Up and out early with Bonny as usual this morning.
We had a quick breakfast as we were expecting the electrician to turn up any time after 8am. He duly turned up at 1pm.
In the meantime I mowed the lawns and did some more shrub trimming.
After a quick explanation of the problem he started his investigations. He concluded that it wasn't the RCB causing the problem. In fact he couldn't find or fix the problem. The suspicion now lies with rodent damage to that particular section of the ring main. He has now booked us an 'expert' electrician who should be able to trace where the break is.
We took loads of photos when the barn was being converted and Mrs P and I have reviewed them. Although not definitive, we now have a clear idea where the ring main cables have been placed. Hopefully, this will help the electrician narrow down the search. Our suspicions now rest with the kitchen as we have caught mice under the cupboards and the cables run through this area.
We have since discovered that we have power through this RCB to another part of the barn! This proves that the RCB is working. A small piece of good news!
