I would imagine (and hope) that many, many people will be stopping today to remember the horrific events of 11th September 2001. So many mental images that will never, ever leave our minds and hearts. People from so many different countries, not just the US. So many stories of loss and heartbreak - and so many stories of bravery and heroic actions. Remembering .... all those who lost their lives on that fateful day: all those who lost loved ones and close friends or fellow workers; all those who rushed in to "do their job" or "to help others" in any way they could. Remembering .... all those who were severely injured on that fateful day and who have bravely suffered every day since then; all those Firemen, Emergency Medical people, Police - men and women, who have suffered and continue to suffer emotionally and physically, including illnesses caused by being exposed to harmful chemicals. The list goes on and on. Remembering ... and praying that we never see another day like September 11th, 2001.

"After assisting the rest of our regiment with the liberation of the frigates bridge, my squad was reassigned to a small strike force consisting of two or three squads with the orders of destroying the ships hyperdrive. We were the best the third had to offer and our orders were clear, we would either destroyer the drive or die trying, it was critical to ending this nightmare and to the destruction of the staff. The halls were relatively quiet and empty, this was bad because it gave me time to think. I couldn't stop thinking about the staff and the mission, did we really have to destroy it? What if it could be controlled? We could use it to bring about the end of the war, to emerge victorious and to guarantee my brothers their freedom. Soon I was ensnared in the maze of what ifs which clouded my mind, I was becoming lost and as time went on my thoughts became more alien and extreme. Soon I began to realize that these thoughts weren't even mine, they had to be the spear, trying to get me to turn, to betray my squad. I needed to clear my mind, so I focused on the mission. Soon we had reached our objective, as the squad stacked up along the wall I used the advanced sensors in my helmet along with a hand held device to scan the room for hostiles. The scan revealed several B1s, but there was no sign of the IG-100s which command had warned us of. Breaching the door we swarmed into the room on the other side quickly destroying any droid which stood in our path, with in a matter of seconds the room was clear. As I approached the hyper drive I heard something whirl above me, the sound was similar to that made when an electro staff is twirled through the air, odd, the room was clear, or at least the floor was. Looking up I saw an IG-100 sentry droid as it detached from the ceiling and fell towards me, giving me just enough time to dodge to the side. It landed with a thud and twirled around to engage only to catch a blaster bolt from the rifle with chest, the force of the shot threw it backwards into a pile of crates and as I raised my rifle to put two into its head I heard metallic thud and the sound of an armored body hitting the floor behind me. Quickly finishing off the droid in front of me I turned to meet the next, one blocking a swing from it's staff with my rifle and then smacking the droid across the face with the but of my gun. As it stumbled back and began to re-engage it was suddenly transformed into scrap from a hail of blue plasma, standing behind the droids smoldering carcass was Jester, the six barrels of his Z6 were still spinning as smoke poured out of them."
"Lets make this thing go boom shall we?"
Story is bad, but for a build that I scrapped and restarted about five times I'd say it came out pretty good.
As always C&C is appreciated and TFVAHAGD!
Also, mission 11.2 for the 253rd closes this Sunday, the 16th.
Ps. Shout out to Ordo for the floor grilles technique
I'm making progress on my DQS 11 blocks.
4 blocks made, fabrics selected and cut for another 3 blocks and backing fabric chosen (Kate Spain Central Park print on the right)
I'm really enjoying making these little blocks!
This is what happens when I end up going in store for releases. I was only planning on getting Anna and Kristoff but by the time I drove 3 hours to the nearest Disney Store, I figured I might as well get the Frozen Fever dolls too. Well, then it turns out that they still had one Peter and Hook set left so I ended up spending way more than I should have in one day. :P I ordered Ariel and Ursula off eBay since I had regrets of not getting them when they were available, and Elsa and Hans are on their way to me! :D

In a world that almost seems totally mad these days, I choose to see the beauty, the magic, the Love that 'IS'.
Made myself get out of bed early this morning in an effort to show this big setting moon, on this date, in upstate New York .....where I was. Hope I get to see where you were too. Remembering our veterans. Explore, highest position #40. Thanks everyone!

Took my car in to get its brakes replaced and went for a wander as customers aren't allowed to stay in the garage in these COVID times. I used to live nearby - these are the towers of an oil company about 200 yards from my former home.
The latest development at Hulley's is the introduction of a fast bus between Chesterfield and Bakewell, offering a town to town time of just half an hour, the service then continuing beyond Chesterfield New Beetwell Street to the Railway Station, making it a very handy connection for anyone transferring from the train wanting the peaks.
11 leaves Baslow behind with an X70 to Bakewell direct.
Last upload from the balloon shoot.
This comes out a little funny on different computers...if anything, tilt your screen back a bit :)

pastel 11
water soluble pastels on cardboard framed on wood.
24" x 19"
normally i paint, collage, mixed media on/in wood. my art is usually quite "dark and often "bloody".
i have recently been experimenting with pastels.
therefore i decide to "try" my hand at pastel using my usual cast of characters that one normally sees in my art.
i am quite surprised with how the piece has turned out. although the "people" that are represented in this piece are ones i've used before they have never been used in quite this way..by that i mean......so "cheerful"!!! ( as i view the piece). normally my art is rather dark, has lots of grim figures, "blood", etc. but this piece practically sparkles with pinks, light blue, turquoise, bright oranges, yellows. and, i think, that changes the nature of the piece.
what do i think of this art piece? hmmmm......i think i rather like it.....
considering that it started out only as an "experiment" and not intended to be a "serious" piece, i suppose i have achieved my goal. i now know i can use pastel with my usual people/figures/hands/etc. but....i also know that pastel and "blood" do not mix..at least not for me, not at this moment. maybe as i try again "there will be blood" !
april 2008-here's some fun news: i just sold two of my (new medium for me) pastels..."pastel 2: why are they crying?" and "pastel 10".
i also sold "pastel 5: paradise" found a few weeks ago.
i made all these new pastels for my upcoming "artomatic" art show, 29 may-5 july.
i am mega psyched. three pastels sold before the show even opens. luckily i've continued to work so i have others i can hang and still have the 12 i wanted to hang...just not the "original" 12!

Sapete cosa significa sentirsi a casa?
Respirare.
Do you know how does it feel feeling at home?
Breathing.
Fill your lungs with life.
Waking up without tiredness to live another day,
and hope that it will end later than possible.
My home is Galway.
It has been it for two weeks.
And it takes a piece of my heart.
The other side of the apple.
My 52weeks project with IGP.
Please respect my work.
