According to ancient Greek mythology, Zeus (Ζεύς, Jupiter) was the Father and leader of the Olympian gods. Known by many epithets related to weather phenomena, such as “Αστράπιος” (Αστραπή = lightning), “Βρόντιος” (Βροντή = Thunder), “Νεφεληγερέτης” (Νέφος = cloud, he who brings on the clouds), “Ερίγδουπος” (Γδούπος = deep sudden sound), “Ικμαίος” (Ικμάδα = dew) to name a few, Zeus overlooked human affairs below from his throne in Mt Olympus (the tallest Mountain of Greece) and when he was displeased by their acts, he unleashed powerful lighting against them.
Severe thunderstorms are quite common on summer days, when massive amounts of warm, moist air rise into the atmosphere. The strong electric fields caused by opposite polarity charged cloud bottoms and the ground many times cause a discharge in the form of lightning, releasing tremendous amount of heat, light and energy (measured in tens of thousands of degrees and Amperes).
That was the case on the night of August 15th, 2020, when a massive thunderstorm was active not far away from Mt Olympus area (situated outside the field of view of the photo and to the left). I was fortunate enough to catch a lot of them with my camera shutter open for several seconds, but this particular one totally overexposed the frame. I was also fortunate to be far away from the storm!

Ismail Chachas father Abdulla Hamdare a Konkani Muslim from Pawas , was a cook or Khansama in the household of the Nizams of Hyderabad , from there he shifted to Jinnah House working as a cook with the family of Mr Jinnah..
Ismail Chacha gets nostalgic about those days but he was very small, when the partition took place Mr Jinnah who was fond of Abdulla Hamdares culinary talents asked him to migrate with him and his family to Pakistan, but Abdulla Hamdare would not leave the country of his birth..Mr Jinnah Saab had him employed at Chagla House..
The Hamdares are known as Karais in Bandra and a entire locality existed here, Ismail Chacha was employed with Port Trust under Mr Sood husband of Kamini Kaushal.
Ismail Chacha worked at the docks and knew Haji Mastan a celebrity figure , who allegedly was the kingpin of the underworld those days..
The Army absorbed Ismail Chacha and he got his salary both from the Port Trust and the Army..Chacha was talking to fast and I dont take notes so these are excerpts of conversation with me..
Ismail Chacha lost both his eyes is retired now on pension, and it is his family heritage of a flag that was used for the hoisting.. at Indra Nagar Bandra.
Rahebar Khan was the chief guest I could not post these pictures earlier..
I will write more about Ismail Chacha and the Jinnah household at a later date..I do not want to upset the BJP like Mr Jaswant Singh....

I normally shave at home , but on 15 August Independence Day I was invited by blind Ismail Chacha for the hoisting of our national flag , the chief guest was Rahebar Khan our municipal corporator..
As I came down in a rush , I sat and took a shave from Salim Biloo Barber of Bandra Bazar ..

This Amar Jawan Jyoti is located near Nathula pass (14000 ft) in Indian state of sikkim. This is replica of the the original structure erected at New Delhi. It was constructed after the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971 to commemorate the martyred and unknown soldiers of the Indian Armed Forces who died during the war. The pedestal is bound by four urns, one of which holds the eternal flame.

Vandaag, 15 augustus 2020, was het precies 75 jaar geleden dat de Tweede Wereldoorlog ten einde kwam. Japan maakte zijn capitulatie bekend. In Nederland wordt dat nu beperkt gevierd. Voor Nederland in 1945 betekende dat Nederlands-Indië ook weer bevrijd en Nederlands zou worden. Bevrijd wel, maar niet meer Nederlands. Twee dagen na de Japanse capitulatie riep Soekarno de republiek Indonesië uit. Na een kostbare (koloniale) oorlog waarin Nederland de soevereiniteit probeerde te heroveren, werd die in december 1949 aan Indonesië overgedragen. Aan beide zijden vielen vele slachtoffers.

