UN WOMEN LINK about the campaign.
Why having this campaign in our virtual world?
Let's face it! Gender-based abuse also exists virtually, it may be in an unintentional or intentional form. The extent of this violence may not be physical but will always result to short-term or long-term emotional trauma and anxiety to the member victims resulting to a violation of the Community of Standards (not TOS) of SL. Raising awareness in our SL community will give us reminders that one cannot just violate and do things according to their pleasure in-world with the expense of another person/ persons. It is time to at least put light into this issue by supporting us.
Looking forward to joining us! This will be an awareness campaign and participation are free!

Powerful artwork spotted in the Johannesburg CBD – Wings story of hope. The description to the artwork I left as is – it adds to the rawness of the piece.
The Girl Who Stayed Silent
She was raped at the age of seven she felt venerable and scared to mention it to anyone. And she felt as if her joy was fading away slowly. She was all alone and insecure and though (sic) she felt if she cant tell anyone about it they would pity her. She went on trying to forget about her traumatic event but it was the wound to her emotion and mind. Because physical she could heal but mentally it was haunting her.
But till then as time went on she couldn’t live in that traumatic memories no more, it was when after a period of time she met someone who understood her pain and loved her unconditionally and gave her a second chance in life. She healed and now knows how to live with herself again she accepted what happened to her she moved on to retain her dignity.
“Time inflicted, time healed”
Wings story of hope.

Performance groups representing three different tribes including Dinka, Kakwa and Avukay showcased their traditional dances. Amid ululations, cheers and beating of big drums, the traditional dancers entertained the crowd with songs, dance and drama. The tone of the drums prompted people present to join them in dance and sing putting aside their differences for the day.
“We are united for peace. Our songs are sending messages of Peace. Our cultural songs are encouraging peace. This is what we want in South Sudan.” Says David Wila Oliver.
The songs of peace reflected the unity and togetherness as one south Sudanese.
“This is important message because we should not differentiate ourselves with tribes. Our tribe is South Sudanese this shows we are one. If you are from Kakwa, Shilluk, Dinka we are all one. This is a good message.” added 38-year-old David the youth leader representing the Kakwa community.
Traditional dance is a part of the life of the South Sudanese people. They enjoy their dance in different ceremonies and special occasions like weddings, burials or harvest seasons etc. Mariya Fauzia neither sing nor perform creative music but performs traditional dance. Her favorite traditional dance is during the harvest season.
“In our tribe the songs of joy during harvest are performed. If you harvest at the end you will brew Kpete (local brew). The two families will drink and enjoy it is our way of life.” Said 33-years old Fauzia from Avukaya tribe.
“I can sing Avukaya songs and beat the drum while dancing the same time.”
The traditional dances performed in Jondoru market a suburb at the out skirts of Juba City are parts of activities to carry awareness about the 16 Days of Activism against Gender Based Violence and the commemoration of the International Human Rights Day (10 December).
