"Twin Lakes" may have the dubious honor of being the most overused lake name, or is at least a veritable contender for that honor.
These "Twin Lakes" near Lundy Pass in the Eastern Sierra were looking particularly gorgeous and turquoise last summer. Excelsior Mtn and Peak 12160 (I think?) tower in the background.
I was contemplating plans to head that direction again soon, but am reconsidering due to general inertia and the currently-raging Tamarack Fire south of Tahoe.

LDN 1251 is a molecular cloud in the constellation Cepheus, located about 1,000 light-years away.
The nebula is part of the Cepheus Flare region and is also referred to as the "Rotten Fish Nebula"
In some reddish areas of the nebula, active star formation is taking place.
Despite the dark nature of the nebula, several background galaxies are visible in its vicinity, including UGC 12160 and LEDA.
In the lower left, there is a red carbon star resembling a red giant.

"The Washington population of the Black Oystercatcher is estimated to be roughly 400 birds. This number is probably not significantly different from the historical population, as these birds require fairly specialized habitat, which is not evenly distributed. Oystercatchers are highly vulnerable to human disturbance, oil spills, and pollution of the intertidal zone. Numbers of Black Oystercatchers on the outer coast may be higher than in the past, in part due to decreased human disturbance resulting from lighthouse automation. Numbers in inland areas, however, have declined in response to increased human activity. The Northern Pacific Coast Regional Shorebird Management Plan has identified the Black Oystercatcher as a regional species of high concern."
"The Black Oystercatcher is restricted in its range, never straying far from shores, in particular favoring rocky shorelines. It has been suggested that this bird is seen mostly on coastal stretches which have some quieter embayments, such as jetty protected areas. It forages in the intertidal zone, feeding on marine invertebrates, particularly molluscs such as mussels, limpets and chitons. It will also take crabs, isopods and barnacles. It hunts through the intertidal area, searching for food visually, often so close to the water's edge it has to fly up to avoid crashing surf. It uses its strong bill to dislodge food and pry shells open."
This bright nebula LBN 558 contains 2 dark nebula: LDN1250 on the left and LDB1246 on the right.
There are also two galaxies peeping through: at the head of LBN558 is UGC 12160 and on the upper right of the nebula is PGC166755. The first is 84 million light-years away, the latter is at a distance of 100 million light-years.
The image was taken on several nights in februari and mach in 2020 at the remote observatory on the E-Eye site in Spain with the Takahashi 106 @ f3.6 and a ZWO ASI294 color camera riding a Paramount MEII. The exposure is composed of 130 exposures of 300 seconds.
This bright nebula LBN 558, containing dark nebulae LDN 1251 to the left and LDN 1246 to the right, is situated in the northern part of Cepheus. To the left of LDN1251 is the spiral galaxy UGC 12160, approximately 84Mly away while PGC 166755, also a spiral galaxy ca 100Mly distant, can be seen slightly above the center of the image.

20200929_4397_7D2-168 Marine Parade
I am at the north end of Marine Parade looking south towards New Brighton, South New Brighton, Southshore and further across the estuary mouth to Sumner (9km away), Marine Parade is just a few metres short of 6km, then there is a continuation (Rockinghorse Road) which gets to about one kilometre short of the hills with houses on. It is a freezing spring day and we had a frost overnight. Despite the temperature there was one family playing on the beach (see next pic in my photo stream).

FRANCE - Provence; Orange , Röm. Theater ( 1. Jh. nach Chr.) (Augustus-Statue -Kopie)

226/365 - Fresh Feeling - Eels
August, Monday 30th.
I had to shoot my girl’s sister for a while, but we never really took the time to do that.
So this Monday, we went to the wood with the strobes and started to shoot some portrait.
That was really funny cause she had never really did that before.
For this picture, I asked her to choose the music and I’ve chosen a sentence of the lyrics for the quote.
Thanks Jo ! Enjoy.
