Nyhavn (Newport) is a small harbor in central Copenhagen located just next to Kongens Nytorv.
In the summer, there are a number of outdoor seating areas here, and Copenhagen's sightseeing boats start from here.
The harbor was excavated in 1671-1673 by Swedish prisoners of war from Karl X Gustav's Second Danish War, as an alternative to the already existing harbor.
The "Nyhavnskanalen" was inaugurated by Kristian V of Denmark in the 1670s, but today the harbor is only called Nyhavn.
