)Die Stufenpyramide hat fünf quadratische Terrassen, dann zwei achteckige Zwischenstufen und schließlich den klassischen zylindrischen Stupa-Aufbau mit Glocke, Turban, doppeltem Lotus, Bananenknospe und Hti. An den vier Seiten führen bis zur fünften Terrasse Treppen hinauf. Früher dienten sie den Gläubigen, damit sie die inzwischen verschwundenen Terrakotta-Platten mit Szenen aus den Jatakas auf den einzelnen Terrassen erreichen konnten; heutzutage steigen Touristen hinauf, um den Sonnenuntergang zu bewundern.

 

The step pyramid has five square terraces, then two octagonal intermediate steps and finally the classic cylindrical stupa structure with bell, turban, double lotus, banana bud and hti. Stairs lead up to the fifth terrace on the four sides. They used to serve the faithful so that they could reach the terracotta slabs with scenes from the Jatakas on the individual terraces, which have since disappeared; nowadays tourists go up to admire the sunset.

This is my first post of a picture taken with my new Nikon D850. Fortunately, we got some sunny hours during the last days of the year.

 

Here I combined several images to a panorama with a resolution of 13600 x 7650 pixels (about 100 Megapixels), which cannot be achieved in a single shot - not even with a D850. You can enjoy all the details by downloading the original image.

 

The picture shows the Grimming, with 2,351 m one of the most impressive mountains in the Austrian province of Styria.

The other day, the fog rolled in of Lake Ontario and covered Grimsby, Ontario in a soft light. About 200 metres from our house Maple Avenue crosses a major Highway (The Queen Elizabeth Way, or, simply, the QEW or QE) and between the highway and the associated service road, is a sumac glade. The glade is quite unremarkable most of the year, but now, as the Fall colours are wrapping up for the year, the scene is very appealing. Although the leaves of the sumac are now gone, the seed heads remain and the entire area was backed by the later lasting Fall colours. The entire area had a muted colour look and the panorama format was a natural for this image. JW

Tech Details:

 

Taken using a tripod-mounted Nikon D800 fitted with an AF-S Nikkor 24-120mm VR 1:4.0 lense set to 120mm, ISO100, Daylight WB, Matrix metering, Aperture Priority Mode, f/8.0, 1/60 sec with an EV-0.33 exposure for three overlapping images intended for use in a panorama. The three overlapping images were then assembled as a panorama using free, Open Source Hugin to create a base pano of 18500 px wide and an aspect ration of 4:1. PP in free Open Source RAWTherapee from Hugin panorama TIFF output file : crop some of the top of the frame to get rid of some stitching gaps, use the Graduated Neutral Density/GND tool rotated to cover the bottom left corner of the frame and then slightly darken that area to better match its tonality with the rest of the frame, slightly boost contrast and Chromaticity in L-A B mode and then very slightly boost Vibrance, sharpen, save. PP in free Open Source GIMP: crop image to a 3:1 aspect ratio by cutting off the left side of the image, use the tone curve tool to pull the bottom of the curve to meet the bottom of the data and then boost the mid-tone brightness slightly, use a second copy of the image on a new upper layer and then add a black/transparent layer mask on it, on the mask use white paint to paint in the sumac area and then boost the red channel of that image layer, create new working layer from visible result, boost overall saturation slightly, use a non-destructive dodge/burn layer to darken the upper left corner area and then slightly brighten the centre area background trees, sharpen, save, scale image to 13600 px wide, sharpen, save, add fine black-and-white frame, add bar and text on bottom, save, scale image to 6300 px wide for posting online.

Anfang Februar 2019 trat die 1144.283 nach einer Teilausbesserung aus dem TS Werk Linz aus. Wie schon bei der 1144.40, 092 und 117 fanden sich dort engagierte Mitarbeiter welche die Lok nahezu in den ursprünglichen Auslieferungszustand versetzten. Besonders auffallend ist dabei natürlich das ÖBB-Signet (ÖBB-Pflatsch) und die große Betriebsnummer in rot im Bereich der Stirnfront. Ende Februar gelangte besagte Maschine in den IC-Umlauf im Ennstal und konnte so mit dem InterCity 513 – „Schöckl“ – auf der Fahrt von Salzburg Hbf nach Graz Hbf nahe Niederndritz-St.Martin fotografiert werden.

Part 14

In the morning I went to the spot I had picked out for the sunrise over the flooded meadow. I waited patiently for the first light to appear on the very tips of the high mountains and slowly crawl down the steep slopes, into the forest's jagged canopy, then slowly march across the meadow chasing away the long shadows of the trees that stretched over the flooded landscape.

For most of today not a cloud formed overhead as we made our was around the waterlogged meadow. At the far end the small trail began to climb up into the trees, but soon left them behind to make its way over large blocks of talus where it disappeared. The stream that flowed throw the meadow first tumbled down under the rocks, mostly heard but not seen. Up and up we climbed over the seemingly endless boulder field. When we eventually made it to the top the trail appeared again, and we followed it the rest of the way to the lakeside campsite I had stayed at last summer. We took a food break here, then left our packs to try and explore around this cluster of four lakes. These were the Treasure Lakes, nestled in the shadow of the four pyramid peaks, Mt. Abbot (13600), Dade (13300), Bear Creek Spire (13500) and the fourth unnamed one that should be called Treasure Peak (12500). We found a great spot, held in the boughs of small pines, situated on a ridge between the 2nd and 3rd lake. The full length of the 2nd lake's shoreline closest to our camp was covered in a cracked mound of iced over snow, and a large wind blown iceberg roamed it's frigid waters.

Debbie spent the afternoon painting botanicals with watercolors, while I explored looking for a spot to photograph sunrise and set. In my explorations I found a gooseberry bush and snacked on its berries, sharing them with her. For sunset we watched the slow crawl of the late day's shadows chase the last of the light up the ridge to the east of the lake as the only clouds to form shape-shifted over it.

Built in 1983, this little white tank car has been in Sulphuric Acid service its whole career. The MDCX reporting mark references its owner, Mexicana De Cobre, the largest copper producer in Mexico. Its parent company is Grupo Mexico, which also owns ASARCO (American Smelting & Refining Company), the Copper Basin Railroad, and Ferromex.

Tiel, 26 april 2014 "Koningsdag".

Een punt wat ik eerder voor ogen had en alleen te doen is bij bewolkt weer, viaduct Nieuwe Tielseweg voor treinen uit de richting Geldermalsen.

Op "Koningsdag" zijn de normale SLT`s in de 13600/16000/6000 series vervangen door plan V`s, heerlijke nostalgie dus!

Vanwege (of dankzij) het ontbreken van de zon koos ik dus voor dit punt.

Plan V`s 476+466+474 als trein 6051 maakt de laatste sprint tussen Tiel Passewaaij en Tiel.

 

De witte boerderij links staat al geruime tijd te koop, voor bijna 290.000 Euro kan je hier eigenaar van worden, met gratis uitzicht op `t spoor!

It's rare, to be honest, that I find a "portrait session" stimulating.. but when I came across this capture something in me stirred. I Love that you can see who she is in this photo - even without looking at the camera.

Zoals ieder jaar wordt er SLT materieel vrijgespeeld voor belangrijkere relaties en daarom zaten dit jaar in de 13600/16000/6000 omloop een mengeling van plan V`s, SLT`s, SGM`s en... een DDAR`tje!

 

DDAR 7335 met duwende 1748 heeft net Tiel verlaten en naderd halte Passewaaij als trein 6048 naar Utrecht.

De 7335 is een klassiek drietje dus met Bvk, ABv en Bv.
