Note: N734T (1) was Boeing 720-048 c/n 18041/172 operating for Club International/Pioneer International from October 1972 to July 1973 (and later, from September 1975 to July 1978, as N1776Q for AeroAmerica).

N734T is coming in to land on Riem’s runway 07. This airframe was noted here n 26 June 1976 (probably the precise date for this shot) and 8 October 1978.

The above image is a scan from an original Kodachrome™ slide. The default size is 2000 x 1250 pixels, so clicking on the photo will enlarge it for better viewing.

The original image comes from my slide collection, amassed over the past 40+ years. They are a combination of my own photographs and ones acquired over those years.

I created this Photostream in 2017 for the purpose of holding my slide collection as an archive, as otherwise they would just remain in binders and boxes, not being enjoyed by anyone, myself included.

Comments are welcome.

Burlington Northern Railroad E9Am 9925 westbound at Cicero, Illinois on an unknown day in October 1979, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Built as CB&Q E9 9995 in August 1954 ( c/n 19634 ) it became BN 9995 on March 2, 1970. It was sold to the West Suburban Mass Transit District August 18, 1972 and leased back to the BN. During July 1973 it was rebuilt by Morrisdon Knudsen and returned as BN 9925, still leased from the WSMTD under contract with the Regional Transit Authority. It was named, "Jorge Iorgulescu", and continued to operate in commuter service until retired in July 1992. It appears that it later went to the Nashville & Eastern ( along with 9910, 9912, 9917 ) to be used on a proposed commuter service.

This is a Kodachrome slide; it was scanned with an Epson Pro V750, and then finished with minor post processing via Photoshop.

The original comes from my own slide collection which I have photographed and/or otherwise acquired during the past forty years.

They are posted here simply to share a part of airline & airliner history for people who are interested.

This is an image from my collection. Although predominantly slide scans, it includes other forms of media as well. All have been collected over the past 40+ years of shooting Kodachrome and digital images, slide purchases and many years of exchanging. I was fortunate enough to trade with some of the best airliner photographers around the world.

Created in 2017, this is a curated archive that serves to share what otherwise would be kept in binders and boxes, not being enjoyed by anyone, myself included.

Beautiful to see those big drivers roll! "The General" should be rolling instead of boarded up in a basement as she is now. I will never forget seeing her running free with a Jim Crow combine and a single coach.

Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad E9 9995 westbound at Naperville, Illinois on April 28, 1965, Ektachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Built in August 1954 (c/n 19634) on EMD Order 2065A for six E9's (#'s 9990-9995), it became BN 9995 and after rebuilding by Morrison-Knudsen became BN 9925, retired from Chicago commuter service in 1992.

I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.

I feel my fate in what I cannot fear.

I learn by going where I have to go.

We think by feeling. What is there to know?

I hear my being dance from ear to ear.

I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.

Of those so close beside me, which are you?

God bless the Ground! I shall walk softly there,

And learn by going where I have to go.

Light takes the Tree; but who can tell us how?

The lowly worm climbs up a winding stair;

I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.

Great Nature has another thing to do

To you and me; so take the lively air,

And, lovely, learn by going where to go.

This shaking keeps me steady. I should know.

What falls away is always. And is near.

I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.

I learn by going where I have to go.

High Street Level Crossing, built by the Great Northern Railway in 1848 to carry main through lines over the High Street in and out of Lincoln Central Station. A footbridge built after much public pressure in 1874. Gates were operated manually until electrification in 1925, when they were controlled from the signal box, which was extended westwards for this purpose. Traffic lights were installed for the duration of the Corporation Tram service which ran along High Street until 1929. Swing gates remained until 1990, when lifting barriers were installed. At the same time the footbridge was removed. With the new signalling system installed in 2008, the crossing was controlled from the new control box at West Holmes, not from the High Street signal box. Lincoln, Lincolnshire.

Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad E9 9995 eastbound at Naperville, Illinois on April 19, 1965, Ektachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Built in August 1954 (c/n 19634) on EMD Order 2065A for six E9's (#'s 9990-9995), this was the highest numbered E9, and for that matter, the highest numbered locomotive on the CB&Q diesel roster. It was not the last E9 delivered, the following year the CB&Q ordered 10 more E9's (#'s 9985A-B through 9989A-B), the CB&Q's final passenger locomotive acquisition. This one went on to become BN 9995 and after rebuilding by Morrison-Knudsen became BN 9925, retired from Chicago commuter service in 1992. Seen here in charge of one of the daily CB&Q Dinkys (commuter train), it has in tow five of the single level coaches, a pair of Budd bi-level stainless steel coaches, and a power car converted from one of the single level coaches. Within a few years, all the single level coaches would be retired, the power cars would survive a few more years to power solid trains of bi-level Budd coaches until 26 E8's and E9's were rebuilt by M-K with Head End Power.
