Easter is quickly approaching, and here’s another fun and easy way to make your Easter baskets more eco-friendly: make sweet little bunny rabbits out of washcloths! Choose new washcloths in a festive color, and bring them to life as cute inhabitants of Easter baskets, that may then be used as washcloths for bathtime. These washcloth bunnies are also a great alternative to plastic egg holders… stuff a few candy treats inside one of these critters instead! Read on for the super simple tutorial!

Materials You Will Need:

Washcloths

Rubber bands

Ribbon

Googly eyes

Pom poms

Tape

How to Make a Washcloth Bunny:

1) First fold your washcloth in half to form a triangle.

2) Then roll the washcloth from small point to long side.

3) Fold your rolled washcloth in half.

4) Fold washcloth in half again and fold the loose ends back toward the fold.

5) Place a rubber band around the washcloth about 2 inches from the fold.

6) Cover rubber band with ribbon.

7) Tape on googly eyes, and pom pom nose and tail.*I recommend using tape so your washcloth is not ruined by glue — because you’ll want to use it after Easter for tub time!

You can also place an egg in the back of the bunny and use it as a holder. These washcloth bunnies are so cute and they also make great baby shower gifts! Your kids will love these adorable bunnies to hop on into their Easter basket this year!

If you have through rummage through your archive to find something to process, then you know that another photography trip is in order in the near future. Another photo taken from our trip to Sawarna Beach some time ago now.

This place is definitely a photographer's playground. Interesting seascape, especially during low tide provides countless composition and framing. To tell you the truth, I might have another 2-3 frames that has potential for further processing.

This photo could be a view from the Mars Rover during a Martian Sunset. But its right here in Indonesia. Unfortunately, the beach is quite an adventure to get to. Yet its all worth the trek.

I wanted to have first hand info on what I could do w/ this Sony 20mm f/2.8 pancake lens. I might soon be shooting on "all primes" (today took only my: 20/2.8, 40/1.8 & 200/3.5 on a long flickr photo walk/meetup).

Here, I took my original image (350 dpi is native out-of-camera (OOC)).

Cropped the white area: sized to 72 dpi at 2600px wide is WHAT YOU SEE overlaid).

Cropped the red bordered area: sized to 72 dpi at 1600 pixels wide is WHAT YOU SEE here.

The lower layer was left alone at native resolution, with parts layered on top. Then I resized this TWICE for flickr upload to:

1) 72 dpi at 5400px wide, to "fit" the exact same "scale" as the two top layers.

2) then all layers (flattened) to 72 dpi at 2800px on the wide/long axis.

The point is, you can easily get web-size images from MASSIVE cropping at great sharpness & resolution from my 20MP sensor. Flexibility to get away from a zoom that underperforms in comparison. And did I mention this lens is tiny.

Inside the bordered areas, you cannot see the native image, only the overlays from the crops, re-sized down to 72 dpi first. Not a perfect test, but I can't really upload an 80MB on my free wi-fi. Cheers.

i found a Disney store Ariel doll for $15 yay!! and i got this pink eye lashes fore $2 then i got a pack of synthetic hair extensions for $15 then i got a chocolate brown wig for $22 and its actually an awesome quality wig!! i was soo happy when i got out of the shop but ended up getting really wet cuz the rain was pouring down..

During a hangout night (some time between 6/23 and 7/26), I complained about how we had no clue how to physically get to the top of the enclosure wall that needs to be stained. In the end, it was an unsafe ladder placement, plus having to lean past the point of impossibility -- the ONLY way this section could be conquered was to have someone support you, and to lean in such a way that you'd fall into the spiral stiars without support. So Lacey, Dave, and Evan helped me out up there, while Kipp & Casey stayed downstairs making out. At one point there were more hands on my ass than... ever? Thanks for not dropping me guys! Later, for the actual staining, Carolyn would go up, and I would support her by holding on to her belt loop with one hand, and her ass with the other. It was quite scary for her, and of course she had to go up 10+ times.

BACKSTORY: Anyone who reads our contract (link below) can see that it specified to move the closet and built-in shelves. But Virginia Design Builders's workers -- the workers hired by Daniel M. Lopez -- were unable to properly move the closet without destroying it. And they "accidentally" threw away our shelves. They also broke the trim at the edge of the closet.

