I've never understood the science of the stars. It didn't matter how hard I tried, my mind always shut out all the logic and eccentric numbers and I'd give up and simply just accept that they were millions of light years away. I didn't get that they remained in sight hundreds of years after their light had died away. I didn't care. I just sat and drew stars on my physics exam and let them just stay magical.

I have to go bake cakes. You might call this cheating, I call it improvision. This must be like, star overlay number six, or something.

150,000 views?! I feel like you deserve something more than this. I'll work on it.

The Arado Ar 196 was the most extensively used German seaplane in WWII. Serving in every German theater of operation throughout the war, these aircraft held a myriad of roles like reconnaissance, coastal patrol, and couriering. The planes were used by large ships like the Bismarck, Tirpitz, and Admiral Graf Spee as well as by shore patrol units. Although these aircraft worked in close cooperation with the German navy, they were still operated and commanded by the air force.

I tried keeping the color palette here "classic" by making use of common system colors. I like the way the plane "pops" and I want to do this more often. I also simplified the layout of the pontoon struts slightly because I didn't want to make that area look too messy at this scale and it'd be slightly more fragile.

Heart: Saw this in one of the photostreams and wanted to give it a try - I think there is still room for improvement.

Boring picture, sorry :(

I got this top thrifted for $4 :D

On this day on our way from Limoges to Poitiers, we stopped to see the Oridour-sur-Glane memorial site. This is a village were 642 villagers were killed by the SS in 1944 in retribution for some resistance activity. They then set fire to the village. See photo in comments.

It was a very moving visit and the French government has done a great job in marking sure no one forgets the massacre. For more details and further reading, this link is worth a read.

The Arado Ar 196 was a WW2 german shipboard reconnaissance aircraft. The plane is featured in the 1941 Tintin comic "The Shooting Star" ( L'Étoile mystérieuse).

People often think that being skinny is something that certainly makes a person happy. Well, I know nothing of it and I can tell you that I've been skinny my whole life. People used to say how fine long legs I have and how model-like figure I have, like all of it somehow should count me as a lucky human. Believe me - that is not what guarantees self-acceptance. Our bodies are simply meant to carry our souls. That's what I'm learning at this moment of my life, thanks to this wonderful project.

Self-acceptance surely is a state of mind.

Look up, the sky is blue!

I was talking to Daniela yesterday about hitting a wall, feeling like you have no creative bone left in your body...

It's seriously hard work to do a 365 project. Every day I want to show all of you something nice and the last couple of weeks I feel like I can't come up with new or creative ideas.

Taking a holiday in Denmark was nice

(and easy shooting! What a gorgeous nature what ever way you look!) but didn't bring it back.

So I guess I just have some creative soul searching to do :)

Hope you stay around and see some more challenging and creative shots very soon!

I think this is a project that I am growing from and that it's not supposed to be easy ;)

But your support is much appreciated and it's helping me make it till the end!

In the meantime this is my reminder:

Look up, the sky is blue!

Bird on a wire, well a pigeon really!!

Today. This was shot at the Palazzo hotel in Las Vegas, NV. After approaching these umbrellas and beginning to shoot them, I realized that I had seen them photographed before, I just wasn't sure where. After getting back from my trip, it didn't take long to realize that I had seen them on Trey Ratcliff's blog. Trey is the pioneer of HDR photography and I had the chance to meet him for his book signing at the Crimson Lounge. The coolest part about seeing this photo on Trey's blog is that in the blog post, dated August 15th 2009, is that he mentions that he also shot the umbrellas from straigh below as I did today, and that he would post it soon! Well, Trey, I beat you to it!
