The Moon Island on the lake Titicaca in Bolivia. The Titicaca lake is the highest navigable fresh water lake in the world (3812m, 12506 feet). It is located in parts on the peruvian and on the bolivian state. Moon island and Sun island belong to the "sacred islands" of the lake, so the ancient legends tell us. The origin of the name Titicaca could be the quetchua word for "leaden rock" The bright colours which are striking around the lake maybe caused by the high ultraviolet radiation due to the altitude of this lake by at once no haze.
This is one of my favourite archive photos from a south american travel 2006. It was made with my first digital camera, a Sony R1 with a fixed mounted Zeiss Sonnar Zoom. Digital technology has pretty grown up at this time, this so called bridge camera exceeded 10 MP what really was a lot. Due to its huge pixel pitch of about 5 micrometers, image quality was pretty good. RAW processing was not as usual as today, so it is a JPEG from the camera with just some minor postprocessing changes (of course, every JPEG is a processed picture by the cameras engineer)

I was just leaving my friend's rural property when I saw this White-faced Heron hunting along the water race that runs about 30m from his house. I didn't have anything bigger than my 70-200, and by the time I got that on the camera the heron had grabbed the skink. Using my car as a mobile hide I edged closer to the bird as it strutted further away from me, but I managed a few shots before it swallowed the lizard and flew another 30m away.

The last of the eight new Irizar i6 Integral coaches to hit the road for West Coast Motors on the newly relaunched Scottish Citylink AIR service is 12506 - YS25HGF which was damaged shortly after delivery.
West Coast Motors are in the process of placing eight brand new Irizar i6 coaches into service on Scottish Citylink's AIR service between Buchanan Bus Station and Edinburgh Airport.
Parked in the depot is 12506 - YS25HGF.

Deansgate Junction signal box was located alongside the Down Main line by Deansgate Lane level crossing and is a British Railways London Midland Region type 15 design which opened on 3rd March 1957 fitted with a 20 lever London Midland Region Standard frame, replacing an 1882-built Saxby & Farmer type 9 design signal box built for the Manchester South Junction and Altrincham Railway located on the opposite side of the line. The level crossing gates were replaced by manned controlled barriers on 30th September 1979, and the signal box was closed on 7th July 1991 having been extended at the level crossing end earlier in the year to accommodate a Westinghouse Signals Limited M5 entrance-exit signalling panel to replace the lever frame. The signal box reopened on 22nd July 1991 controlling the area previously signalled by Skelton Junction, Navigation Road, Altrincham and Hale signal boxes. A replacement Tew Engineering Limited SM48 entrance-exit signalling panel was manufactured in 2008 but never installed
The diagram was dated 10-6-70 and has a red coloured track circuit on the approach to the Up Main and Down Branch home signals. A red coloured track circuit indicated the track circuit controlled the block instrument needle indication, a practice that has now ceased

It gets dark early in North Eastern parts of India. It was already past 4:00 o'clock in the evening & since I was alone at this small, deserted station, I decided to wind up my railfanning session at Chatter Hat & return back to New Jalpaiguri Jn. which is 20-25 Kms away by road. As I was getting off the railway tracks, I heard honking of approaching train & again went back to the station premises only to see more than 9 hours late running, 24 coacher 12506 Anand Vihar T.-Guwahati "North East Express" powered by #40029 WDP4B of SGUJ (SILIGURI).
