"In Your Arms"

I feel like Superman

They gonna remember me

I think I know I can

Who says it's hard to reach

Who's gonna stop me on the road to success

I don't know

They tried to break me down

But I'm still on my feet

This city's full of life

So why is it hard to breathe

Oh why did God create this world so unfair

I don't know

Sometimes I feel like I can't run, I can't crawl

And sometimes I feel like I ain't nothing at all

Life is a journey where you stumble and fall

But I'm okay

When I lie down in your arms

Oh oh oh oh oh [x3]

When I lie down in your arms

Oh oh oh oh oh [x3]

When I lie down in your arms

I feel like moving back

Sometimes it's hard to dream

The life I chose is past

It's moving without me

Who doesn't want a machine so they can go back in time

I don't know

My time went by too fast

There's no one left but me

I've got a nine to five

And it gets the best of me

This is the life I'm gonna live to the end

But I'm okay

When I lie down in your arms

Oh oh oh oh oh [x3]

When I lie down in your arms

Oh oh oh oh oh [x3]

When I lie down in your arms

Sometimes I feel like I can't run, I can't crawl

And sometimes I feel like I ain't nothing at all

Life is a journey where you stumble and fall

But I'm okay...

1st prize, B&W category SPPQ (Société de promotion de la photographie du Québec)

Especially proud of this one as it showcases the Peregrine Falcon pair I had been following for more than 3 years at the old Turcot Interchange in Montreal.

A hard shot to get, with the high contrast. I had to seriously underexpose this to preserve the highlights on the water.

Iguanas can range from 5 to 6 feet including their tail. The two species of lizard within the genus Iguana possess a dewlap, a row of spines running down their backs to their tails, and a tiny "third eye" on their heads. This light-sensing organ is known as the parietal eye, visible as a pale scale on the top of the head, and cannot make out details, just brightness. Behind their necks are small scales which resemble spokes, known as tuberculate scales. These scales may be a variety of colors and are not always visible from close distances. They have a large round scale on their cheeks known as a subtympanic shield. Their diet consists of mostly vegetation.

Iguanas have great vision and can see shapes, shadows, colors, and movement at long distances. Iguanas use their eyes to navigate through crowded forests, as well as for finding food. They use visual signals to communicate with other members of the same species.

The tympanum, the iguana's ear drum, is located above the subtympanic shield and behind the eye. Iguanas are often hard to spot, as they tend to blend into their surroundings. Their scale colors are a mode of hiding from larger predators

Assignment: PCA 43 "Pattern"

Deadline: October 19th, 2008

Image Tag: pca43

From: Judy Knesel

Mission:

Pattern and repetition is used in many of the arts, like poetry and music for example. We are attracted to visual patterns because they are oddly comforting. Our emotional response is aroused when a single design element is multiplied into a repeated pattern.

Pattern is in so many things around us that sometimes we just don't notice it any more. Your mission is to stretch your imagination and post a wall-worthy photo of pattern that is either created by you or found in life around you. But no buildings.

WIT : well i kinda thought of just the garlic and doing some close ups of that but once i got slicing i just seemed to chop up anything in the kitchen that had an internal shape, was kind of lacking colour so i threw in a tomatoe for a splash of red. It not quite as i pictured it in my mind and i am not sure if the black background wouldnt have been better if it was on the chopping board. Anyway, here is it disect at your leisure

They all won a gold medal and she was so happy:)

(*I did not take this picture, I only edited it a little. I took it from the team's website)

This is Calatrava's magnificent Sala Principal at the Palau des les Artes in Valencia. This is one of the reasons I went to Valencia. I'd seen various shots of this which immediately captivated me - but seeing this for real - wow what a space - its cavernous but the beautiful sweeping lines, and again the repetition, use of mosaics all amazing - and surprisingly quiet too.

Technically this was a huge challenge - I was on a guided tour with 15 or so other people. We arrived here and our guide started her spiel. The space was dark much darker than I'd anticipated - but I learnt later that the roof was closed The rest of the party were already in the centre - just where I wanted to be, so I had to wait until everyone was leaving to quickly get to my position. I'd fired off a couple of test shots. As everyone was leaving I shot 6 shots - handheld in portrait at ISO 3200. They're the only shots I took - but they worked. Darker than my recent work I know - but you have to adapt to the conditions - I will be back - and hopefully when the roof is open to flood the space with light - but for now - I'm happy

Thanks as ever for all of your support - really do appreciate it very much.

This photo just won 1st runner up in the Columbus Dispatch "Your Best Shot of Ohio 2009" Photo Contest.

Tim was driving down 23 and I thought I would get a picture of the sunset. Then I saw the barn up ahead. It was pure LUCK that I even got this picture. We were going 60 mph down the freeway and I rolled the window and got lucky. I love it!
