n 1996, David O'Connor and Loretta Salazar designed and built entirely by hand an ever evolving re-creation of a 10th - 11th century castle keep called Castle Anam Cara. The Castle's ancient wooden beams, wooden floors, stone and wrought iron all lighted with the glow of beeswax candles magically transport the visitor through a time portal. David and Loretta were kind enough to give me a tour of their amazing creation a few weeks ago. I highly recommend you check it out. It is a great place to learn about the time period and experience some of it yourself. They also host weddings.
