I'm heading out with a couple of friends in a few minutes to see what's happening in Grasslands today... but first... from a few winters back, a rare winter visitor. Gyrfalcon, white-morph adult - one of only two I've seen. The world's largest falcon, if I'm not mistaken, northern resident, occasionally makes it down to our parts in winter.

38 1301 is just leaving a long forest section on 16.7.2017 with the Ammerseedampfbahn and is about to pass through the tranquil village of Greifenberg.

Two old, abandoned vehicles beneath a winter sky. Rusting farm machinery in the background. A typical rural Saskatchewan scene! Near Val Marie, just down the road a bit, go past the big pond then turn left before all the fences...

ILSX 1301 is ready for shipment and sitting in the CPKC Yard in Thief River Falls, Minnesota with the paperwork in the window. This is a second life for this unit that was originally Soo Line 4438, one of the many reliable GP38-2s. I have seen it here in Thief River Falls many times. When I took this photo, I had no idea where it was headed, but it now calls the Progressive Rail home in Lakeville/Rosemount, Minnesota.

Today's story and sketch by me #1301, is not so much about Magi Dawang you see in her Bikini Top and Cargo Shorts. Which is probably an interesting story about her and her Summer Attire, but that will have to be a story for another time. Because what has gotten the entire crew of "MCPPOTG" Man Cave Posse Protetectors Of The Galaxy" Deputies attention, is the scooter she just landed, here on Volcanic Tropical Planet we call Budahunga. It is a low Gravity Orbiter, From the Planet Laustweiener. A craft never intended for intergalactic or multidimensional travel. Just how she managed that journey without any visible safety equipment, not even a seat belt. When we find out just how long she was traveling through space, will surely be an interesting story for another time, until then Tata the Rod Blog.

The first one.
It must be one of the most crappy trainpaths one can come up with, that for mixed goods 52700 from Antwerpen to Châtelet. Going via the -single track now- line 26A, having to cross lines 50 and 60 at the north of Brussels and squeezing in between other traffic on line 96 south of Brussels, scheduled timings are seldomly respected. It was no different on 03/12/2019 when an extra stop was imposed to 52700 at Schaarbeek. To the right are the remainders of the Schaarbeek Groep B and C entrance / exit where some months before, Lineas 1312 derailed at 17km/h. Cause of the derailment: a lack of maintenance...

Als gebürtiger Düsseldorfer hat es mich schon sehr früh in die Ferne gezogen. Frankfurt, München, Wien, Graz und seit 1999 wohnhaft in Jennersdorf, im wunderschönen Südburgenland.
Im ausgeübten Beruf als Werbegestalter und Grafiker (1966-1992) aber auch in der Selbständigkeit (bis 2012) ist die bildende Kunst immer allgegenwärtig gewesen.
Meine Leidenschaft sind Experimente mit verschiedenen Hilfsmitteln und Materialien wie zum Beispiel:
Kurzfilme mit und ohne Kamera - Kodak-Sofortbilder ganz ohne Kamera - Negativstreifen und Dias anders gesehen - PC-Fehler zur kreativen Weiterverarbeitung verwenden - Digitalfotografie und ihre Möglichkeiten mit einem Apple-Computer kombinieren und verfeinern - und bis heute noch vieles mehr entdecken...
De 1301 verlaat het station Dieren als trein 87720E richting Zutphen, nadat even daarvoor het gemeentewapen van Rheden (met daaronder de naam Dieren) is onthuld. Woensdag 6 december 1989. Locomotief 1301 is uiteindelijk in 2004 gesloopt. Aanvankelijk was het de bedoeling om de wapens bij buitendienststelling over te zetten op locomotieven van de serie 1700. Daar is het op één na (1311 - Best - 1759) nooit meer van gekomen.

In fairness this could be a 1301, I'm not sure how to tell them apart from the rear. I was certainly surprised to see this anyway. It appeared to be in use too as it wasn't here when I passed a couple of days later.
A bit of the trademark rust that saw most of these off the roads in view from this angle.