And then guess what? The assholes refused to stain the broken trim (and everything else they broke/threw away too) to match the pre-existing color, leaving US with the job of restoring what they broke to the condition it was in before broken. Months of wood-staining hell thanks to the inability of Daniel M. Lopez's company to follow simple contractual instructions, as well as a total lack of honor in fully restoring damaged sections to their pre-damaged condition. There were a few parts that we legitimately would have needed to stain ourself, but they were the minority. In this picture, we are dealing with one of those parts: The wood used to create the enclosure for the extra ventilation ducts to travel through.

STAINING IS A PAIN: Just for reference, proper wood staining is a MAJOR MAJOR MAJOR pain in the ass. The wood filling, the sanding, the pre-conditioning, staining, the wiping, the dropcloths, the multiple coats of everything, the (4) polyurethane coats [which often required holding a lamp in one hand, to reflect light on it to ensure evenness], and the final sanding. And don't get me started on the timing: Stain 20 minutes after pre-conditioning, but only for 2 hours; stain in 20 minute cycles consisting of 4 sub-cycles: stain area #1, stain area #2, wipe area #1, wipe area #2. Then break, get new gloves, and start over. A 20 minute cycle might equal 2 shelves, or 2 boards from ceiling to floor. Our spreadsheet had over 200 cells. At the end of the day, the only way to get stain off your skin was to apply paint thinner directly to your skin in violation of the instructions, common sense, and one's best interests...

LEGAL: To see an official VA DPOR sanction of $500 (+$150) against Dan Lopez and Virginia Design Builders: www.acm.vt.edu/~clint/download/filedump/2008/daniel-m-lop... ... These people were suing him for $400K last time I checked.

To see OUR contract with Dan Lopez / Virginia Design Builders: www.acm.vt.edu/~clint/download/filedump/2008/daniel-m-lop... ... Just in case anybody doesn't believe me.

Continuing the countdown for today.

Took me all day to think up of something to represent 2, then it hit me, duh. Ironically, it won't matter what # pencil I use on the MCAT since it's a computer based test (CBT), done entirely on the computer. But I guess it fits in with a back to school theme.

I actually hate the phrase two number two pencils!

Submitted to macromonday's (8/31/2009) back to school theme.

Revelation 7:2-8 (ANIV)

2 Then I saw another angel coming up from the east, having the seal of the living God. He called out in a loud voice to the four angels who had been given power to harm the land and the sea: 3 "Do not harm the land or the sea or the trees until we put a seal on the foreheads of the servants of our God." 4 Then I heard the number of those who were sealed: 144,000 from all the tribes of Israel.

5 From the tribe of Judah 12,000 were sealed,

from the tribe of Reuben 12,000,

from the tribe of Gad 12,000,

6 from the tribe of Asher 12,000,

from the tribe of Naphtali 12,000,

from the tribe of Manasseh 12,000,

7 from the tribe of Simeon 12,000,

from the tribe of Levi 12,000,

from the tribe of Issachar 12,000,

8 from the tribe of Zebulun 12,000,

from the tribe of Joseph 12,000,

from the tribe of Benjamin 12,000.

DRAWING NOTES:

TIME OF DAY:

Not specified in the account.

LIGHTING NOTES:

The angel with the Lord’s seal is the primary source of light in this scene.

CHARACTERS PRESENT:

The angel with the Lord’s seal. A vast crowd of Christians, with the seal on their foreheads of the servants of God. One man, in green, is just about to be sealed by the angel.

RESEARCH/ADDITIONAL NOTES:

I decided to draw some of the people in the crowd in modern clothing (e.g. the woman in gold in the right foreground) and some in my more usual, ancient clothing (e.g. the man in green, who is just about to be sealed by the angel).

I decided to make the seal look like one of those wood and metal seals, which used to be used to stamp hot wax with a decorative seal design (and so close a letter or document and keep its contents secret) before sticky envelopes and self-sealing envelopes were invented.

My seal has a cross embossed on its surface, and it is imparting a glowing, golden cross onto the servants of the Lord God.

I decided to make the cross seals on believer’s foreheads stand out a bit more by adding white starry glows beneath the gold cross seal shape.

It took quite a while to colour up all those faces in this picture!

