That's me in 1985 as a young mechanic at Mercedes Benz. The photo was taken for a local newspaper. I'm the man in the middle of the picture.

1985. Na, wer erinnert sich noch an das große Jubiläum zur 150-Jahr-Feier, mit all den Dampfzügen, der Ausstellung in Bochum-D, der Kavalkade in Nürnberg? Auch im Herbst jenes Jahres waren noch Dampfzüge zwischen Nürnberg und Bayreuth oder Sulzbach-Rosenberg zu beobachten. Am 29.09.85 sollte die 01 1100 mit einem Sonderzug die Rampe hinter Hersbruck Richtung Etzelwang hochkoffern, also wurde kurz vor Etzelwang rechtzeitig Position bezogen - und auf alles draufgehauen, was vorher so vorbeikam. Eine Doppeltraktion 218 mit Güterzug, ein Eilzug mit einer Vorserien-218, ein popfarbener 614 - und diese Fuhre hier: eine 290 leistet einer 217 Vorspann vor einem Kokszug zur Maxhütte nach Sulzbach-Rosenberg. Alltag anno 1985. Wer braucht da noch einen Dampfzug..? ;-)

I really liked this model of Jazz. Unfortunately like most cars the Jazz has ballooned in size and now is a very bland creation. Being a Honda, I expect they're still good to drive and work well.
I thought this would have been JDM but it's UK original. 58,000 miles at the last MOT with a litany of rust fails in recent years. It looks good from here though.

I first saw this in May 2012 and it's looking just a little rougher now. Untaxed since November 2009.
1985 Citroen 2CV B631KUX during a rally to the Classic Motor Hub in the Cotswolds in Gloucestershire on 31st August 2024.
'Starlight' Sindy was sold with a basic body and side parted crimped hair in blonde or a dark brunette. The brunette had a green shimmering jumpsuit and green kitten heels, while the blonde had a red version.
The fabric used probably never got a proper "wear and tear" test since it doesn't answer well to any type of play.
My friend had this green version and the fabric started to flake almost immediately. This one must have been kept in a box.

I traded a doll like this from another friend back in the day. I put her head on an active body and gave her hair a trim and named her Camilla. So this obviously isn't her, haha!

LEONE MARINO AL SOLE
A very unusual spot in Italy, at least in my experience. It was almost unbelievable what kept popping up on this trip, but this was a particular highlight.

This is the first random slide that I bought in a thrift store in Vienna, Austria. The writing on the slide says: " Bregenz, Seebühne, Zauberflöte - 21.07.1985". It shows the famous Seebühne in Bregenz being build up in 1985 for the performance of Mozart's "Die Zauberflöte". The premiere was three days after this photo was taken.

The Advanced Passenger Train programme was all about creating a world beating tilting train for the future, without having to spend billions on new dedicated track for high speed running. It should have followed in the steps of the HST, and put the UK in the forefront of railway innovation. It was scrapped, and the technology sold to the Italians who produced, the Pendolino! Scrapped by a government who lacked backbone and vision, and a hostile press who excelled in the maxim of not letting un truths get in the way of a good story. Nothing new there then, you may say? During its short life in scheduled service, No. 370003 speeds through Lichfield Trent Valley with a Glasgow Central to London Euston service on 19th April 1985. The Jaguar XJ-S (later called XJS) is a luxury grand tourer manufactured and marketed by British car manufacturer Jaguar Cars from 1975 to 1996, in coupé, fixed-profile and full convertible bodystyles. There were three distinct iterations, with a final production total of 115,413 units over 20 years and seven months.
This 1985 Jaguar XJS, B388 WKR, was seen at Brooklands Classic Car Day on 30th March 2024.

For the 1979 model year, a second generation of the Capri was introduced. As part of several changes over its predecessor, the Capri was officially part of the Mercury model line as Lincoln-Mercury ended captive imports of the Ford Capri in favour of creating a Mercury counterpart of the 1979 Ford Mustang. Sharing the Fox platform with the Mustang, the 1979 Mercury Capri marked the first Mercury "pony car" since the 1970 Mercury Cougar.

While visually similar to the Mustang, the second-generation Capri was offered solely in the three-door hatchback configuration. The Capri was styled with its own front fascia, a vertically-mounted grille, and dark-tinted tail lamps with horizontally-ribbed lenses.
A proud heritage is displayed by loco crews in the form of innovative embellishments and decoration such as at Nysa depot, Upper Silesia. National colours red/white unsurprisingly figure largely whereas cabsides and smoke deflectors in green look striking against black.
While Ty2-1241 rides the east-side roundhouse turnable, another, Ty2-844 is stopped adjacent to the opposite roundhouse.

Part of a large consignment of surplus UdSSR locos 11/62 to PKP as Ty2-1241.
