Abandoned for 20 years this heralded 1815 Federal house in eastern NC, surrounded by woods, is now beginning a long, expensive restoration. Chimneys and front porch torn down years ago - interior ornate chair rails, mantels, plaster medallions and plaster crown moldings are intact.

The shears (Hada plebeja) is a nice fuzzy moth - or in this case, two of them.
After completing this business, the female lay her eggs on their preferred host plants, in this case they like dandelions and hawkweed and a couple of more species.
I found this couple in the Paradiset nature reserve in Huddinge, Sweden.
New York Central Railroad F7 1815 at Zearing, Illinois on March 21, 1965, Ektachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Built in February 1952 ( c/n 15426 ) on EMD Order 3098A, it eventually became PC 1815. The occasion of this photo was a steam fantrip on the CB&Q (note the fans on the tracks on the right), and Zearing offered a wye to turn the train where the CB&Q interchanged with the NYC.
