The Evante was produced by the tuning firm of Vegatune, when they were based in Spalding, Lincolshire. They were restoring Lotus Elans and introduced some of there own product development, including use of a chassis with double wishbone rear suspension and updated running gear. Evante was originally intended to be produced in kit and fully built forms but all cars were supplied fully built, at the rate of about one per week. powered originally by Vegatunes own VTA engine initially with 1600cc and later of 1700cc. They were marketed as the standard 140TC or the tuned 160TC models. Gearbox and final drive came from Ford and Twin 40 Dellorto's were installed

The fibreglass body and carbon-fibre was mounted onto a space frame chassis with independent suspension all round. Disc brakes were fitted front and rear, finished with leather seats, walnut dash and electric windows

Production stopped in 1991 when the original company failed, but the design was bought by Fleur de Lys who specialised in making retro styled vans. They redeveloped the car to take a Ford Zetec 1.8 Litre engine, but only nine more cars were made.
