against the southern end of Montisola (see my two shots Rhythm 'n the Blue and A Saucerful of Secrets). But there is even something more than this - something you could easily neglet. All this beauty notwithstanding, if you are able to force yourself to turn your gaze by some ninety degrees, towards the Northern side of the landscape, then you will get your prize. It is another kind of beauty - darker, deeper, more mysterious: the glowing waters running towards the North, that silky hint of mountains in the distance, where the lake ends - and the sky streaked with sunbeams from behind the dark mass of Montisola - a crown of light against the falling darkness, a promise that the light will rise again from the ashes of the night.
Montisola, the main island of the Lake Iseo in Lombardy, Italy, ranks very high among touristic locations - in 2019 it was elected as the third best European tourist place. Peschiera Maraglio is the best known village in the island and is one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. It was the location of the Floating Piers in 2016. The silhouetted building on the dark ridge of Montisola is the Sanctuary of Madonna della Ceriola, marking the highest point of Montisola.
I have obtained this picture by blending an exposure bracketing [-1.3/0/+1.3 EV] by luminosity masks in the Gimp (EXIF data, as usual, refer to the "normal exposure" shot), then I added some final touches with Nik Color Efex Pro 4. Raw files has been processed with Darktable.
It was a sunny morning while we were travelling from Shimla to Kalka by Narrow Gauge UNESCO World Heritage train ! As we were descending downhills we were observing plantation through the stretched mountain rages ! This image had taken near Solan after where we observed more step by step farming descending through Himalayas. These are mostly used for growing rice, wheat and barley, quite common in east, south & south east Asia !

A lenticular cloud glows with the dawn light above Green Mountain and the Flatiron formation in Boulder Colorado. Technically known as “Altocumulus Standing Lenticular” these clouds form when air is forced up by mountains oriented perpindicularly to the flowing wind. At the crest of their movement clouds will form if there is sufficient moisture, shaped like flying saucers or pancakes, reflecting the gravitational spread of the deflected air. I’m unsure what causes the stacking that we see here. While the cloud appears stationary, the air is moving very quickly. The shape may change with time as the wind velocity changes. This cloud elongated after I took this photo (see future posts and link listed below).
While it looks like I’ve gotten carried away with the saturation and vibrance sliders, I’ve actually toned this down a bit. If you visit this link and input the date as Feb 6, 2016, starting at 6:45 am and ending at 7:30 am, you can see just how bright this cloud became, and watch the shape change with time. (#2)
