Last in the brief macro set; this one goes back seven years. In one of my favourite ditches, tripod and macro lens, hiding in the lush grasses waiting for something interesting to arrive within range. Nothing but mayflies that day. There are approximately 630 species in North America, so don't expect me to narrow it down further.
I followed up with slightly high key processing. Compared to some of the shots processed years ago - none of which made it into my Flickr pages - this one looks almost garish. That's interesting, because I haven't changed my basic processing settings in terms of vibrance, saturation, etc. I can only conclude that the latest version of Photoshop is calibrated toward super-saturation, to keep up with the latest trend in visual imagery (trendiness drives me crazy).
Last thought. There's something distinctly alien about mayflies; think Sigourney Weaver and her deadly stowaway in the first "Alien" film. And I have to add: In Saskatchewan, no one can hear you scream.
Back to the birds, starting tomorrow.

Als gebürtiger Düsseldorfer hat es mich schon sehr früh in die Ferne gezogen. Frankfurt, München, Wien, Graz und seit 1999 wohnhaft in Jennersdorf, im wunderschönen Südburgenland.
Im ausgeübten Beruf als Werbegestalter und Grafiker (1966-1992) aber auch in der Selbständigkeit (bis 2012) ist die bildende Kunst immer allgegenwärtig gewesen.
Meine Leidenschaft sind Experimente mit verschiedenen Hilfsmitteln und Materialien wie zum Beispiel:
Kurzfilme mit und ohne Kamera - Kodak-Sofortbilder ganz ohne Kamera - Negativstreifen und Dias anders gesehen - PC-Fehler zur kreativen Weiterverarbeitung verwenden - Digitalfotografie und ihre Möglichkeiten mit einem Apple-Computer kombinieren und verfeinern - und bis heute noch vieles mehr entdecken...
We go back in time to better times, June, 2016.
Back in this era, FXE did an order for 50 brand new ES44AC's, but due to a massive backlog on orders for other RR's, GE was not able to deliver the units to FXE in time, so, in compensation, they sent the 25 ES44's in the CREX 1500's series (1501-1525). These units were here for almost 2 years working everywhere on the FXE system moving all kinds of trains, sadly none made it to FSRR.
Here, we see the brand new 1507 (now CN 3973) parked in the FTVM engine shops waiting for GE personal as it was not generating a correct amount of horsepower on it's last load test.
Such amazing looking units, I still kick myself for not being able to shoot em as much as I wanted (specially leading) thanks to school :/
