A pair of SW10s break and build trains in Union Pacific's North Yard in Salt Lake City, Utah on July 21, 1996. Big changes were on the way with regard to train routing after the Union Pacific and Southern Pacific merged on Sept. 11th of the same year.

The Toyota Classic was produced as part of the Toyota Excellent Conversion Series (TECS), a project that aimed to provide wide-ranging types of cars in answer to increasingly diverse tastes of customers. The exterior and interior designs of the Toyota Classic were modeled after those of the Toyoda Model AA - the first all Japanese-made passenger car that was completed and placed on the market in 1936. The Toyota Classic was produced in 1996, in celebration of the 60th anniversary of Toyota's inauguration and the Toyoda Model AA's debut. The quantity was limited to 100 units. The chassis of the Hilux pick-up truck was used at the base, because its size was similar to that of the Model AA. Toyota Technocrat Co Ltd. , a skilled coach builder that had customized a wide variety of cars, produced the bodywork using Model AA's airflow styling as the motif. The engine was a 4-cylinder OHV unit used on the Hilux, to which a 4-speed automatic transmission with overdrive was added.

Union Pacific painted a pair of SD40-2s to haul around the Olympic Torch in 1996. After that task was complete, UP placed the pair into general service for a few months before repainting them back into traditional Union Pacific colors.
The pair had a westbound grain empty rolling across Iowa on the former Chicago and North Western in June of 1996.

I was amazed to see this, although maybe I shouldn't have been since it's the second one I've seen in Newquay. Registered as an FS Lublina 07 and imported in 2017. 72,000km at the last MOT. I like things like this. Compared to a modern van it has a functional and honest look about it rather than something which is trying to make a fashion statement whilst (according to people I know who own them) being a nightmare of high costs and unreliability. I've no idea how reliable this would be, but I bet it's easy to repair.
ZUK production ran from 1958 to 1998. In latter years the company was owned by Daewoo.
I loved the huge redwoods in CA and Oregon coast and the way they make cars look like dinky toys in the photos...typical foggy view...
My brother and sister-in-law are visiting from CA for a couple of weeks ..my time is very limited these days...may not be online much this weekend..hope everyone has a nice week!

Into the sugar beet season a freight loco is required twice each week to run to Kościan via Plastowo in addition to regular Grodzisk freight duties and other trips such as the Powodowo traffic.
Before-dawn servicing is undertaken to 'Kreigslok' Ty2-406 positioned beside Wolsztyn's coal cranes, motion inspection lights on.
Just a single 2-10-0 loco available this period.

'Hadn't banked on cleaning-up day one...
Ol49-81 gives the 08.00 Grodzisk freight a shove to Adamowo, train engine Ol49-69, before detaching and prepared for taking the late morning passenger to Poznań Główny.
Real Polish steam was to last at Wolsztyn for some years yet in company with the PKP narrow gauge enticing many to visit.
A pair of Ol49 is a scarcity and possibly provided this day facing a large load and from the unavailability of a 'ten-coupled'.
Enthusiasts will recognise and lament the well-trodden trackside path in the picture.

On July 13th 1996, I organized a special photo excursion train on the Nyiregyhaza narrow gauge system. The mixed train ran from Nyiregyhaza to Balsa and back. Here it is seen passing through the main street of Gavavencellö.
