The British Rail Class 11 was applied to a batch of diesel shunting locomotives built from April 1945 to December 1952, based on a similar earlier batch built by the London, Midland and Scottish Railway (LMS) between 1939 and 1942.
The fourteen locomotives were built for the War Department, with the first ten subsequently going the Nederlandse Spoorwegen as NS 501–510. LMS numbers 7120–7129 went straight into LMS stock, with 7129 being the last diesel shunter to be built for the LMS. British Railways continued to build the class from 1948 to 1952, using numbers M7130–M7131 and 12045–12138. 7120–7129 and M7130–M7131 became BR numbers 12033–12044. The whole class of 12033–12138 became Class 11. Locomotives up to 12102 were built at LMS/BR Derby and 12103–12138 at BR Darlington.
Close to 100 almost identical machines were built by English Electric and supplied to Nederlandse Spoorwegen (NS) as their 500 Class & 600 Class diesel locomotives. Sixty-five of the 600 Class locomotives were built by English Electric between 1950 and 1957, numbered 601–665, at either Dick, Kerr & Co. Works (601–610) in Preston or Vulcan Foundry Works (remainder) in Newton-le-Willows.
Another export order was to Australia, with 16 locomotives built for use on 5 ft 3 in (1,600 mm) broad gauge in 1951. Victorian Railways bought ten as the F class, while six were bought by the State Electricity Commission of Victoria.
The diesel engine is an English Electric 6-cylinder, 10-inch bore by 12-inch stroke (254 mm by 305 mm); 4-stroke, 6KT and the traction motors are two: EE506 axle-hung, nose-suspended, force-ventilated traction motors with 21.7:1 double reduction gear drive. The main generator is an English Electric EE801, 441 A at 430 V.

12077 at Midland Heritage Railway
12083 at Battlefield Line Railway
12093 at Caledonian Heritage Railway
12099 at Severn Valley Railway
12131 at North Norfolk Railway
12139 at North Yorkshire Moors Railway
A ninth example 12049 (renumbered from 12082) is preserved at the Watercress Line in Hampshire. At one time it was re-registered as 01553, in TOPS Class 01/5, carried both numbers and was owned by the Harry Needle Railroad Company. 12082 was renumbered to 12049 in October 2010 and painted in BR green with a late crest but without the yellow/black ends. This was as a replacement for the original Mid Hants locomotive 12049 that was scrapped after suffering catastrophic damage during an engine shed fire on 26 July 2010.

Now that excavation has been completed on the building site at the rear of St Christopher's Cathedral (seen as a silhouette near the right-hand edge of the image), a large crane has been brought in and erected. From this perspective, the crane appeared to be acting as an umbrella to shield and protect the six lighting towers surrounding Manuka Oval. The Sun was just making its presence felt on what promised to be a lovely Spring day.

iPhone 6s - Photographs taken with the back-facing camera on an iPhone 6s.
PureShot - Acquired 6 sets of bracketed portrait-orientation shots using this camera replacement app. The shots were taken in a single horizontal row with approximately 20% overlap on either side. The focus, white balance and exposure were held fixed across the 6 sets. Each set of bracketed images had 3 images with 5/3 Ev exposure bias on either side of the fixed exposure level. Each image had dimensions of 4032 x 3024 pixels.
Mobile HDR - Combined the 3 images that made up each of the 6 sets of bracketed images to produce 6 HDR images.
Autopano Giga - The 6 HDR images were stitched into a panoramic image with output dimensions of 12102 x 4086 pixels.
Photoshop Express - Cropped the image to 10117 x 3533 pixels. Applied overall Clarity, Sharpen, Exposure, and Vibrance lighting adjustments.
Photoshop Fix - Applied selective Lighten, Darken, and De-saturate adjustments using the brush tool. Saved the image with the maximum dimensions available in this app (9378 x 3275 pixels).
Big Photo - Re-sized the image back to 10117 x 3533 pixels.
ExifEditor - Transferred the EXIF data from one of the original photographs to the final image.

Douglas A3D / A-3 Skywarrior variants operated by defense contractors under civil registrations at Mojave Airport (MHV),
November 1998
During their service life, the A3D / A-3 series were the heaviest aircraft routinely operated from US Navy aircraft carriers, earning the nickname "The Whale." For more about the Skywarrior, see:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Douglas_A-3_Skywarrior
The only aircraft I can positively identify in the photo is TA-3B 144856, c/n 12102, last registered as N870RS to Raytheon Systems. US FAA records show that registration was issued in February 1992 and cancelled in May 2011.
According to Joe Baugher's serial number database, 144856 was damaged in an accident while still in US Navy service in 1985. It was repaired at NARF Alameda using the aft fuselage of EA-3B 146449.*
As of January 2016, there were still at least five A3D / A-3 variants in the US FAA registration database, but all of those registrations were expired.

The wonders of the D700 were needed for this late running 4O23. Full gloom had arrived and 640 ASA was required. Such is life in the winter!
