EXPLORE #18, Feb 12/09 & Front Page Explore
Rain rain go away lol..Yesterday it rained so I went shopping lol ;) I spotted a lovely bunch of Anemone that I thought would cheer me up! They sure did...it's raining again today. I hope this brings a little ray of sunshine into your day too ;) I just love these flowers ;)
"The Anemone is also called the Windflower, and Lily-of-the-Field. Anemone is pronounced 'a-NEM-o-nee'. The name is derived from the Greek word 'anemos' meaning 'wind'. In Roman times Pliny wrote that the anemone flower was opened by the wind. The flowers of the taller types are carried on long, wiry stems and nod gracefully in a breeze."
"IPA: /əˈneməni/, from Greek Άνεμος 'wind'"
I was thrilled to have this photo make the Front Page of Explore yesterday. I thank you all and am so happy you have enjoyed this photo so much!! ;) Cheers!

Limestone Quarry in Faxe, Zealand.
It is hard to imagine, that 20,000 years ago, this area was covered by massive ice.
63 million years of history, exposed by Denmarks largest man-made hole in the ground: A 110 acre open quarry that has been the site of limestone production for over 900 years.

I'm not sure if I have the location right here, I was actually lost at the time after having arrived at my home stay in the dark then out the door again before the sun rose in my usual unplanned manner.
I think the Ranong area is the only place I know in Thailand that can experience a huge rain storm while the rest of Thailand remains bone dry! But then the light was lovely and so were this family who helped me find my accommodation again without the slightest concern that they might be late for their daughter's school or wherever they were heading to. How I love country folk!
As always please press the 'L' key if you want to avoid the ads when you flick through any stream, the images look much better for it too!
A quick snap and upload tonight. Me and him are going to Norway tomorrow for a week - we had originally booked the holiday to coincide with this ones birthday as she was supposed to be out there (see last year!). But she came home.
But then we thought we would go anyway because we have never been. Her birthday is next week but now we will be away! So early birthday presents with grandparents prior to packing......
I have no idea how internet will be and I am not taking the laptop so I will be phoning it in for a week.