Some interesting points are made in the Bible Knowledge Commentary:

“7:1-3. The question was raised in 6:17 whether any would be saved in the Tribulation. This is answered in this chapter, and two classes of the saved are mentioned specifically: (1) those who are saved in Israel, (2) those of all nations who, though saved spiritually, are martyred. Four angels were told to withhold judgment on the earth until the servants of... God were sealed (v. 3). The seal on their foreheads symbolizes protection and ownership and God’s intention to protect the 12 tribes that are mentioned, much as He protected Noah from the Flood, Israel from the plagues of Egypt, and Rahab and her household in Jericho.

7:4-8. John heard the names of 12 tribes with 12,000 from each tribe... sealed and thus protected. The 12 tribes are not “lost” as some contend.

Attempts have been made to identify the 12 tribes here with the church, mostly to avoid the implication that this is literally Israel. The fact that specific tribes were mentioned and specific numbers from each tribe were indicated would seem to remove this from the symbolic and to justify literal interpretation. If God intended these verses to represent Israel literally, He would have used this means. Nowhere else in the Bible do a dozen references to the 12 tribes mean the church. Obviously Israel will be in the Tribulation, and though men do not know the identification of each tribe today, certainly God knows.

Much speculation has arisen about why the tribe of Dan is omitted. Joseph and one of his two sons, Manasseh, are listed, but Ephraim, Joseph’s other son, is omitted. Thus if Dan were included, there would have been 13 tribes. According to J.B. Smith, Scripture contains 29 lists of the tribes of Israel in the Old and New Testaments and in no case are more than 12 tribes mentioned (A Revelation of Jesus Christ, p. 130). The tribe omitted was usually Levi, from which the priesthood came. Inasmuch as it is normal to have only 12 and not 13 tribes, the omission of Dan is not significant. Perhaps Dan was omitted here because it was one of the first tribes to go into idolatry (Jud. 18:30; cf. 1 Kings 12:28-29). However, Dan is mentioned in Ezekiel 48:2 in the millennial land distribution.

The most important fact taught here is that God continues to watch over Israel even in the time of Israel’s great distress. There is no justification whatever for spiritualizing either the number or the names of the tribes in this passage, to make them represent the church.”

(public exhibit signage at the Columbus Rock & Mineral Show)

--------------------

Rock salt, also known as "halitite", is a crystalline-textured, chemical sedimentary rock composed of the mineral halite (NaCl - sodium chloride). Rock salt is an evaporite - it forms by the evaporation of water (usually seawater) and the precipitation of dissolved minerals. Other evaporites include rock gypsum (gyprock), rock anhydrite, and rock sylvite (sylvitite).

Rock salt has economic significance - it is mined as a source of salt for the food industry and as a de-icing agent.

Shown above is a map of Ohio depicting areas where salt or rock salt is produced. Vast underground salt mines are present in northeastern Ohio, in the Cleveland area. Some extend under Lake Erie itself.

Ohio rock salt occurs in the Silurian-aged Salina Group. Silurian-aged evaporites also occur elsewhere in the Great Lakes area of America. Other significant, large, and famous rock salt occurrences include the subsurface of the Gulf of Mexico and the Salt Range of Pakistan.

--------------------

From exhibit signage:

Solution Mining

Water softener salt is produced by a method called solution mining.

1) Water is pumped into a natural ground salt cavity.

2) Then the pure salt solution is pumped out.

3) The salt solution is partially evaporated.

4) The moist salt is put into presses or molds where evaporation is completed.

Qawwali (Urdu/Persian/Pashto/Sindhi: قوٌالی; Punjabi/Saraiki: ਕ਼ੱਵਾਲੀ, قوٌالی; Brajbhasha/Hindi: क़व्वाली; Bangla: কাওয়ালী) is a form of Sufi devotional music popular in South Asia, particularly in areas with a historically strong Muslim presence, such as Pakistan, especially Punjab and Sindh, and parts of North India. The style is rare, though not entirely absent, in North and West Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Kashmir. It is a musical tradition that stretches back more than 700 years.

Originally performed mainly at Sufi shrines or dargahs throughout South Asia, it has also gained mainstream popularity. Qawwali music received international exposure through the work of the late Pakistani singer Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, largely due to several releases on the Real World label, followed by live appearances at WOMAD festivals. Other famous Qawwali singers include Pakistan's Sabri Brothers.

Although famous throughout the world, its hub remains the Punjab province of Pakistan from where it gained entry into the mainstream commercial music industry and international fame.

