The cold and the first snowstorms lurk in Berlin. Our planes can hardly move through the snow and flights are delayed, but the Luft Hansa pilots do not give up and check the weather to be able to fly as soon as possible.
There is always a glimmer of hope after the storm.

A sign at this cemetery says that this date marker is from the last school built in Dawson and is the only remaining relic of the town's many buildings.
In a scene that could have taken place at the main shops of the Chicago, Aurora, & Elgin in the heart of Wheaton, IL in a century before, interurban cars are displayed outside of Barn 4 at the Illinois Railway Museum during their annual Showcase Weekends on Septeber 19, 2020. Except, in 1920 steel car 460 had yet to be built (blt 1945, St. Louis Car Co.), wood car 36 (blt 1902, Stephenson Car Co.) would likely still be wearing Pullman Green, and the entire railroad would still be lettered Aurora, Elgin, & Chicago.

This weekend is a self-care weekend for me. I bought myself flowers Thursday on the way home. Yesterday after work, on my way to a mani-pedi and before a stop at Starbucks, I popped into Green Element, a resale shop. What a great place! And huge! I found this child’s school chair and bought it on the spot for my still lifes. It’s from the 50s-60s. So after laundry this morning and before I head out for a haircut, I did a quick shoot with the new purchase. Here is number one in my back to school series.

It was a calm spring day when Canadian photographer Ken Pretty spotted an interestingly shaped 30ft iceberg off Newfoundland’s east coast.
As he flew his drone overhead, Pretty, who hails from the town of Dildo, realized the hulk of ice bore a distinct resemblance to a characteristic part of the male human anatomy.

“Looking from the land, it wasn’t quite clear,” said Pretty. “But once I got the drone out there, it was unreal how much it looked like – well, you know …”
Pretty’s images of the phallic berg prompted an outpouring of hilarity on Facebook, where users speculated that the iceberg would probably soon drift past Dick’s Cove, Newfoundland, or suggesting it could provide ice for the “stiffest drink”.

I took a trip for a couple of days off which was mainly rain and mist in mid-winter here. I think they stopped making cheese at this place a while back but it was still working in 1965. Originally built in wood in 1915 it was upgraded to bricks in 1920. It sits just across a road from a large river which breaks its floodbanks occasionally. However the farmland is flat and very fertile which the cows do well on. Back in the early days the manager received 4 pounds a week and the assistant 3 pounds but both got free milk! Cheese from this factory won First prize for rindless cheddar in the Royal Dairy Show, London in 1964 after a second prize in 1961,

She was built in 1920 as a German-built herring vessel, steamship Jemo.
SAIL Amsterdam is a maritime event held once every five years in Amsterdam in the Netherlands. Tall ships from all over the world visit the city to moor in its eastern harbour. SAIL Amsterdam 2025 is the tenth edition, and the first one since 2015 as the 2020 event was cancelled. It was one of the main events celebrating Amsterdam's 750th birthday. It was also 50 years since the first SAIL Amsterdam was held.

Taken in Moore Street electricity substation - the venue for the installation "A boy and his atom" a work by Steven Claydon - a still-working brutalist edifice and my favourite Sheffield building. Check out the exhibition here and the remarkable building here.
Een vaste verschijning op de lijn 34 tussen Hasselt en Tongeren is de IC tussen Gent-Sint-Pieters en Tongeren. Deze IC rijdt meestal met M6. Echter wijkt deze samenstelling af van de meest voorkomende stammen: de stammen bestaan uit 9 in plaats van 8 rijtuigen, het wordt altijd gesleept door een 19 en de loc staat steevast aan de oostkant (dus stuurstand kant Gent). Deze afwijkingen zijn voor fotografen eigenlijk best gunstig: een 19 is toch net iets bijzonderder dan een 18 en er zijn veel meer mogelijkheden om een trein te fotograferen die naar Tongeren rijdt in plaats van naar Gent (waardoor je dus altijd loc op kop hebt).
Algemeen kan je best vaak aan de treinsamenstelling van de M6'en zien op welke verbinding die rijdt. 2 gekoppelde stammen M6 met een 27 zitten tussen Antwerpen en Charleroi, terwijl de korte stammetjes met een 19 pendelen tussen Limburg en de kust. En stammen M6 waar enkele rijtuigen van 200 km/h tussen zitten, zitten vaak op Kortrijk - Sint-Niklaas.
Hier komt de 1920 door Hoeselt, terwijl hij zijn laatste kilometers aflegt tot Tongeren.
