A une époque déjà bien lointaine, où les BB16500 étaient encore en service et effectuaient encore des trains de marchandises, une UM composée notamment de la 16535, un des rares exemplaires de la série à avoir revêtit la livrée FRET SNCF, stationne à l'entrée de ce qui fut le dépôt de Forbach, fermé avec l'avènement des locomotives passe-frontières.

TKD WDM-3A #16535 approaching Bijnor with 14044 Delhi - Kotdwar Garhwal Express
Tughlakabad [TKD] WDM-3A 16535 passes Jhir, Rajasthan with Garibrath 12215, the 09:20 Delhi Sarai Rohilla [DEE] to Bandra Terminus [BDTS], a journey of 1450 kms scheduled to take just under 23 hours. This former WDM-2A machine was rebuilt at DLW, Patiala in early 2011.

De SSN bezocht dit evenement en reed pendeltreinen tussen Alkmaar en Heerhugowaard. Loc 01 1075 van de SSN fungeert te Sint Pancras als 'opdrukloc' van trein 90407, een pendeltrein van Alkmaar naar Heerhugowaard, getrokken door loc 65 018 van de SSN.

TKD WDP-1 #15050 rests with the rake of 51911 Delhi - Shamli - Sharanpur Passenger while TKD WDM-3A #16535 gets ready to depart with 54475 Delhi - Haridwar Passenger (via Shamli).
The story of this little sport car two-seater is very interesting. It was made between 1953 and 1956 with an aluminum body, it has only 1.498 cm3 and 110 horsepower, but it can reach 220 km/h due to its light weight and aerodynamics studied.
It is well known the tragic story of the James Dean's death while driving a model like this 550 spider, as well as the nickname that he used to name this marvel of design and technology of that time: "Little Bastard".

La historia de este pequeño coche deportivo de dos plazas es muy interesante. Fabricado entre 1953 y 1956 con carrocería de aluminio, sólo tiene 1.498cm3 y 110 CV de potencia, pero puede alcanzar 220 km/h debido a su poco peso y su estudiada aerodinámica.
Es muy conocida trágica historia de la muerte de James Deen a bordo de un modelo como este 550 spider, asi como el apodo que usaba para referirse a esta maravilla del diseño y la tecnología de la época: "Pequeño Bastardo".

Tughlakabad WDM3A 16535 at Tundla Junction being attached to the 11:50 Rishikesh - Bandikui Jn Passenger, train 54464. Morning of Saturday 9th March 2019. This takes 24 hours and 10 minutes to cover the 584 kms, plus the obligatory 2 or 3 hours delay (on a good day), all in totally Unreserved accommodation.
Actually it's three different trains with a rather complicated operation: there's the Rishikesh portion (worked by WDP3A 15529) that reverses and joins with a part from Bareilly Jn (54462) at Chandausi Junction, the whole lot then runs combined to Tundla Junction where a third portion is detached for Farrukhabad (54466). The Bareilly loco works through on that and upon reversal another loco (16535 in this instance) is attached to the rear to go forward with bits of both main trains to Bandikui. I'd been fascinated by this train for years and only just got around to doing it - although an Unreserved Passenger overnight wasn't particularly appealing. It didn't turn out too bad but I spent most of the night napping and inadequately defending my ever shrinking sleeping space from the sort of people you wouldn't ordinarily choose to spend the night with (there was no real hassle or security issues, I must say).
Unfortunatley for me the first enforced shitbox (EMD/WDx4x) of the trip occurred with the most unwelcome appearance of a BGKT WDG4 at Chandausi, although I was dozing at the time and wasn't able to confirm this until running the 18 coaches down to the front at Tundla, some 6 hours later (but knew I was almost certainly bowled-out as it was suspiciously quiet up front, with no Alco tell-tale transition lurch). Anyway, I was asleep for most of it (but it still pisses me off now!).