The roots of Qawwali can be traced back to 8th century Persia (today's Iran and Afghanistan). During the first major migration from Persia, in the 11th century, the musical tradition of Sema migrated to South Asia, Turkey and Uzbekistan. Amir Khusro Dehelvi of the Chisti order of Sufis is credited with fusing the Persian and Indian musical traditions to create Qawwali as we know it today in the late 13th century in India (Hindustani classical music is also attributed to him). The word Sama is often still used in Central Asia and Turkey to refer to forms very similar to Qawwali, and in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh, the formal name used for a session of Qawwali is Mehfil-e-Sama.

Qaul (Arabic: قَوْل) is an "utterance (of the prophet)", Qawwāl is someone who often repeats (sings) a Qaul, Qawwāli is what a Qawwāl sings.

A group of qawwali musicians, called a party (or Humnawa in Urdu), typically consists of eight or nine men including a lead singer, one or two side singers, one or two harmoniums (which may be played by the lead singer, side singer or someone else), and percussion. If there is only one percussionist, he plays the tabla and dholak, usually the tabla with the dominant hand and the dholak with the other one (i.e. a left-handed percussionist would play the tabla with his left hand). Often there will be two percussionists, in which case one might play the tabla and the other the dholak. There is also a chorus of four or five men who repeat key verses, and who aid and abet percussion by hand-clapping.

The performers sit cross-legged on the ground in two rows — the lead singer, side singers and harmonium players in the front row, and the chorus and percussionists in the back row.

Before the fairly recent introduction of the harmonium, qawwalis were usually accompanied by the sarangi. The sarangi had to be retuned between songs; the harmonium didn't, and was soon preferred.

Women used to be excluded from traditional Muslim music, since they are traditionally prohibited from singing in the presence of men. These traditions have changed, however, as is evident by the popularity (and acceptance) of female singers such as Abida Parveen. However, qawwali has remained an exclusively male business. There are still no mainstream female qawwals. Although Abida Parveen performs many songs that are in the traditional qawwali repertoire, she does not perform them in the traditional qawwali style. Typically missing is the chorus which repeats key verses, as well as the handclapping.

Songs are usually between 15 to 30 minutes long. However, the longest commercially released qawwali runs slightly over 115 minutes (Hashr Ke Roz Yeh Poochhunga by Aziz Mian Qawwal). The qawwali maestro Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan has at least two songs that are more than 60 minutes long.

Qawwalis tend to begin gently and build steadily to a very high energy level in order to induce hypnotic states both among the musicians and within the audience. Songs are usually arranged as follows:

1. They start with an instrumental prelude where the main melody is played on the harmonium, accompanied by the tabla, and which may include improvised variations of the melody.

2. Then comes the alap, a long tonal improvised melody during which the singers intone different long notes, in the raag of the song to be played.

3. The lead singer begins to sing some preamble verses which are typically not part of the main song, although thematically related to it. These are sung unrhythmically, improvised following the raag, and accompanied only by the harmonium. After the lead singer sings a verse, one of the side singers will repeat the verse, perhaps with his own improvisation. A few or many verses will be sung in this way, leading into the main song.

4. As the main song begins, the tabla, dholak and clapping begin. All members join in the singing of the verses that constitute the refrain. Normally neither the lyrics of the main verses nor the melodies that go with them are improvised; in fact, these are often traditional songs sung by many groups, especially within the same lineage. As the song proceeds, the lead singer or one of the side singers may break out into an alap. Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan also popularized the interjection of sargam singing at this point. The song usually builds in tempo and passion, with each singer trying to outdo the other in terms of vocal acrobatics. Some singers may do long periods of sargam improvisation, especially alternating improvisations with a student singer. The songs usually end suddenly.

The singing style of qawwali is different from Western singing styles in many ways. For example, in words beginning with an "m", Western singers are apt to stress the vowel following the "m" rather than the "m" itself, whereas in qawwali, the "m" will usually be held, producing a muted tone. Also in qawwali, there is no distinction between what is known as the chest voice and the neck voice (the different areas that sound will resonate in depending on the frequency sung). Rather, qawwals sing very loudly and forcefully, which allows them to extend their chest voice to much higher frequencies than those used in Western singing, even though this usually causes a more noisy or strained sound than would be acceptable in the West.

* Instrumental: This is supposed to be the announcement of the arrival of Moinuddin Chishti, as Sufi believes their saints are free of time-space. Also that Nabi, Siddiq, Shaheed, and Saleh category of faithfuls are never dead, just gone into some other state from where they visit whenever they are mentioned, especially if there is a function in their honor.

