What do the trees know?
To bend when all the wild winds blow.
Roots are deep and time is slow.
All we grasp we must let go.
What do the trees know?
Buds can weather ice and snow.
Dark gives way to sunlight's glow.
Strength and stillness help us grow.”

Planting trees may be the single most important ecotechnology that we have to put the broken pieces of our planet back together.”

The bedroom of the Sultana had this wonderful bay window.
The sun breaks through an intense squall moving eastwards over Tasmania's Tarkine wilderness and spotlights serried ranks of trees damaged by a major fire around 2008.
The grouping of aged and ragged trees reminded me of the 'Entmoot' from Tolkien's master work where a circular council of the Ents of Fanghorn Forest debate what to do about Saruman and Isengard for days. It may well be such a gathering given the dark and mysterious nature of the Tarkine.
I'm not sure if that is Mt Holloway or Mt Norfolk or even Mt Edith in the background hence my reluctance to name it! If by chance a local sees this pic then please let me know :-)
Archive pic from 2014. I had a D600 back then which suffered from the infamous shutter lubricant meets sensor debacle. All the frames had upwards of 50 splatters across the sensor so I've been reluctant to ever work on them.
The two bright circular features lower left/centre are fat rain drops on the front element - another reason I avoided this frame for so long.

Conditions were 'almost' perfect at High Neb yesterday. Not a great composition as i was making the most of available light and colour. But a nice memory of a cold hour or so.

Ainda da tempo de colocar um Por do Sol especial para o Flickr, afinal é ele que nos proporciona essa confraternização entre pessoas que nunca poderia se conhecer se não fosse sua existencia.

My friend Jim Hauer, artist, fly fisher, entrepreneur, engineer, boat builder, etc., works one day a week at Tight Lines Fly Fishing Company in De Pere, Wisconsin. His dog, Mr. Muffin, quickly took on the role of shop dog by greeting everyone who came in the door.
I made this image in 2014 and since then, like many of the wonderful animals that come into our lives, Mr. Muffin has left us. Jim now is working with a rescue beagle!
I used window light and an open aperture to make this image.

We have winter coming early this year. Today Greater Vancouver has the first snowing in the area.
Have a great weekend!
This is snowy in 2014.
We had first snow in Vancouver area late last night. Everything is covered by the white powder this morning.
I have a walk in my neighbourhood and again I am shooting simplicity compositions.
Stay warm and have a great weekend my friends!

I had another busy day today...This time I was cleaning my car inside and out getting it ready for the winter. Tomorrow morning I am bringing it in for rust proofing (undercoating). Our long Canadian winters require lots of salt/sand on our roads which wreck havoc on our vehicles and cause them to rust. I also had lunch with my mom today and errands with the kids afterschool so it was late by the time I got home. The sun is setting so much earlier these days...eesh! So here is another mini pumpkin shot for today. I didn't feel like thinking too hard for a photo idea...lol. I really liked the lines of shadows given off from the railings on the deck. We have several trees in our backyard including a poplar tree and a maple tree and they are making a mess of leaves falling here, there and everywhere.

Roussillon is a France little town.
It is noted for its large ochre deposits found in the clay surrounding the village.
The "Chaussée des Géants" is admirable from an equipped path dug in the same ocher, that depending on the time of day and location takes colors ranging from yellow to orange and dark red.
Is an amazing place to visit, but it's not to simple to take beautiful shot in this place due to the hard lights conditions.

Coal buckets unloaded at nearby Council Bluffs, Iowa, cross the Missouri River, westbound to take on another load, on Nov. 15, 2014. The side-by-side bridges visible here were built roughly a century apart, on the left by Chicago, Burlington & Quincy, on the right by BNSF and opened just a couple years ago. The train will now twist through the small town of Plattsmouth, Neb., and thread its way toward a crew change at Lincoln.
