Predictably I'm going to say that's a good use for a church building, but in fairness, (and why not?), Christian Aid seemed to be well represented amongst the marchers.

I do find it hard to understand why "the church", any sort of church, isn't, and hasn't already and for a very long time been, very much more active on environmental ssues. Surely, if a person believes in a god, they can't possibly believe that that god wants us to make a hellish mess of the planet, or even a bit of a mess, can they. Can they?

MADRID, SPAIN - SEPTEMBER 12: The Ukrainian soprano, Irina Levian Avramenko, protagonist of 'Tosca', poses for the media on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at the end of the rehearsal of Puccini's universal opera that premieres new season at Garaje Lola Espacio Crativo, in Madrid (Spain). 'Tosca', Puccini's universal classic (1889) presented by Emiliano Suarez, has an exceptional cast led by the extraordinary Ukrainian soprano Irina Avramenko, accompanied by Shalva Mukeira and Manuel Mas, under the musical direction of Jose Ramon Martin Diaz. Suarez proposes a 'Tosca' set in the last years of the Franco dictatorship, with a protagonist in the purest Ava Gardner style and a Cavaradossi, an anarchist painter inspired by the image of Pablo Picasso, who will be persecuted and mistreated by the brutal police repression of the regime embodied in the figure of Lieutenant Scarpia. Irina Avramenko, was born in Ukraine and completed her training as a pianist and singer at the Conservatories from Odessa and Kyiv, she is also a piano and singing teacher and was an alumni of the Center de Perfectionament del Palau de les Arts (Valencia, Spain).
