Looks great in standard trim and those wheel trims with the Rover emblem must be quite rare.
I make sure I photograph every 800 series I see now.
Happily still with tax and MOT.
After Lotus ended production of the Elan in Britain Kia built a small number of Elan roadsters in Korea from 1996 until 1999. Apart from the engine (a 1.8 litre engine with 151 PS) and the rear lights it was an exact copy of the Lotus Elan which was built from 1989 until 1985. Less than 1,100 Kia Elans have been made. This one is on show in the Van Mossel Museum in Waalwijk.
One I've photographed elsewhere, but I like this photo. Amazingly this car has just gone straight through an MOT with no mentions of rust on 57,000 miles.
A reminder of what a street full of people look like too...
1999 Foden 4000 fairground dodgems lorry.
Tax expired on 1st April 2022.
Was white.
Seen here leaving Cambridge after running the dodgems at a college May Ball.
1999 Rover Mini.
Scrapped (last MoT test expired in September 2016).
It had spun off the road here, hit the fence and lost its exhaust pipe in the process. It looked like a low speed impact as there was very little bodywork damage.
A late summer squall wasn't part of the plan as Virgin Trains' celebrity working 1S87 Saturdays 12.10 Ramsgate-Glasgow with D9000 'Royal Scots Grey' hits on the power away from Oxford.
Still... no heads or annoying waving from a pelted mixed rake!
From the days when one needn't try too hard.... and I actually quite like the shot now.
11th September 1999
Only 39,000 at the last MOT which it failed in December. One of the failures was "Steering column top bearing worn" which is a new one on me and surprising for such a low mileage vehicle.
Supplied by City And County Garage of Worcester which no longer appears to exist.

From usmint.gov:
"Shows the famous Charter Oak tree that hid the charter won from Britain's King Charles II in 1662. This charter established Connecticut's boundaries and self-rule. In 1687, Captain Joseph Wadsworth saved the charter from the hands of the British, hiding it safely in this tree.

Features the familiar image of George Washington.
The Story
Even after Connecticut became a state in 1788, it continued to use the 1662 British Charter as its constitution (the charter hidden safely in the Charter Oak tree). In fact, Connecticut used the charter for more than 300 years, until a new state constitution was adopted in 1965.

(I recently found a bunch of old photos, mainly pre-digital, on an old CD-ROM. It was interesting looking back at the emergence of the "Miss K" character during the 90s. Here are a few of the ones that caught my eye...)

You'll be relieved to hear that this prolonged jaunt down memory lane is almost at an end now...
