We had a bbq again over the weekend, taking advantage of this lovely weather we've been having. Once the meat was cooked and consumed I grabbed dessert. A few lengths of pallet wood which I sat on the embers to burn away. I probably tended to these more carefully than the burgers I had just cooked, making sure the wood didn't burn too much and turning them to obtain an even burn.
I've got 3 propped up against the wall and this one got the top spot. Plenty of texture and fissures travelling in all directions.
This was probably the most subdued of tonight's shots but I think it works the best and looks most believable.
I lit the wood with a single strand of fiber optic brush from lp brushes, paying attention to every crack I could run the tiny point of light down, an orange filter and a blue coast torch for the oblique fill light.

Happy Anniversary to my Nan and Grandad. Work early this morning, although the sun had started thinking by the time I woke up today which made a change.
After Dan finished work today we took a walk to The Hoe to watch the sunset. I've missed the past few nights due to working late, so it was nice to see it in full glory for a change.

but i went on the golf course for the first time in almost a month, i think
i more than missed being out there
it was cold though
hence the awkward pose

I know this is ancient and still as mistakes, but oh well. I don't care. These past couple photos I've taken aren't that great, I just havent been getting home until late and it gets dark so early.. I'll try tomorrow.

Having a bit of spring time fun this afternoon.
A neighbor's tree was blowing these flowers all over the place so we went and played with the piles and piles of pink petals. I just love her expression here...pure joy and excitement. If only us adults could get that much joy out of something so simple.
