Larger European cars had been popular until the late nineties, but for some reason their popularity ended abruptly. I've seen Rover 600s, 800s, but no 75, a Peugeot 605 but no 607, Volvo's until the 850 and 900-series are extremely common, yet I can't recall having seen a S80. Saab 9000s are everywhere, the 9-5 is quite rare and I don't think the Lancia Thesis ever made it to Taiwan, unlike the Thema and Kappa which currently seem to be more common here than in the Netherlands. In the same way, the Alfa Romeo 164 found its way to Taiwan. It's a far stretch from calling it a success, but still 1,293 units have been sold in Taiwan.
But here's the thing, you're right now not looking at a 164, this is the Alfa Romeo 168! It's a shame there are no badges on this car. The car was originally launched as 164 in Hong Kong, Taiwan and Malaysia, but was quickly being renamed to 168, because the pronunciation of 1-6-4 in Chinese "一六四" (yī liù sì) sounds to similar to "一路死" (yī lù sǐ), which could be translated as "all the way to death" or "the whole journey to death". In the superstitious Chinese world number four (四) is sometimes avoided because the pronunciation of it (sì), sounds to similar to the pronunciation of 'to die' (死 sǐ), for instance in hospitals or elevators in many apartments you won't find a fourth floor.

I'm sorry for the person I became.
I'm sorry that it took so long for me to change.
I'm ready to be sure I never become that way again
'cause who I am hates who I've been.
Who I am hates who I've been.
I talk to absolutely no one.
Couldn't keep to myself enough.
And the things bottled inside have finally begun
To create so much pressure that I'll soon blow up.

Wikipedia

No.168 approaches Little Island with the 1120 Cork to Cobh on the 14th April 1995. The regular services on the Cobh branch made it a good place to photograph whilst travelling by train.
This picture sums up the charm of Irish railways in the 1990s. Steam heated stock, jointed track, diesel locos. No. 168 was at this stage the last loco to carry the CIE orange and black livery.
I gave a waterdrop photography workshop today at the photography club.
It's amazing to see these really short moments, captured by the camera. Everyone got to take some waterdrop shots. It was a lot of fun doing this with a group.
One of the most anticipated events of Cumbres & Toltec’s 2021 Victorian Iron Horse Roundup was the “Across the Railroad” excursion on Friday, August 27, which traveled the length of the line from Antonito, Colorado, to Chama, New Mexico – 64 miles total. The trip departed from Antonito at 7:15 AM, ahead of the regular C&TS passenger train. Passengers were accommodated in the historic consist behind Denver & Rio Grande 4-6-0 No. 168 and 2-8-0 No. 425, which was followed by an 1880s-vintage freight train pulled by Eureka & Palisade 4-4-0 “Eureka” and Carson & Tahoe Lumber & Fluming 2-6-0 “Glenbrook” (both vintage 1875). Photo stops were made with both trains at Whiplash Curve, Osier, Cascade Creek Trestle, Los Pinos, and Tanglefoot Curve. At Cumbres, No. 168 was cut off from the train and spent the night in the snow shed, while No. 425 took the passenger consist down the hill to Chama. The two 1875 woodburners followed closely behind, not arriving in Chama until well after dark. It was a epic adventure for those lucky enough to be in attendance.
A 168 approaches Tyseley with 1R37, the 14.10 Marylebone to Birmingham Moor Street.

Hoy es otro día infernal...hubo varios ancianos con síntomas de deshidratación. Esta es una florcita anaranjada muy pero muy fresca y primaveral.
Today is another hellish day ... there were several elderly patients with symptoms of dehydration. This is a very, very little flower fresh orange and spring.
