Crocodile (German Krokodil) electric locomotives are so called because they have long "noses" at each end, reminiscent of the snout of a crocodile (see also Steeplecab). These contain the motors and drive axles, and are connected by an articulated center section. The center section usually contains the crew compartments, pantographs and transformer.
The first evidence of the nickname crocodile locomotive refers to the green Märklin model railway locomotives in gauge 0, item CCS 66/12920, as well as in gauge 1, item CCS 66/12921, which snake through the curves like a reptile when running through switch roads and counter curves, and are first referred to as such in the Märklin catalogue of 1933/1934. They are a reproduction of the Ce 6/8II and Ce 6/8III freight locomotives of the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB), which were put into service starting in 1919.

Storm Clouds 2..
On a late October morning Karen and I made our way to the park to get some fabulous fall shots, then jumped in the car and went for a scenic drive through beautiful Calderon..
While Karen was driving through south Caledon Hills just north of the Grange we spotted this storm front to our left. I rolled down my passenger window and shot several images along the side of the highway.
Thank you for visiting for marking my photo as a favourite and for the kind comments,

A rose is a woody perennial flowering plant of the genus Rosa, in the family Rosaceae. There are over three hundred species and thousands of cultivars. They form a group of plants that can be erect shrubs, climbing, or trailing, with stems that are often armed with sharp prickles. Flowers vary in size and shape and are usually large and showy, in colours ranging from white through yellows and reds. Most species are native to Asia, with smaller numbers native to Europe, North America, and northwestern Africa. Species, cultivars and hybrids are all widely grown for their beauty and often are fragrant. Roses have acquired cultural significance in many societies. Rose plants range in size from compact, miniature roses, to climbers that can reach seven meters in height. Different species hybridize easily, and this has been used in the development of the wide range of garden roses. R_12920

This Citroën SM, with a California plate, made a pretty remarkable sight at Hayward Executive Airport, CA. The vehicle would be over 40 years old but appears to be in immaculate condition. According to my research, 12920 were made between 1970 and 1975 with 2400 reaching the North American market in 1972 and 1973.

Another shot from one of my most favorite animals in Blijdorp Zoo, the Amur Leopard. They are so incredibly beautiful and it's an awful thought that just a few are still living in the wild. They are one of the most threatened species at this moment and I'm afraid soon they only will be seen in zoos...