Today, 15 August 2020, it was exactly 75 years ago that the Second World War ended. Japan announced its capitulation. These days the end of WW2 is commemorated on a limited scale in The Netherlands.
For The Netherlands in 1945 it meant that also the Netherlands Indies were liberated and the idea was that it would become Netherlands Indies again. Liberated it was, but not again Dutch. Two days after the Japanese capitulation the republic Indonesia was proclaimed by Soekarno. After an expensive (colonial) war in which The Netherlands tried to reconquer sovereignty, this was handed over to Indonesia in december 1949. On both sides there were many casualties.

in the Sicilian city of Randazzo, is Celebrated in mid-August day, hits principal feast of the "living vara" that evokes the mystery of the faith of the Assumption of Mary into Heaven with soul and body, for this reference She is call Mary Assumption; the feast may be originated around the sixteenth century; the "vara" (Sicilian name Refers to "float"), it's a "votive machine" about 20 meters high, made of a structure in iron and wood, decorated with gilding, mirrors, colored coatings, Whose allegorical meaning Seems To have inspirations from the figures reproduced in a painting by John Caniglia of 1548 (you can admire it inside the Crucifix chapel of the Basilica of St. Mary in Randazzo), machine consisting about several plans and rotating, with hand-operated mechanisms, and making reference to the rotation of the heavens of the medieval conception. The first low part of the "machine-float" is the Tomb of Mary, full of flowers, but as She got to the Sky also with Her Body, it's an empty tomb, a bit higher up we find St. Thomas in prayer, still more on we find St. Michael the Archangel with a sword, surrounded by singing Angels; on the highest level it finally takes place the Virgin Mary. nella città siciliana di Randazzo, si celebra nel giorno di Ferragosto 15 agosto, la sua principale festa della "vara vivente" che rievoca il mistero di fede dell'Assunzione di Maria in Cielo sia in anima che in corpo, per questo riferimento viene chiamata Maria Assunta, festa che sembra abbia avuto origine attorno al XVI secolo; la "vara" (nome siciliano riferito al fercolo), è una “macchina votiva” alta circa 20 metri, composta da una struttura in ferro e legno, abbellita da dorature, specchi, rivestimenti colorati, il cui significato allegorico sembra ricalcare i motivi ascensionali riprodotti in un quadro di Giovanni Caniglia del 1548 (dipinto che si può ammirare nella cappella del Crocifisso della basilica di Santa Maria, in Randazzo), macchina costituita da diversi piani sovrapposti ruotanti, con meccanismi azionati a mano, che fanno riferimento alla rotazione dei cieli di concezione medioevale. Alla base della “macchina-vara” c’è il sepolcro di Maria, pieno di fiori ma, poiché Ella è salita in cielo anche col suo corpo, tale sepolcro è vuoto, un po’ più in alto troviamo S.Tommaso in preghiera, ancora più su troviamo S.Michele Arcangelo con in pugno la sua spada, attorniato da Angeli, sul livello più alto infine prende posto la Vergine Maria. Le varie figure, presenti sulla vara sono bimbi di varie età, dai più piccoli ai più grandicelli, che intonano canti rivolti alla Madonna, ognuno col proprio ruolo di figurante, ognuno cinto da una struttura in ferro che lo assicura alla macchina votiva: fino agli anni ’60 i vari personaggi erano tutti di sesso maschile, inclusa Maria Assunta, il digiuno dei bimbi era rigorosamente osservato (anche adesso, più per motivi pratici di permanenza sulla vara, che per motivi devozionali); in passato la vara alla fine della processione veniva presa d’assalto dai fedeli, che letteralmente la spogliavano, portando con se un prezioso ricordo della manifestazione, considerandola al pari di una reliquia; alla fine del 18° secolo la tradizionale festa ebbe un declino, soppressa nel 1795, poi ripristinata nella seconda metà del 1800, nuovamente soppressa prima nel 1911 per l’imperversare del colera, successivamente per le vicende legate alla prima ed alla seconda Guerra Mondiale, la festa riprese vita solamente nel 1952, dapprima una volta ogni 5 anni, poi ogni tre anni, infine annualmente dal 1973. Durante il tragitto i bimbi ricevono dagli abitanti affacciati alle finestre ed ai balconi, caramelle, biscotti, dolciumi di vario genere, che ripongono a mò di bottino dentro delle sacche di tela, delle quali ognuno è fornito, questo da un lato rende ancora più gaia e pittoresca la manifestazione, dall’altro lato i bimbi “vengono distratti” dal trovarsi “appesi” a svariati metri dal suolo (simpaticamente chi si trova sotto, può venire “bombardato” da una pioggia di caramelle e cioccolatini).
P.S. questo report, che ho Realizzato il 15 Agosto 2016 nel paese di Randazzo, al quale ho dato il nome del film "per amore, solo per amore", io lo dedico all'infermiere professionale e mio amico Guido, il cui Amore Universale per le persone e per gli animali, osteggiato da chi è incapace di capirne la sua grandezza, ha fatto si che egli decidesse ieri di uscire dalle scene della vita.
