In Zechariah chapter 3 we find a vision of Joshua the high priest standing before the Lord with Satan there accusing him.
That’s what Satan does – he’s the accuser and loves to bring up our faults and failures. Well, Joshua was standing there dressed in filthy clothes and Satan was sure to point that out. Sound familiar?
That was us before cleansed by the blood of Jesus and clothed in His righteousness! The Lord didn't listen to Satan regarding Joshua, He provided Joshua with rich garments (Zech. 3:4) and took away his sin. So too He’s taken away our dirt and grime and clothed us in Him. Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 2 Cor. 5:17

A word study on "Redeemed" will reveal yet another level of God's love and the price that was paid to reveal that love to us. So get out that Strong's Concordance and look up the verses that talk about redemption!
Redeemed means = To release upon payment of a ransom. As believers in Jesus Christ we have been Redeemed. (Col. 1:14) In whom we have REDEMPTION through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace. Eph. 1:7
The promise of this redemption was spoken of throughout the Old Testament. We see one of those precious passages in Today's Thru the Bible Reading.

Can you find your family tree? Do you know your lineage? This was a serious question back in ancient Israel. In today’s reading we see some families that lost their family records and as a result were excluded from the priesthood and unable to serve before the Lord.
This is an amazing picture of Jesus! How? Well, first of all Ephesians 1:5 tells us that we’ve been adopted as children of God. Our family record (per se) is engraved on our Savior’s hand (Isaiah 49:16). We’ve been sealed and God knows each of us (2 Cor. 1:22; Eph. 1:13; Eph. 4:30; John 10:14, 15).
He is the master Creator and history is the account of HIS STORY – His records are secure and we are called His family. He has made us a chosen generation and a royal priesthood (1 Peter 2:9). If we stand having received God’s free gift of salvation, trusting in Jesus’ blood to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (Eph. 2:8,9; 1 John 1:9), then we can rest assured that we won’t be counted unable to serve before the Lord and worship at His feet.
Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, Jude 1:24

We can be the bearers of the best news EVER! Salvation, the forgiveness of sin is available to all who receive – it’s a free gift! There’s no need to live with that guilty conscience, there is a way to be right with God. Jesus paid for your sin and has offered to represent you as perfect because of Him! This is news worth telling!
In today’s Thru the Bible Reading with 19 Upstream we find four men with news worth telling! These men were sick with leprosy and ready to die (like us before Jesus, we were dead in sin Eph. 2:1). In the midst of a terrible famine, these men stumble upon a “treasure” that could save Israel. As they were enjoying their plunder, they realized: We are not doing right. This day is a day of good news, and we remain silent…Now therefore, come, let us go and tell the king's household. 2 Kings 7:9
Let’s take a lesson from these guys and realize the good news we have and SHARE IT! "Go into all the world and preach the gospel (The Good News) to every creature.” Mark 16:15

Devotion to God invokes the destruction of idols in our life. This was the result of Israel’s repentance, just as it is with ours. We were freed from sin. It brought us death and Jesus gave us life. God keeps every single one of His promises!
God gives promises and hope in the midst of great trials. In Ezekiel chapter 47 we find Jerusalem destroyed by the Babylonians and God’s people taken captive. The people are morning and in despair. There seems to be no hope, but in the midst of this situation, God gives Ezekiel a vision of better days coming. The vision God gave Ezekiel then gives us great hope today! It tells of day when Jesus, the Messiah will return and we will live with Him in peace. He will set all things straight and make all things right. What a day that will be! So whatever this world throws at you today – know that it will all be made right one day soon.

Today we start the book of Lamentations. Jeremiah had been warning the people for 40 years of God’s coming judgment and their need for repentance. During that time, not one person listened to Jeremiah! The 40 years ended and Jeremiah watched as Jerusalem was destroyed and God’s people were taken away in captivity. The book of Lamentations is the record of Jeremiah’s weeping and heartbreak.

Can you see “the writing on the wall?” A figure of speech that refers to the likelihood that something will happen. But, when God writes something and sets its course in motion – it’s not a likelihood – at that point there’s an assured end. We can take God’s Word and know that the writing in His book is not a likelihood, but a certainty.

What could the book of Ezekiel possibly have to do with our life today? Glad you asked! It has everything to do with how we approach our day and the grind of life – here’s how. Today’s we’re reading about the millennial age in chapters 40-43. This comes after the tribulation. God will come back to earth, set up His kingdom here for 1,000 years and all will be made right. Why should that affect our perspective today? Because – God promised to send His son and He did; He promised to save us from our sin and He did; He promised to rise from the grave and He did; He promised to restore Israel to their land and He did; He promised to come again and HE WILL.

Like Daniel in today’s reading, God saved us from a lion’s den. Perhaps you didn’t see the lion with your eyes, but he was there and hungry! The Bible tells us in 1 Peter 5:8, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.” God has saved us from our sin and snatched us out of the devil’s den. Like Daniel, our adversary no longer has power; God has shut his moth like those lions in today’s reading! …For He is the living God, And steadfast forever; His kingdom is the one which shall not be destroyed, And His dominion shall endure to the end. He delivers and rescues, And He works signs and wonders In heaven and on earth, Who has delivered Daniel from the power of the lions.
