I saw Gwen sitting on a park bench, her toy poodle at her feet. Although she agreed to be photographed, she was not totally comfortable. After several shots, a car horn sounded and she left to get her ride. I think that she was a bit relieved to depart.
There was a missed opportunity. The dog was the apricot color, and the tonal value was close to that of Gwen's hair. I had hoped that she would hold the dog next to her face - a B&W shot would have been interesting. Next time...

This wasn't exactly what I had in mind, or my first choice for my 365. Don't get me wrong, I'm pretty pleased with how it came out- expect to see that light used a lot, as well as hands, for whatever reason I'm big on hands this go around- but it wasn't quite my aim.
The original few for this set I was pretty stoked about then realized that they reveal a lot and I'm at this point too much in my shell to post them. So here is the G rated version.
But even though it wasn't my goal shot, I like it, so no complaints really.

Over the years I have done a lot of self portraits, in paint, ink, with film and pixels. This year I am contemplating doing a 365. A self portrait every day. But I have reservations. Here are thirteen reasons that may stop me from doing a 365.
1. When I am on call, I may not be able to get a shot. OK, I might have to take a point and shoot shot in the bathroom. I may not be able to post it in a timely fashion.
2. I don't have a lot of different looking clothes. Chances are, my photos will be rejected because I frequently wear stuff that looks the same to. But I like black, green and brown. I like hoodies......
3. Sometimes I'm just not that creative.
4. I don't know which 365 group to join.
5. Chances are I'll rebel against all the restrictions and get tossed out of the group on my ear.
6. Hurricane season is coming. What if I have to evacuate?
7. I fear nobody will be interested.
8. Once I'm committed, I'll feel like a prisoner. I'll end up hating the project and photography all together.
9. If I quit, I'll feel like a failure.
10. My face isn't all that expressive, funny, or handsome.
11. I've used most of my good self portrait ideas already.
12. I'd really rather photograph other people.
13. Who wants to see daily pictures of a fat old bald man in a hoodie anyway?

The Alps Root Beer Drive In 1949 - Lee Erickson and I worked at Lundgren's Camera Shop and had driven out on a nice day for lunch. I don't remember who owned The Alps, but that is their Jeep station wagon. Remember the DX (I think) gas station across the road? It was from behind that gas station that the next photo was taken.
