In many of the small towns and villages in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley, the countryside isn’t far away.
This scene is only a few hundred feet away from the main north-south street in the village of White Post, Virginia. Night is falling, and the deer are ready to reclaim the territory as their own, once a lone photographer gets out of the picture, so to speak.

The face of the anthropoid coffin is finely modelled wearing a headdress and framed by large ears and a wig with long lines to indicate hair.
Parts of the lid were discovered shattered into pieces at the time of excavation, probably the result of prior illegal digging. The damage has been partially restored by conservators but some parts are lost. Aside from the missing parts on the central area of the lid, the face, the right shoulder, and right foot end have suffered severe damage.

A script no one saw coming,
but 12059 Jan Shatabdi delivered it frame by frame - raw, powerful, cinematic. 🎬🚆
On a diverted route carved through Rajasthan’s untamed heart,
it stormed into the state’s longest rail tunnel at Lalsot -
with Gandhidham’s WDG4G #49412 leading like a warhorse,
and TKD’s HOG WAP7 #30456 riding dead, yet dignified.
The electrics fell silent,
but the journey roared louder.
Through curves soaked in monsoon,
through valleys that echoed diesel thunder -
this wasn’t just a diversion,
it was an epic... with diesel ink and mountain verses. ️⚡️
The breast and the shoulders are decorated with a broad falcon collar comprising several rows of mainly floral elements. The parts on the shoulders, each with six ornamental rows below a falcon head that is crowned by a uraeus in a solar disc. The figure on the right side was carved in raised relief, the one on the left was executed in sunken relief. Whereas this difference in styles may have been intentionally realized, the variations between a few of six ornamental rows on the right and left shoulders are more likely due to the fact that two different craftsmen worked on either side of the coffin.

A kneeling image of Nephthys and her accompanying inscription cover parts of the wig of the anthropoid sarcophagus. Located on the forehead, the text inscribes the goddess spreading her wings over the deceased. The plaited beard attached below the chin is mostly destroyed as is the nose and mouth. A broad falcon collar covers the complete width of the chest and shoulders.
It is more typical for this kind of representation to appear on the breast of anthropoid coffins. In both scenarios, the sense stays the same: the goddess protects the deceased in his form as an Osiris under her wings.
"I am your sister Nephthys. I spread my arms as your mother, my wings are above you (in) the House of Eternity, Osiris of the revered one, the greatest of the five, director of the thrones, scribe of the treasury, Ahmose, justified."

Wrexham & Shropshire Mark 3A Open Standard 12059 at Wembley LMD on 24th June 2011. This coach is now in service with Chiltern Railways, fitted with plug doors and renumbered 12615.
The building is Smith House which used to be a Hall of Residence for students from the Teacher's College (which is just opposite where we live). My father-in-law lived there before WWII.
The sarcophagus of Ahmose, high priest of Thoth, is made of polished limestone that is entirely carved, both on the lid and bottom, with inscriptions and figures. The anthropoid appearance of the massive coffin, with its finely modelled head wearing a headdress, is defined by the tapered shape at the lower body, and curves indicating the calves. At the lower end, the slim part representing the feet is placed on a plinth, which is also formed on the bottom side of the coffin.
The face of the anthropoid coffin is framed by large ears and a wig with long lines to indicate hair. On the forehead, the headdress is further embellished with a figure of Nephthys with outstretched feathered wings, which cover the upper part of the lappets that reach down to the breast. The plaited beard attached below the chin is mostly destroyed as is the nose and mouth. A broad falcon collar covers the complete width of the chest and shoulders. The lower part of the body is engraved with depictions of the four children of Horus and their accompanying inscriptions as well as by a three columned text in the center.
