A true shepherd. He does a lot of careful overseeing with the baby.
Of course I'm always careful and they are never left alone with eachother. I wish more people would advocate for their dogs and offer a fair life when kids are involved.

I found these long-unused, treasured vehicles in a neighborhood across the River. Early spring--1st day warm enough to draw outside. April 14, 2016 There's a story about this. Read it: www.urbansketchers.org/2016/04/two-cadillacs.html#more The lead up sketch flic.kr/p/GeXn3q
Barney sitting inside my favourite old oak tree. It's huge, must be at least 4-5 hundred years old but more than likely, a couple of centuries older than that. It sits in a field, on the edge of a footpath that I suspect has been in use for a very long time indeed, by people & livestock. Certainly there are signs that the surrounding land has been farmed for generations upon generations... If only trees could talk, I'm sure this one could tell some interesting tales! This shot was taken at the beginning of the month & we've since had a couple of terrible storms... I was relieved when I revisited the other day & found the old oak still standing strong, only a few twigs had been blown off. I hope it lasts many more years!
Obviously, the base of this oak has hollowed out & there's a pretty roomy space inside... In the spring, I've seen lambs venture in while playing & in the summer, sheep go & lie in there, to escape the sun & cool off. No sheep are out in the field at the moment but Barney was quite keen to go & sit in the tree for a while. In fact, he didn't really want to come out again when I decided it was time to carry on with the walk, I think he felt nice & safe & cosy in there :)