* Hamd

* Naat

* Manqabat Ali

* Manqabat Ghous: Praise of Abdul-Qadir Gilani

* Manqabat Khwaja: Praise of Moinuddin Chishti

* Manqabat Shaikh: Praise of the Shaikh/Pir if the performance is at an Urs celebration

* Rang or Badhawa: If it is an Urs performance, then it is usually Rang, a poem by Amir Khusro. The audience is often asked to stand when the Rang is sung. If it is the Shaikh's birthday, it is usually the Badhawa.

April 5, 095/365 (1191/1461)- I was just playing with a macro lens today, and this #2 pencil was the most interesting thing on my desk to shoot. It also brings up the age-old question . . . if the most popular pencil is the #2, then why isn't it the #1 pencil?

I like this technique because it is easy and creates an awesome, grody distressed look.

1. Basecoat until the opaqueness you want (two coats here), let dry.

2. Then a quick coat of whatever colour (in this case, red), okay to be sloppy. Let dry.

3. Get some nail polish remover on a cotton pad and lightly swipe at the nail. You're trying to remove patches of that top coat, and not the basecoat.

4. Repeat with another colour if you want (I did with a purple here).

Great for zombie nails! I want to do an acid-wash denim palette at some point.

After going up the ladder, looking down, and realizing I would have 0 hands on the ladder while staining... I knew that falling into metal spiral stairs would be REALLY FSCKING PAINFUL. Fortunately, being a horder, I had all the couch cushions left over from the last 3 couches we trashed. These were shoved in between the steps, to provide a contingency plan: If falling, bounce and bruise -- don't break bones!

Months of wood-staining hell thanks to the inability of Daniel M. Lopez's company to follow simple contractual instructions, as well as a total lack of honor in fully restoring damaged sections to their pre-damaged condition. We called the broken trim "Mt. Trim", because it was the hardest spot to physical reach in the entire house -- and we had to go up there 10+ times to stain it.

Fort Wayne Fire Department. Ladder 12. Seagrave rearmount aerial

So I have no idea what the title of this song is... could someone tell me? It would be greatly appreciated. :)

______________________________

Last night was very interesting.

First the traffic was terribleeee. Took us 3.5 hours to get there. Shouldve taken 1-2.

Then it took us (me and my dad) a few minutes to figure out how to get down to the field (was at FedEx Field, Redskins stadium) and that we needed wristbands to get down there.

Even though it took us 3.5 hours though and we got there an hour after it started, Paul didn't go on until after 9 so we were safe :)

But then around 9:45 or so, not sure, didn't look at my phone... my dad had a heat stroke or something..

We were sitting down cause he was dizzy and my knees were hurting. And all of a sudden my dad's head went down, chin to his chest, his eyes still open and he started shaking A LOT like he was having a seizure or something.. I FREAKED OUT! I was so terrified. I was shaking him, talking to him, trying to get him to respond but he just kept shaking. It scared the hell out of me.

Finally the people behind and next to us realized something was wrong from my crying and me screaming "Dad! Dad! Answer me!!" and thankfully there was a medic near by to where we were sitting so he came over and they called EMTs and what not and layed my dad down and got him to come back and then took him behind the stage to where there was plenty open space, so I got to go backstage and my dad actually made a joke about that and said that he's a bad date. haha I love him. So then they checked his vitals and everything and he started looking good.

And then they put him on a stretcher and we went to the hospital. I got to ride in an ambulance for the first time and see all these sexy paramedics. :)

So yeah ambulance rides... wow and I thought riding with my mom was scary... they whip that things around turns and everything. haha.

So my dad was looking good last night but he had extra heartbeats or something so they wanted to keep him overnight for observation and have him see a cardiologist this morning.

I didn't leave the hospital till about 10 after 3 this morning and got home around 4:05. Such a long night. It's a good thing I'm a night owl. haha.

But now I'm just waiting for my mom and dad to get home from the hospital.

The End. :)

One may recall the story about how Virginia Design Builders stupidly built the framing for the spiral stairs with 2 small boards instead of 1 large board, and how they began cracking more and more. One time, I heard it crack and wasn't even on the steps. Scary stuff. So they tried to cheap out, and had to pay more because of it, due to having to pay for 2 sets of wood and 2 days of labor. Haha. Joke is on them. Except it was on us too, and we live here. One good thing came out of it: The new wood was higher quality than any of their other wood. It felt different. It didn't need as much wood filler. It sanded different. It stained different (took color a LOT easier, for one thing). This was not knotty pine, but something high quality. The wood is actually the most beautiful wood that we got out of the whole addition endeavor.

