This is not my homeplace, this is Oldedalen in Nordfjord on the way to Briksdalsbreen. It is 1hour 15minutes north of here. We were on our way to a one night vacation in Ålesund with my mother.
The plan was to use the lovely weather to do a little sightseeing on places close to the route to Ålesund, before spending the evening in town, and then returning the next day.
My mother Maria is born in 1940, and has a few problems after she got cancer in her ear in 2000. The surgery gave her much the same problems as a stroke would have. She is deaf on one ear, paralized on one side of her face, has poor balance, struggle with noise as it can give her a terrible migraine for days and the radiation took away much sense of taste.
Still she keep fit, loves to be grandma, and live in the house she and my father shared. She lives at Voss where I grew up, so it is nice to be able to spend a little fun time together.
She also love Britain, as Mette and I do. She worked two years as a Salvation Army offiser at an orphanage in Bristol, England, before she married, and have loved everything about the nation since! She has been back several times after she retired.
There are more of my holiday snaps (and some from Mette) in the first comment.

The other day i put this shot of North Castle Street on the Cullen Past & Present FB saying "you must be a fit bunch up there in Cullen " and then just sat back for a day and watched the locals reminiscing about their youth and childhood .Some with tales about when there was a wheelbarrow race around the town pushing someone up this hill and the next one to it in a wheelbarrow and they had to stop at every pub and have a pint then change over .....it took over 1hour to finish, other saying in the Winter they would sledge down these hills........and do you remember so & so .......old photos were posted ....great tales.....from one photo
I tend to use my cell phone for the time these days and rarely use a watch. The only time I wear a watch is when I travel to England (takes me through three time zones). Our clocks moved forward 1 hour on March 11 here in USA and the clocks moved forward 1 hour March 25 in the UK. Today I remembered to change my watch.

February, 27. Another journey to the shore. Late afternoon while the sky was stormy and the light was gentle and forgiving. At a certain point, it felt as if we had a gigantic lamp over the sea waters. The sea was rising but still we had 1hour left until the full peak so, at least, an hour left of light to shoot. The water moved slowly designing the most wonderful curves on the sand and the white foam gently wrapped around the rocks on the shore. I could spend hours documenting these movements. I am becoming addicted to the sea and its mist. Today the weather conditions are very promising again, see you around here or some place else around.

This is from our hike up on Hallingskarvet, looking down on the edge where we came up. The ascend up was by a path covered with large tone steps, (2000 steps), built by locals with the help of Sherpas. From here, it is still 1hour of hiking before you reach to top.
Thanks for stopping by

Playing with the waves does good to breast, hip n thigh
(follow the rules for safety):
Respect this TIME RATE:
15 minutes in the water - 5 minutes out on the beach (and back in)
or
30 minutes in the water - 10 minutes out on the beach (and back in)
or
3 hours in the water - 1hour out on the beach (and then back in)
3-1-3-1-3-1-3-1-3-1-3-1-3-1-3-1-3-1-3-1-3-1-3-1-3-1-3-1-3-1-3
This is the "3/1" rule of thumb. Do not let yourselves be fooled by the
freshness of the water and the sense of bodily freedom. Fighting with
the waves is SPORT and should be treated as SPORT. This is why timing
is very important. Just think that if you get exhausted on running the
worst you will get is heavy panting, lung pain and crabs. In the sea,
well, you get drowned!

I am sorry, I did really think I could stay on Flickr a week or so longer this season. But that was last week, so you alreaddy know that didn't go to plan. As always, spring and spring work, came as a huge surprise to me.
We have had an amazing weather the last week, so warm and wonderful, so we forget that the nights brought frost. So we have been able to maintain some of the fences, I have spread a little manure so it is easier to muck in the barn, some firewood have been cut and split, and so on.
We have an old, very manual barn, so during winter I spend about 5 hours a day, all days, working in the barn. 1hour more if Mette is unable to take part in the evening. All other work done, as bringing home bales, forest work, clearing snow and so on, is on top of that. And that is the slow season as a farmer.
Getting out the heifers, and cows on their 2 month yearly milking break, reduce barn work with about 1,5 hour, but sadly the spring tasks fill the rest of the day. Spring is rather busy as there is so much work to do in a limited time. You can't spread manure in grown grass, maintain fences after the animals are let out, plow in mid summer. Still it is a joy doing this work, it is what later bring crops and thereafter milk and meat and income.
So, I am sadly off Flickr for the summer again. I might find a few days in between to look in and post and comment on a few photos. But it is not how I like Flickr, I like to use the time needed to enjoy your photos and great comments. It is a give and take, only posting my own photos without being able to look in to your Flickr streams is not my kind of joy.
All the best for summer of 2021. I hope you all get the best summer possible, and that you will be able to live more end more like normal as the madness fade into a really bad memory.
There are a few videos, and many photos in the first comment. All videos by Mette, risking bodily harm taking them! Which she, of course, just laugh at.

In the modern metropolis that is Hong Kong the stars are rarely visible due to atmospheric pollution from Asia's "brown haze" - a cocktail of airborne particles and pollutants that obscure the night skies above. In this Megacity space is at a premium and the feeling of confinement is exaggerated by using the extreme distortion of the fisheye and shooting at ground level looking upwards.

Lake Eyre in the remote outback of South Australia is the complete antithesis - a vast and desolate ocean of endless horizons, spanning the worlds largest drainage basin and covering an area about the size of France, Germany and Italy combined.
A place where silence courts solitude and the perfect vantage point for observing the southern hemispheres bountiful skies.
Digital was used to shoot the cityscape and the long exposure advantages of film were utilised for the star trail exposure of approximately an hours duration. To create this composite image the two exposures were then combined using software.
These two extremes of environment are unified in a single frame with the curves of the buildings and the lines from the star trails complementing each other nicely.
