This time last year I was preparing for the trip of a lifetime. Buried back at the end of my archives are my 2004/5 Peru pictures. Taken on film, with an unforseen light leak, scanned badly in a high street shop and saved on disc - I uploaded them with the hope of storage until such time I could 'repair' them. My Broadband access crashed on Friday - so guess what I've been doing this weekend!
If you have the time or the inclination to go on a virtual trek of the Inca Trail all the way to Machu Picchu please feel welcome to browse the rejuvenated set. If not - I'll leave you with this one as a taster.
....and before you ask - it was the rainy season so it absolutely WAS this green. (Oh yes - and it WAS fantastic!!)

There is a Condor, a Puma and a Lizard in this picture, the Incas were certainly creative with their town planning. There's another similar shot coming up where I've identified where they are - can you see them before you get there?
The buildings in this left hand corner mark the beginning of the 'Hanan Sector' where activities of government took place.
This part of the site is designed in the shape of a Puma, (not the same one I've asked you to try and spot!). We are peering along his back towards the head of the animal. A solar observatory ('Intihuatana') on the top of a pyramid correlates with the head, attempting to convey power and lordliness.

Two of Aldershot depot's Stagecoach Gold vehicles - the pair of all ADL Enviro300s, 27755 & 27756 - have gone on holiday to the Paralympics. This has meant there's been other buses substituting on route 1. With two buses off, you'd expect two to substitutes (bearing in mind there are spare Goldlines available).
But today, they were having a party, with four non-Gold buses out!
This one is Volvo Olympian/Alexander 16305 (S305 CCD) - seen having just left the Farnborough Kingsmead stop bound for Aldershot.

The lone tree in the courtyard is right next what is the 'tail' of 'Amaru Tupac' the 'flying lizard' as it clambers out of the Vicanota River at the bottom of the 'abyss' towards the crouching Puma overlooking the site. The pyramid style terraces just beyond it depict the left hind leg. This is known as the 'Urin Sector'.
Amaru Tupac is a mythical creature thought to represent the oldest being on earth. "A mythical son of the water, lord of land and air, generator of life, provider of food, mother of condors and of pumas."*