The asshole refused to stain ANY of it, despite the fact that the only reason the color now didn't match was due to their inability to properly execute a contract. (It was a 3 month contract and was not finished for over 3 years.) This left us having to stain WAY more wood than we otherwise would have. It was quite literally a difference of several months' work, as we both had jobs (at the time), and spare time at home has been in deficit for awhile.

STAINING IS A PAIN: Just for reference, proper wood staining is a MAJOR MAJOR MAJOR pain in the ass. The wood filling, the sanding, the pre-conditioning, staining, the wiping, the dropcloths, the multiple coats of everything, the (4) polyurethane coats[which often required holding a lamp in one hand, to reflect light on it to ensure evenness], and the final sanding. The liner Queen of Bermuda on the river Tyne at Vickers Armstrong's Walker Naval Yard.

The Queen of Bermuda (launched at Barrow 1931) with her sister ship Monarch of Bermuda (launched on the Tyne) were known as the "millionaires' ships" travelling between New York and Bermuda for the Furness Bermuda Line. The Queen of Bermuda served as an armed merchant cruiser and as a troop transport during World War 2 then returned to passenger service on the Bermuda run, being withdrawn and broken up in 1966.

I think this photo dates from 1948 when the ship was being refitted following war service. I believe the larger ship behind is the Strathaird (or one of the other Straths) that operated for P&O and also saw wartime transport service.

The sister ship Monarch of Bermuda returned to the Tyne, to Hebburn, after the war to be converted back to a liner and caught fire, burning out. However the ship was restored and served as a liner under a new name New Australia for the Shaw Savill Line, then as the Arkadia for the Greek Line from 1958.

A useful site to visit for more information on Vickers' ships from Barrow is as aiwacat says below,

This was taken on 9/20/10 while I was walking around downtown Paducah Ky. I wondered up on this beauty while the owner was sitting outside enjoying dinner.

The shot was at iso 100, 30 seconds, at 18mm. I then took the raw in DPP and created 5 shots -2,-1,0,1,2. Then I used Photomatix to do my initial hdr process. I saved it out as 16bit tiff. Next I opened it in Photoshop and used Nik Pro Contast, Topaz Adjust 4 custom HDR setting, Topaz clean 2, Nik Darken/Lighten Center. And I finished up with some minor curves adjustment and a bit of sharping.

Izola is an old fishing town and a municipality in southwestern Slovenia on the Adriatic coast of the Istrian peninsula. Its name originates from the Italian Isola, which means island.

An ancient Roman port and settlement known as Haliaetum stood to the southwest of the present town as early as the 2nd century BC. The town of Izola was established on a small island by refugees from Aquileia in the 7th century . The coastal areas of Istria came under Venetian influence in the 9th century. The settlement was first mentioned in writing as Insula in a Venetian document entitled Liber albus in 932AD.[1] It became definitely the territory of the Republic of Venice in 1267, and the centuries of Venetian rule left a strong and enduring mark on the region. The Venetian part of the peninsula passed to the Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation in 1797 with the Treaty of Campo Formio, until the period of Napoleonic rule from 1805 to 1813 when Istria became part of the Illyrian provinces of the Napoleonic Empire. After this short period, during which Izola's walls were torn down and used to fill in the channel that separated the island from the mainland, the newly established Austrian Empire ruled Istria until November 1918.[2] Then Istria became part of the Kingdom of Italy, until Italian capitulation in September 1943, whereupon control passed to Germany. Izola was liberated by a naval unit from Koper at the end of April 1945. After the end of World War II, Izola was part of Zone B of the provisionally independent Free Territory of Trieste; after the de facto dissolution of the Free Territory in 1954 it was incorporated into Slovenia, then a part of Yugoslavia.[3] The newly defined Italo-Yugoslav border saw the migration of many people from one side to the other. In Izola's case, many Italian speakers chose to leave, and in their place Slovenian-speaking people from neighbouring villages settled in the town.[3]

In 1820, a thermal spring was discovered in Izola, leading to the town's earliest forms of tourism. Between 1902 and 1935 the Parenzana, a narrow-gauge railway line connected the town to Trieste and Poreč (Known as Parenzo until 1947). Today Izola has many hotels near the sea, a famous discothèque (Embassy of Gavioli) Ambasada Gavioli, many art galleries, summer concerts, street performances and a movie festival.

