Zaterdag 11 maart 2023 had ik wat tijd om erop uit te trekken, vooraleer een activiteit in de vereniging aan te vatten.
Restte enkel nog de vraag waarheen? Normaal gezien zou ik standaard Montzenroute geantwoord hebben, maar tja dit weekend is zowel Aachen West als het baanvak Lier - Hasselt toe, wat direct een kruis maakte over deze planning.
Na even rondvraag gedaan te hebben naar de omleidingsroutes (dank voor de ontvangen antwoorden) bleek eigenlijk mijn eigen huislijn 96 vandaag het drukst te zijn met omgeleide goederentreinen van de as Leuven - Auvelais en Ath - Jurbise.
Alleen had ik niet echt veel zin in nogmaals Hennuyères en bovendien bleek het ook dat het sneller bewolkt zou worden in mijn regio dan in de regio Landen.
Daarom besloot ik maar eens een verkenning van lijn 2 te maken. Niet dat ik nog nooit langs de hogensnelheidslijn van Leuven naar Luik had gestaan, maar dat was de eerste keer falikant afgelopen (de lijn was toe wegens een kabeldiefstal) en de volgende keer was het eigenlijk gewoon voor de Nightjet.
Na wat plekjes gezocht te hebben op Google Maps en een ommetje langs de klassieke lijn in Neerwinden, kwam ik rond 10u30 toe op mijn eerste geselecteerde plekje in Gingelom.
Na even wachten, kwam de IC trein van Oostende naar Eupen dan ook door de bocht, voor de gelegenheid in een vrij homogene samenstelling en in top tail met de 1834 voorop en de 1812 als duwende locomotief.

The high speed line from Leuven towards Liège follows betweem Bierbeek and Remicourt the motorway E40.
Until now I didn't had many pictures of this line in my collection, our first visit was a disaster, after some waiting time we had to notice that the trains were diverted via the old line, my second visit was only done for a picture of the NightJet.
This line is not only used for ICE and Thalys services to and from Gemrany but also for domestic trains.
On weekdays two IC-services run here hourly, in weekend only one, namely the IC-service from Oostende to Eupen.
Here one can see one of those IC trains in the neighboorhoud of Gingelom running at a speed of 200 km/h.
