Bagan also Arimaddana or Arimaddanapura, "city breakers of enemies", and Tambadipa, "copper country" or Tassadessa, "parched land") is a historic royal city in Myanmar with over two thousand preserved sacred buildings made of brick. The area made up of temples extends over approx. 36 km² in a stepped landscape and forms one of the largest archaeological sites in Southeast Asia. Bagan is located in what is now the Mandalay Division, 155 km southwest of the city of Mandalay on the east bank of the Irrawaddy, halfway between its source and its mouth in the Indian Ocean and is now one of the most important tourist destinations in Myanmar.

It's not all double-deckers: sometimes an EMU comes to Jazz things up. One such unit (class ETR 425, not further identified) is on its way from Roma Termini to Frascati. Rome (Municipio VII), 14-04-2024.
Elektrische veteranen treffen elkaar in Pune, Maharashtra, India. WCM2 20176 vertrekt naar Mumbai terwijl WCM1 20071 op de achtergrond rangeert.
Type WCM (W=breedspoor, C=gelijkspanning, M=mixed traffic).

This poorly composed shot taken at Dinnington Junction sometime in 1987, shows two class 20's coming off the single line section of the South Yorkshire Joint line.
I think the train had come from the Haworth Glass Bulb factory but I'm not certain.

A woody perennial flowering plant of the genus Rosa, in the family Rosaceae. There are over three hundred species and thousands of cultivars. They form a group of plants that can be erect shrubs, climbing, or trailing, with stems that are often armed with sharp prickles. Flowers vary in size and shape and are usually large and showy, in colours ranging from white through yellows and reds. Most species are native to Asia, with smaller numbers native to Europe, North America, and northwestern Africa. Species, cultivars and hybrids are all widely grown for their beauty and often are fragrant. Roses have acquired cultural significance in many societies. Rose plants range in size from compact, miniature roses, to climbers that can reach seven meters in height. Different species hybridize easily, and this has been used in the development of the wide range of garden roses. 20083

This was a Leeds-Carlisle-Leeds special - I have no other details.
47444 was used for train heating purposes on this trip.
4744 was scrapped by M R J Phillips at Crewe Works in July 1995.

20083 backs onto to the 13.20 Glasgow Central to Paddington at Carstairs on Saturday 14th January 1984. Due to overhead line problems the single 20 was called upon to drag 86315 and train as far as Abington, some 16 miles to the south. The photo was somewhat rushed as I wanted to make sure I got on!
On 4 June 1997 Hunslet-Barclay class 20/9 20903 'Alison' (with 20902 'Lorna' on the rear) pass through Deganwy station on the Llandudno branch, with the weed-killing train and the spray in action. Two years later, during 1999, the loco by then in the ownership of DRS would work through to Kosovo on the 'Train for Life' charter taking aid to the war-torn country.

What an amazing variety of traction lined up in the yard of Sheffield Tinsley TMD on 12th May 1985, on just another routine day at the time. In the line up are included 31105, 37075, 47315, 56126 and 45003, with a few class 20s thrown in for good measure.

I flush out colors from our picture, it has more gray, than black and white; and more "Us's than You and I... only traces of pink as my secret message is left for the world to see.

The WCM5 was a watershed locomotive for the Indian Railways, being the first locomotive of any kind fully developed and built in India, and Incorporating the best features of the previous models. The WCM5 had a shorter nose, a bigger body, locomotive-specific window arrangements and regenerative braking and double-pan pantographs
The WCM5 was the mainstay of the Mumbai area up to the 1990s, hauling important express trains. They then started failing en-masse in the mid 1990s, and were all retired shortly later. The first WCM5, Nr. 20083, was named “Lokmanya”, and was the first-ever (out of a total of 21 units) Indian-made locomotive, assigned to the prestigious Deccan Queen. It was eventually scrapped, but sister locomotive, Nr. 20103, is on display in New Delhi
The shunter has just shut the ground frame at Fort William station as 20 083 eases down platform 1 while running round its train of two oil tanks. The tanks I suspect would have come from either Mallaig or the nearby traction depot and are being tripped to Mallaig Junction Yard.
Not a high quality image as it was an underexposed 35mm slide taken on Perutz CT100 slide film. I scanned it as I believed 20 083 was one of the few class 20's to retain a through steam pipe but sadly the image isn't of sufficient quality to clearly see it's buffer beam detail. So uploaded more as a record than a decent image.
Back in the 1980's it wasn't uncommon to find one of Glasgow Eastfield's allocated class 20's out based at Fort William for local trip work and shunting. Here snowplough fitted example 20 083 is seen doing a bit of station pilot work at Fort William station.
The loco left Scotland in March 1985 after being reallocated to the Eastern Region based at Tinsley depot in Sheffield. After further moves to Immingham and Thornaby its BR mainline working days ended based at Toton on the LMR where it was stored unserviceable on 6/1/89. The same month the loco was sold by BR to Hunslet-Barclay Ltd for rebuilding to a class 20/9 for the weedkiller trains project. Six months later it emerged from Hunslet-Barclay's Works in Kilmarnock resplendent as 20 903 on 2/6/1989. It was to be one of six private owner locomotives used for the summer weedkiller programme on BR with pairs allocated to the Chipman's Ltd, Schering Agriculteral Services and Fisons Ltd private owner weed control train sets.