One way is to cut up the stalks into one-inch pieces and stew them (boil in water); it is only necessary to just barely cover the stalks with water because rhubarb stalks themselves contain a great deal of water; add 1/2 to 3/4 cup of sugar for each pound of rhubarb,[2] then add cinnamon and/or nutmeg to taste. Sometimes a tablespoon of lime juice or lemon juice is added. The sliced stalks are boiled until soft. An alternative method is to simmer slowly without adding water, letting the rhubarb cook in its own juice.

At this stage, cooked with strawberries or apples as a sweetener, or with stem or root ginger, rhubarb makes excellent jam. Other fruits, with the addition of pectin (or using sugar with pectin already added), can also be added to rhubarb at this stage to make a variety of jams: the fruit is added at a ratio of two parts fruit to one part rhubarb, consisting of strawberries, raspberries, or chopped plums, apricots, or apples. Boiling should continue for at least ten minutes after all fruit is completely softened, depending on whether a simple refrigerated jam is made, or if (with longer cooking) jam is to be bottled for a long shelf life.

To make a "sauce" of rhubarb (to which dried fruit could be added near the end), continue simmering 45 minutes to one hour at medium heat, until the sauce is mostly smooth and the remaining discrete stalks can easily be pierced with a fork, which yield a smooth tart-sweet sauce with a flavor similar to sweet and sour sauce. This sauce is called rhubarbsauce, analogous to applesauce. Like applesauce, this sauce is usually stored in the refrigerator and eaten cold. The sauce, when stewed over medium heat only a short time (about 20 minutes) and with only a little water so that the rhubarb stalks stay mostly discrete, may be used as filling for pies (see rhubarb pie), tarts, and crumbles. Sometimes stewed strawberries are mixed with the rhubarb to make strawberry-rhubarb pie. This common use has led to the slang term for rhubarb, "pie plant". It can also be used to make a fruit wine.

In former days, a common and affordable sweet for children in parts of the United Kingdom and Sweden was a tender stick of rhubarb, dipped in sugar. It is still eaten this way in western Norway, and other parts of the world. In the UK the first rhubarb of the year is harvested by candlelight in dark sheds dotted around the noted "Rhubarb Triangle" of Wakefield, Leeds, and Morley,[8] a practice that produces a sweeter, more tender stalk.

Isis City, Siren

Following Myficals’ trail, we come to a set of photos at Burn 2, which is active in October. I plan to revising Burn 2 then. In the mean time, I will go to a few places that have been showing up in my Google+ newsfeed.

Isis City-Siren is built vertically on floating platforms of earth, some of which are connected by suspension bridges. The physics of this realm baffle me. Each platform has an interesting and picturesque building or landscape on it. Several that I visited had stage sets for some various S&M games. There were cages to lock up people, that sort of thing.

The Lockheed T-33 Shooting Star is an American-built jet trainer aircraft. It was produced by Lockheed and made its first flight in 1948, piloted by Tony LeVier. The T-33 was developed from the Lockheed P-80/F-80 starting as TP-80C/TF-80C in development, then designated T-33A. It was used by the U.S. Navy initially as TO-2 then TV-2, and after 1962, T-33B. Despite its vintage, the venerable T-33 still remains in service worldwide.

Abstract

The automated radiosynthesis of [18F]fluorocholine was carried out using a modified reactor design in the GE TracerLab FX(FDG) module. This PET imaging tracer was synthesized in two steps and involved the generation of nucleophilic [18F]fluoride using Kryptofix 2.2.2 technology. The first step was the synthesis of [18F]fluorobromomethane by the reaction of dibromomethane with [18F]fluoride mediated by Kryptofix 2.2.2. Then the substrate N,N-dimethylaminoethanol was N-alkylated with [18F]fluorobromomethane to give the [18F]fluorocholine as the bromide salt. Purification of the salt using Sep-Pak silica gel gave [18F]fluorocholine in a radiochemical purity ≥99% area. This new reactor design in the TracerLab module produced high radiochemical purity and reproducible yields of [18F]fluorocholine. Furthermore, this automated approach could be implemented for routine PET imaging of oncological disease states in the Nuclear Medicine clinical setting.

