I want my two dollars! Two Dollars!!!!!!!!

.....well, it was one year ago tomorrow (11th January) that I gave up smoking.

I had this big long speech I was going to say here, but all I want to say is...

Thank you to you all for your encouragement, you helped me do this too....my flickr friends are the best...!!!

It was hard and at times is still hard, after over 30 years of smoking at least 20 a day, I didn't expect it to be easy....but here I am 1 year smoke free....and feeling great...!!

The photo here is one of the first I took with the camera I bought when I gave up....

the camera was my incentive to give up...

It was one year ago today,i started my Endworld series. So .... Why is that important?

well for starters, it was one of the most challenging, exhausting, exciting

projects i have done, especially given the "1 every day" pressure.

The story itself now has 28,648 combined views. The series, and the

physical book are a couple of my most proud possessions. But with Endworld,

the pushing of some friends, and some of my more recent contest news,

it made me aware that i should do more than just hobby play on flickr.

So .. today, 1 year since i started with T h i s ..... i now feel very much like a

Grown-up fancy pants, by proudly but somewhat nervously presenting

Took this over a year ago, just looking through lightroom and thought it was deserving of a post

This is my go to Starbucks, leaving Chicago and heading south off of I-65 at Exit 139.

Preliminary reports from the National Weather Service indicated 23 tornadoes hit Indiana during severe weather outbreak on Sunday, Nov. 17.

The most powerful twister was an EF3 that roared through Tippecanoe County. Preliminary reports show that six different EF2 tornadoes hit several different Indiana counties.

NWS said the number was a daily record for the month of November in Indiana. Sunday was the third most active tornado day in state history. The record number of tornadoes in the state is 37 on June 2, 1990.

The November 17, 2013 tornado outbreak was the deadliest and most violent tornado outbreak on record during the month of November in the U.S. state of Illinois. The event resulted in many tornadoes across Illinois, Missouri, Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, and Tennessee with at least seven fatalities. Damaging straight-line winds were seen over a larger area including Iowa, Wisconsin, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, and New York.

This is the only "real indepth" drawing that I have done for myself. It was completed the summer after High School. The picture is slightly altered from a magazine photo. It is drawn with pencils ranging from 2H to 8B in hardness.

They don't gop together quite as well as some of the others, but it's still nice to see an remember. I have that same feeling of relief and springtime energy, even though we had such a wimpy winter. I love the longer days. Goodbye Weltschmerz, hello Spring!

The Wild Beast Mister Funiku Ookami at his reserved seat!

By the way, his alias name "Funiku Ookami" will be spelled like 腐肉狼 and it means "Rotten Meat Wolf" ;)

My beloved scooter, a Honda Elite, 250 cc, powerful enough to get on the highway got stolen exactly 1 year ago from my parking slot outside my home. I miss my scooter!

Especially now with Spring weather and so much beauty all over town. Riding this scooter was a lot of fun, for Sumo too, who on occasion would ride along in my special carpet shoulder bag slung across my body. He would sit on my right thigh and snap at the air and never show any concern about speed or bumps or other dogs or anything. In fact having lost my dreams and trouble seeing the future, I could see myself on a scooter with a dog! So returning from Switzerland where I had eyed so many, I noticed the sign up on Trader Joe's bulletin board for this scooter for $1000. The doctor's wife did not like scootering around town, bless her heart. In fact I was ready to kiss her feet in gratitude, and told her so!

Sometimes I would just go hunting for images on my scooter with my Nikon. While my VW van was on his 3. engine installation (2 new ones installed by 2 reputable mechanics failed for some mysterious reasons) I used this scooter to go to work even during winter, a challenge for sure.

The silver lining is that I use my bike more, that I did not end up living on a hill and on the land I had bought with big dreams - and then sold, for a profit. So, I really don't need a scooter and bicycling is surely better for my health! But the scooter was so much fun! Replacing a scooter with a less powerful, newer version would cost double to triple or more of what I payed originally.

Don't be fooled by the VW sign, the first owner must have been a lover of VWs.

The park of the Castle of Gaasbeek has an interesting design. Only in Autumn (and winter), when leaves have mostly fallen, one can have this view, over the main grassfield in the valley, looking through, all towards the other side (south-east) of the park.

At the top of the other side stands a big triumphal arch (1803).

Some trees in the park are over 300 years old. The (public) park is about 50 hectares or 124 acres. In the park is a baroque chapel from 1625.

The Castle originates from the year 1236, and hosts a national museum. As it is only about 20 km from Brussels, it attracts many international visitors.

March 4, 2009 - After I united with the Norwegian group (the white people on this photo) in the plane in Marocco, we departed to Niamey. From there, we took a few cabs to the busstation (our car & driver wasn't there), where we took this bus to Zinder. After driving about 5,5 hours (7,5 to go), this was our first real stop.

I was quite overwhelmed by all the Nigerian people trying to sell me food.

10/12/2008 Seconda nevicata...

Sopra le nuvole c'é il sereno

ma il nostro amore non appartiene al cielo.

Noi siamo qui tra le cose di tutti i giorni

i giorni e i giorni grigi.
