The European goldfinch is a species of passerines of the family of the finches, partially migratory, small and very variegated.

This fierce looking figurehead is believed to be from the barque Saladin wrecked on the coast of Nova Scotia after she was taken over by pirates in a mutiny. The figurehead featured in the mutiny as the pirates attempted to alter it to conceal the identity of their captured vessel.
Captured this striking figure in 2015 while visiting the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.
Saladin set sail from Valparaiso - a seaport in Chile, on 8 February 1844, carrying a shipment of guano, 70 tons of copper, 13 bars of silver, and about $9000 of gold and silver coins. Saladin never made it to England, where its shipment was expected, instead it was found stranded on 21 May 1844 near Country Harbour, Nova Scotia on the shores of Harbour Island beside the village of Seal Harbour.

Stopped at the University of MN Minneapolis campus stop.
Sinds de nieuwe dienstregeling 2019 rijdt er elke morgen een piekuurtrein komende van Visé, Liège en lijn 2 door tot in Braine le Comte.
Waarom?
Voor de reizigers zal het alvast niet zijn: ik kan me moeilijk voorstellen dat het reguliere aanbod om 8u20 richting Braine le Comte niet volstaat. Blijkbaar is het dus eerder iets van technische aard.
Ik heb me laten vertellen dat er werken zijn aan het rooster van Brussel-Zuid kant Vorst waardoor de bundel minder goed bereikbaar is. Door deze piekuurtrein verder te laten rijden, kan hij daarna als ledige rit langs de andere kant Vorst binnen rijden en dat verhoogt de capaciteit.
Enfin voor de fotograaf is het mooi meegenomen, want I6/I10/I11 rijtuigen zie je omzeggens nooit op lijn 96.
Het sprak dus voor zich dat de ledige rit richting Vorst op de eerstvolgende zonnige dag dat ik het late uurrooster op het werk had op foto zou moeten. Ik heb er even moeten op wachten maar op Valentijnsdag was het dan zo ver ;-)