Central Valley Variety, 20 July 2007

Daughter Caroline was at a summer camp in the Santa Cruz Mountains, near Felton, California and on Friday afternoon, 20 July 2007, I drove to the area to be ready to pick her up in the morning. IIRC, I car camped in the mountains that night on a side road near her camp.

But there were trains to see en route from Sacramento to Santa Cruz.

I knew that I'd left a bit ahead of the San Joaquin 704, and was thinking of one particular place to shoot it. In the event, I would up getting it at Twin Cities Road between Galt and Lodi, in push mode with F59 2015 propelling it at or near 79 MPH past some sunflowers.

Continuing south into Woodbridge,California (north Lodi), a mural caught my eye. It was all nice and western, including a Great Western Castle class 4-6-0 pulling a train through cowboy country. If Robin Coombes over comes to town, he will want to see that!

In Lodi, I found GP18 CCT 1790 switching and then followed the Central California Traction Company's Lodi train back to Stockton, shooting it between Lodi and Stockton and then in Stockton as it ran on and near streets en route to the BNSF interchange at Mormon Yard.

Then it was over to the Alatamont Commuter Express (ACE, SP) station for the arrival of what was probably Train 6, but first a UP northbound came by with patched Geeps, a DRGW GP40-2 and SP GP38-2.

Then the ACE train arrived and discharged its passengers before MPI F40PH-3C #3104 took the train to the old maintenance facility south of the Stockton diamonds.

I resumed my trip toward Altamont Pass and Santa Cruz, but stopped off at Lathrop where I caught what was probably the Tracy Turn, first next to some code lines and then against the sunset across the fields.

Not bad at all for maybe 2 hours of rail photography.

GREEN LIGHT???

Wait, what??? During my holidays, I'd gone down to photograph the steel train 8 or 10 times. Each time I'd wait at Patterson station for the train to appear, then when it passed, I move up the line towards Highett as the steelie would be held at Moorabbin. The hold would vary from around 10 minutes to up around an hour before they got a path out. Today I decided to go into the station as I wanted to get some shots from platform 2 then go around to 3 for some close ups. When I got down onto the platform, one of the Metro guys was wandering around down on the tracks. We were having a chat and I was telling him about some of the long waits I'd had just up the line during the holidays and how I was doing it differently today. He laughed and said given the problems they currently had down at Frankston, they'd probably hold the steelie at Moorabbin all afternoon. Good news until they rolled under South Road 10 minutes later. I thought they had a bit too much momentum up and couldn't believe it when I turned and saw the green stick. There's no winning some days....

The full run of the train consists of three parts:

1) Train arrives at the loading station. The train is powered by two Lego PF motors and controlled by an Mindstorms EV3. It runs at speed three until the color sensor reads the white tile between the rails (= goto speed 1) resp. reads the red tile (= goto speed 0, stop). In previous video, you can see more details of the train and how the EV3 controls the motors.

2) Then the train wagons are loaded with 4 containers by the Delta Robot. The colored bricks in the containers represent the candy in the final setup. In this video, you see already the conveyor belt. The containers are manually fed in this test (outside the range of the camera), this will be also fully automated in the final setup.

3) Train drives away at speed 3 once the loading is finished.

The largest building at Glendalough, Co. Wicklow, Ireland is the cathedral, which was built in several phases from the 10th through the early 13th century. The earliest part is the nave with antae for supporting the wooden roof. The chancel, sacristy, and north door were added in the late 12th and early 13th centuries.

The chancel arch and east window were once finely decorated, but many of the stones are now missing. Under the south window of the chancel is a wall cupboard and a piscine (basin used for washing sacred vessels). A few meters south of the cathedral is an ancient cross of local granite with an unpierced ring, which is commonly known as St. Kevin’s Cross.

This was my first experiment with the camera in the Apple iPhone 5. I made five versions at -2, -1, 0, +1 and +2, then made a composite with Nik HDR. Very bad chromatic aberation, partly cured by a lot of Photoshopping. But in general a remarkable job for such a little camera. The cranes, of course, influenced George Lucas's concept in Star Wars.

I love this one the most of the 2. Then, I noticed that these artworks are from one of kiraz color works from Jours de France! Where 2 girls are sitting by the pool! Haha the group must have gotten it from there! wild!LOL!
